Another update

Posted by Strytho, 11 January 2017 · 21 views

I know what you all are thinking, Why am I not in bed right now? To be honest, I have a lot on my mind right now and I need to dump what's in my head. Here goes nothing...

So there are now only 2 people on the maintenance team currently. Toni got fired and it's hard to pin down the reasons but now the other good worker is gone. Less than a week later (last saturday), one of the 2 banes of my existence on that team quit because she couldn't handle people getting on her to do her job. So now that leaves me and Jeffrey. But guess what? I'm at another store and they can't pull me back because home office is the one who had me go in the first place. This means it's either Jeffrey or random people getting pulled to do maintenance. AP is apparently going off the deep end and on top of that, there was a fire in the trash compactor at the store I got sent to. Nothing but the compactor was damaged and no one was hurt, but the whole building had to be evacuated and none of the workers could leave. Good thing it got to 71 degrees F today! Now it's uncertain if I'll be going back but I'm probably still going since only the compactor is damaged. The smoke and smell of it made me sick at different points, burnt trash is just as bad as skunk! I'm a former asthmatic so that doesn't help. Now we are gearing up for a giant ice storm that won't touch where I live much but it will heavily impact the other store.

Then something else happened. Today my dad slipped on a wet floor and tore his hamstring while trying to leave work. This means that I'm going to be needed to help out ALOT at home. Between work and home I will be busy, fortunately I will still have time for LV so you guys are going to be my main escape from reality for awhile... have fun with that!

All this has me worried because my dad can't work or drive. Who knows? I might have to chip in financially to help my dad out. All I can say is that I need to be cautious with my money for a while.

Now that all that is out of the way here is the other stuff.

The other store is royally messed up. Things are in the wrong spots all over the store. We have most of it sorted out but still. Our multi store team has worked over 130 palettes. We brought them out to the floor on carts and either got the freight to fit on the shelves or reorganized it into the back room. We have created SOOOO much space it's shocking. Me and the 2 other from my store have received alot of praise from the visiting management. We have been getting pats on the back left and right and now we just need to finish the week and we're done.

Other than all this life is good. I'm playing pokemon, my bank balls will be more viable than ever, and my dex is 66% complete as of right now.

Goodnight guys, thanks for helping me feel better. Until next time.

So I must wonder, is your job something that you just do to make ends meet, or is it something you actively enjoy? From the sound of it I believe it's the latter, despite the occasional foible or undesirable event that pops up (burnt trash is terrible, and while I've never been asthmatic, I have a violently powerful gag reflex, so I can't stand being around it for very long). If that's so, then it seems you are in a fairly good position, with strong potential to improve rather steadily. Any setbacks you encounter seem to be largely temporary.

For the most part my job isn't too bad.  Most setbacks are temporary and I do like my job to a point.  The job is something I do to make ends meet, but I do enjoy certain parts of it.  While I hate cleaning bathrooms, the rest isn't all that bad (it just depends on how many people I have to work around.)  While I would like to move up, it's going to be a while until I get to that point.
