Hey guys, Serebii just released this on their page:

"Today in Japan, the latest Pokémon movie, Hoopa & The Clash of Ages, opened and within it, according to our envoy and close friend to the site, Gin who just saw the movie, there was something new appearing in it. She describes it as being bright green with one eye larger than the other. During the trailer for next years movie, its eye looked through the O of the word Pokémon and then it blobbed about. This was then followed by the large new Pokémon silhouette revealed on July 12th. Gin has kindly provided a few possible sketches of this Pokémon, but it is likely to differ greatly. It of course could still be an alternate form, a weird separated part of a new form of an existing Pokémon or something completely new, but it remains to be seen. We'll bring full details of this as and when it comes so keep checking back.
Edit @ 07:51: Gin kindly did another image to demonstrate how it appeared and further show what it may look like"

If this wasn't leaked by someone from Serebii, I would not have given this a second thought. However, since it is, it made me take this unknown Pokémon very seriously. The more I thought about it, the more I came to the conclusion that this could be a genetically modified Pokémon. It seems like something that would come out of a Frankenstein movie. Then, that made me think; what if the theme for this generation is genetically modified Pokémon? This concept is not the first that has been done. Pokémon like Ditto, Porygon, Voltorb, and most famously, Mewtwo, are all genetically modified or created Pokémon. Pokémon also leak a Pokémon from the next generation close to the mid-end period of the current generation life-cycle. We are, in fact, approaching that marker as we anticipate the release of the next Gen VI game(s). A game based around experimentation and modification of Pokémon, in my opinion, would be a great way to continue the series and try something "new". There's a lot they could do with that concept. Here's what I think they could do:

-Evil Team experimenting on Pokémon to create new Pokémon.
-Goal for the player to defeat the Evil Team and stop them from experimenting and weaponizing Pokémon.
-The region is war-torn and on the losing end of the wars against Kalos. Wanting revenge on the victor, they could try to experiment on Pokémon to start a new war.
-Introduction to "Delta" Pokémon, existing Pokémon of different typing as a result of genetic experimenting.
-New Pokémon Evolutions based on modifying Pokémon DNA to evolve it into a new stage or introduce a new Pokémon that can trace it's roots to an established Pokémon.

What do you think? Is this unknown Pokémon something new? Tell me what you think!

I do like the Delta idea with its different typing and connecting that part of the cards to the main series, and I like the more mundane topic of genetic modification (mundane in comparison to subjects like time and space; life and death), but is it a little bit early to say that one momentarily glimpsed and hastily sketched Pokémon could point to an entire generation's theming?

I'm just saying it might be early to say that one sneak-peek Pokémon might not be enough evidence for this departure. How did Marill hint to us about the Sun and Moon? How did Munchlax hint to us about Time and Space? Or how did Zorua hint to us about Truth and Ideals?

I think it's more likely this little fella is more likely just the guaranteed cutie-pie hot-seller that's already finished development (like Marill, Snubull, Munchlax and them). Individually he may be a genetic modification, and some other species too, but it might be early to say the same about an entire generation.

Isn't genetic modification in the games already, the DNA appears in Mega Evolution, and as far as we know Mega Stones could be man-made (Mewtwo's above all), I mean I guess that doing it directly to Pokémon wouldn't be a bad idea...

EDIT: What if it was Zygardes ally that tells him whats happening in the outside world?

They actually already did this one with the shadow Pokémon concept. I doubt they'd bring it back, but I honestly would love it if they referenced or even brought back shadow mons or their origin concept.

I also have to agree with Zero. I don't think this is inciditive of the theme of the next generation. Though I have to admit, a main series game based on Pokémon modification would be pretty sweet.

This is all speculation of course. Been trying to think what that Pokémon could be and why it is the way it is.

It reminds me of Ditto. Looks just like a blob to me.
