For those that didn't know, the Pokémon Company just announced a new mobile game called Pokémon go!
Now, I know what you're thinking, you mean the Go board game that people play? As much as I'd like to say that, that's a no, as the app's completely different from the board game. [X]
The Pokémon game that we all know now comes to real life, with Pokémon go! This app is collaboration with Niantic Labs, who have produced a number of good games in the years that the company has been there.
The concept of the game is that you travel around, with you actually walking, instead of a character that you control. You can also trade and battle with players that also have the app! The app is free, but similarly to Pokémon shuffle, there are a lot of in-app purchases that you can get to make your Pokémon journey easier.
Instead of checking your phone all day, there's a little add-on you can get with the game, which is a Bluetooth device that alerts you instead of checking your phone 24/7. This is attachable to pretty much belts, backpacks, just about anything you can imagine on you at all times! [X]
But what about the music? It's currently being produced by Masuda, who's also working on the design and settings of the game. He even said he would like to join this spin-off to the main series in the future. This game will be available in IOS and Android next year.

---
What do you feel about this game? Will it be just like the Google April fool's joke a while back? Will you download the app when it comes out, or still deciding if it's worth it or not? Will this be the next step for Pokémon games in the future?

I. CANNOT. WAIT. FOR. THIS!!!!!

Pokémon go! Will get me off my butt and it will do a lot of people a lot of good, even if you may look incredibly weird. Pokémon Go! Will be well received but I think it will dwindle quackly, I'm interested in how they'll keep it going.

I really mostly dislike this idea, and here's why:

So, I'm downtown walking to the shuttle stop or something when I get a notification on my phone. Hey, there's a Pokémon nearby! Let me follow its directions and... oh, wait, it's hiding in the middle of a restaurant, or an apartment building, or a car dealership, or something. Aha! Here's one that's in an empty field! Now I just need to walk across grass of the keep-off-the variety and stand around in the middle of a baseball field that's actually being used right now. Well there goes that wild Pokémon. Next one? Oh, it's not in a building or on the other side of a fence or anything! I can go get it... in the middle of the street (and not even at a crosswalk, woe is me!). Let's say I try to go and get it anyhow... oh, what the heck, I went through all that for a Weedle?

Here's the other thing: even if the locational Pokémon finding is perfect and not put in the middle of non-public buildings or down creepy alleys, if I'm walking around outside, I'm already doing something of moderate to high importance. Either I'm jogging for exercise and don't want to stop and play a videogame, or I'm hanging out with someone who I'd rather talk to than play a videogame, or I'm trying to catch a bus so I can get to class on time and not play a videogame. If I want to play a videogame, I'll do it when I want to, not when my phone tells me to in the exact same way I hate in-game trainers telling me when to battle. I'll tell my game when I want to battle, I will not let it tell me when to battle.

The only thing I like about this at all is the Raid idea, which is eerily similar to two-chapters-ago entry of my story in the literature forum. I actually want this feature implemented in the main games, so legendaries actually feel like threats. I should have to send out my whole team of six or ally myself with others to take down this god-like beast.

So yeah, only one thing I like about Pokémon Go. Not enough to make me want to go get it.

I am very excited and will probably get it, but in all honesty I'll lose ingest after a while. If they can find a good way to connect the ds games to this, then I'd be regular on it. I like this though. It's something new and social. It makes me very happy to see big companies broaden their horizons in mechanics and game types, and Nintendo has been making good headway with that recently. Splatoon was a new thing for them, and now a essentially Pokémon mmo. So I'll definitely support them

Looking at the previous posts, it seems people are worried about location based gameplay. I realize this, but as an Ingress player myself, just look at Ingress. Clearly PokeGO will be different, but I believe Niantic and Pokémon can make this an amazing game. The raid idea is actually the worst, in my opinion. According to the trailer, all participants get a Mewtwo, which is pretty much guaranteed to be not as OP as the raid boss.
My unrealistic proposal:
One legendary of each(with exceptions)
You own the legendary for ONE MONTH only, afterwards it is released
Legendaries are either not catchable or in Roaming Mode at any given time
Raids are prerequisites to activate Roaming Mode
After a legendary is released, it returns to the Hall of Origin(uncatchable) for a period of time, and another Raid is required to turn Roaming Mode back on for that legendary.

'Course this clearly has so many loopholes/plotholes etc.
