So, I was thinking about how weird it is that you can't change what Pokéball your Pokémon lives in. Maybe it was explained somewhere, but I don't see why you couldn't just say to your Pokémon, "Hey, you live in this Luxury Ball now", and have them stay in that instead of a regular Pokéball.

How would you guys like the ability to switch what Pokéball your Pokémon resides in? If you like the idea, how would you like to see it implemented?

I think in the anime or manga there may at some point have been Pokémon that switched balls after their original one was destroyed. Most likely the manga. So I don't think there's an in-universe explanation for it.

I'd like to see it as a menu option. The old Poké Ball would probably be destroyed, but this would be convenient to raise happiness levels because you could just put it in a Luxury or Friend Ball and gain the bonuses. But I think that besides possible glitches, this would be the only way to abuse the system.

As an in-game option, I would love this. I can be incredibly picky about breeding competitive 'mons into certain balls, and this would make the process much easier if I could eliminate even one variable, like catching a female in a certain ball, breeding another female to pass it down, etc.
As for how it's implemented, maybe it can be a bought item, like the Ability Capsule? Buy it, use it on a Pokémon, have the ability to change its current ball to any you have on-hand.

Can't say it would shock me if they did. They already made it 10x easier to IV breed, doubled the shiny rate, and made masuda method. Ability capsules were added in generation 6, allowing for ability switches. Pokéball switches are probably due, either that or they'll bring back seals. A little disappointing for me to be honest... Easy IV breeding was nice for competitive battling, but these other changes with shiny Pokémon devalue these aesthetically rare things.

I would love that idea! Also could we keep the pokeballs of Pokémon we release? I know that sounds wierd but when I release Pokémon in my games, I'm not throwing them away I'm repopulating the areas of my game and the world of the game. Also I'm freeing the Pokémon that don't want to be caught. I know it's a wierd way of looking at it.

Anyway, I think the balls should be interchangeable. The only way this might fail is with traded Pokémon because they'd be registered to those balls or whatever.

In reality I think the feature is unlikely because it rarely serves a purpose. If it were to happen though, the easiest way to implement and explain it is with a feature in your personal PC. You insert the Pokéball in one slot, the new one in another, and the data is transferred and registered to the new Pokéball. Easy as pie.

Still not sure that it matters outside of the aesthetic

It would be an entirely aesthetic thing, ideally; however, being an aesthetic feature isn't pointless. Appearances play a big role in things for a lot of people. I'm also fairly picky with what Pokémon goes in what Pokéball - especially with shinies!

That being said, this would devalue some already existing Pokémon who are advertised for being in a certain Pokéball... but, I feel that's a good thing. You shouldn't be required to have a certain game (BW/BW2 for that sweet Dream Ball) to get your desired aesthetic. :P

This would be nice, but those people with enough patience to capture every legendary possible with Premier Balls would probably be furious. People believe it when shown, but if they could be changed, then no one would believe it. I think it would look nice, however, I'd feel bad for those people, even though I think they are crazy.

MAN THIS WOULD BE SO CONVENIENT.

    Moonballs for all pokes!
But, I understand why they don't allow us to switch which ball they were captured in. If you think about it, each ball represents the trials that was added in order for you to catch that Pokémon. Using a netball on a Poochyena wouldn't be as advantageous as lets say, using a Pokéball in general I believe. So it's like that to show off, I guess. *shrug*

Tbh, I don't really care about what Pokéball I catch my Pokémon in. To me, the most important thing is that I catch the Pokémon :P
Then again, if some people feel happy with this feature being introduced, I'm not really against it either. I won't be using it though.

Like Megarai, i really dont care in which Pokéball my Pokémon resides in but there are some pokeballs that helps in different things like if i get my togepi in luxury ball it may be chances that my togepi will evolve soon into togekiss as togepi evolves on the base of happiness. For those who cares in which Pokéball Pokémon lives will be convinient to change pokeballs so it would be great if it is implemented.

The aesthetics, that's all I want. I can't tell you how many Premier balls I've thrown at Raltses over the years, or how many times I've used Heal Balls (Heal Balls!) because I wanted a Pokémon to have pink on it, or something else like that. I would so want to be able to not worry about that: just use the ball that fits the situation and amend the visuals later.

I understand if there would be some limitations upon this though: like you can't add or remove Cherish or Master balls, and you can't add Safari to non-safari mon, but I would like at least some post-capture customizability to that aesthetic feature.

I like being stupid and trying to vary all my Pokeballs that my competitive Pokémon are in because I like being fancy as all hell. Honestly, the idea of just switching out Pokeballs would be great, and if you don't want it, you don't have to use the feature. It's a win win situation, because other than the Luxury ball it is purely aesthetic as to what the Pokeballs do. There is no real reason for it, but there is no canonical reason why they can't as far as I'm concerned. And Pokeballs have been destroyed in the anime before from what I can remember.

Please make this a reality. :(

Being stuck with a lame PokéBall on a Pokémon you really love is whack.
