Pokémon Sun and Moon - May 10 Announcement Coverage

    Why are Japan's logos so much cooler than ours!?​

    How's it going, everyone? [member='Aura'] here with your coverage for the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Announcement occurring on May 10th!

    So, there were two trailers dropped, one in English and one in Japanese. The English trainer unveils more information than the Japanese ones, but both will be covered below! Thanks to [member='Sachi-Shimazu'] for covering the Japanese trailer, which you can find below, and thanks to [member='Karzarill'] for supplying all the images in this part of the coverage, as I was busy typing it up!

    The first glimpse of the game we get is of the male protagonist, and we can instantly see that the game is going to have a whole different feel than Generation 6. The over-worlds are all taller, and the game doesn't move around using a grid anymore, as shown by the next few seconds of footage. It also confirms that the region is going to be called "Alola". After that we get the reveals of this generation's starter Pokémon.

    First up we have Rowlet, a Grass/Flying type Pokémon. It's appearance seems to be based off of an owl, and the trailer shows it using a move that seems to be Razor Leaf, but has been confirmed to be a new move called "Leafage". Next up is Litten, a Fire type Pokémon. It's a red and black cat Pokémon (and definitely the best one, I mean, JUST LOOK AT THAT. ADORABLE #TeamLitten), and it used a move that resembles a basic Ember attack. Finally, there's the Water-type Popplio, which seems to be based off a seal. It was seen using a move that resembled Water Gun. From this footage we also saw who might be the region's professor, as well as the female protagonist, and the skin-tone choices given at the start of the game, which seems to confirm Trainer Customisation.

    After that, we were shown a top-down view of the region, which detailed a city-like area in the north-western area, a hilly area to the north, a beach and cave in the north-east, a mountain or crater of some-sort to the south and more water and small islands to the south-east. We can only assume this is a small area of the region, as it continues to the north-west. Then we see some scenery close-ups, such as running up a hilly path, looking over a wooden rail, a sky view of the city area, a run-through of the same city area, a village or town, some sort of wooden stage located in the town, a quick ocean view, and then a tan boy running towards the protagonist. We can only assume that he is the game's rival, as the fact that he was highlighted seems to point that out. After that we get some more footage of the starters, before a mighty roar sounds, and many Pokémon fans began to weep across the globe.

    What's shown next is footage of the Legendary Pokémon for Sun and Moon, who's names were not identified in the trailer. The Sun legendary is a white lion-like creature with a mark on it's forehead that glows, while the Moon legendary seems to be some sort of legless bat-like creature, similar to Mega Salamence's legless appearance. After that, we find out that the games will be available from November 18th, however I regret to inform the European members of our community that they will be getting it on November 23rd.

    What if I think that Fairy was awesome but I also feel like we don't need any more types. There's not really a middle ground option.

    HAH! It's set in a tropical region based off Hawaii! A few months ago I was saying "It'll be based somewhere tropical because of the palm trees, like the Caribbean or Hawaii," and people on the webs kept saying to me "No, It'll be based off Spain because of the rail that goes nowhere in XY,"

    Alright, there were two trailers and since Aura is probably still under some effects of jetlag or something, he is too tired to cover the second trailer, so he has passed on the job to me... And I swear I will be as professional as I can be and keep my fanboying to the minimum. After this one statement I feel like I have to make about the trailer as a whole.

    First of all, the trailer's usage of the Sun and the Moon to symbolise the kid's loneliness and outgoingness was beautiful. And the overall message that while the kid (Shohei) was completely new to Hawaii (it's pretty obvious that's where the kid moves given the setting of the ad), his love of Pokémon and the kids he desperately wanted to hang out with's equal love allowed them to overcome a language and cultural barrier, as well as the kid's loneliness, and bring people together.

    Aura won't let me write my speculation of this, so I'll find the speculation thread later and post something there about story possibilities.

    Now, let's get to the stuff that the trailer actually shows.

    First of all, in the first gameplay shown in the trailer, at the release of the game in the trailer, it shows a thing in the centre showing off the two legendaries (I'll just call them Solaleo and Lunalaa like the discovered trademarks say) with them one the respective sides of the tv to the other tvs. The other reason I want to bring this up is the possibility of these either being a second signature move for the Pokémon or new animations for Fire Blast for Solaleo and Aqua Ring or Moonlight or Lunalaa.

    Next we have a look at a currently unnamed town which I'm assuming won't be the starting town in the trailers in the shop and a picture of a professor or something.

    Next we get a quick shot of someone who looks like a professor or an aide or someone important in a completely new menu of some kind on the top screen, which is interesting, cause the menu has buttons on it...

    Next is the proof of different trainer skin tpyes and hair colour and stuff.

    This next one is ripped straight from Serebii cause I'm not going to replay the video to figure out the exact timing to get the best picture of the Alola region (as well as something I will mention in the speculation)

    Next is a picture of what looks like the trainer's bedroom or something (given what looks like moving boxes) and also trainer's mum and dad (insert obligatory who is the parents video from Game Theory cause they love those)

    Here is something that excites me. It looks like the paths won't be linear (straight lines) and a lot more dynamic (so FFVII vs FFX)

    I just realized... I never looked at the trailers! I'm so hyped! And thank you guys for putting this up! I'm even more hyped, and I'm usually enthusiastic about most stuff! And guys, please, does anyone here besides me like Rowlet? Litten is... cute, yeah, but... something is not right with me. Maybe I'll like her in the future... ROWLET HAS A BOWTIE!!!! SO CUTE!!!!!!!!
    And as normal, I predict that the middle and final stage of evolution of all the starters WILL BE WEIRD, LIKE EMPOLEON (yeah, well, Empoleon's cover is that his theme is regal...) OR GRENINJA (in this case, he's a ninja. But what's up with his tongue scarf?) OR MEGANIUM. (but Meganium is cute.... in a way.)

    Am I the only person who saw Machoke on the moving boxes? Not to mention the Wailmer Pail and Pikachu Doll (All Hoenn References) Does this men we are doing to live near there? I know that it was originally going to be in 6th gen (From South Korea Artwork of Sun Logo that was released I now can't find :( )
