Interdimensional [Kat x Mist]

Two characters. Two universes. One red string of fate.​

In a twist of the cosmos, two unite who would have otherwise never met. What would happen next, only God knows. But one thing's for sure - this meeting will rip apart whatever fabrication they had in their minds of life as they knew it.​

This is a closed RP between Mist and I, for the Buddy Event! I don't think either of us really knows how this is going to end up developing so I guess we'll see haha.

Darius was dumbfounded. As an ex-protector of the multiverse, he had lost his dimension hopping powers long, long ago. Sure, he could teleport to a few places still, but that was about it. He couldn't teleport to... wherever this place was. He hadn't remembered opening up a portal (not that he had the ability to, anyway), and the place itself... was utterly barren. It looked sterile, as if the expanse was kept articulately clean, free of dust or anything at all, for that matter. The only thing of note in this white landscape was the green lines, pulsing with power, running horizontally and vertically along the completely flat plane. That, and.... was there something else? It was hardly close enough to make out for himself, but he summoned a small, flickering flame on his right hand, studying whoever - or whatever was in the distance with unyielding concentration.

 

The woman, Darius soon figured after studying hard enough, didn't look threatening at least. He banished his flame away from his hand as he neared her, approaching with slow, almost soundless steps. She seemed frightened, her eyes wide with fear. Like someone who had even less of an idea of what was going on than he. If she was an actress who had malicious intent, she was a damn good one.

He stopped when he was a few paces away from the girl. "Who are you?" he asked, his words coming slow and calculated. "And what is this place?"

 

"Amnesia..." he muttered quietly under his breath upon hearing the girl's answer. Great. Now he had no idea where he was, and the woman didn't seem like she'd be helpful at all. But what happened to cause this place? Surely something had to of summoned the two of them there.

"The name's Darius." The young adult frowned.. He'd talk more, but it'd either blow her mind or scare her shitless, most likely. At least if she had no idea who he was, she couldn't have summoned him here on purpose. She would have had a purpose in mind once he started talking. So she likely didn't have any malicious intent right now, at least. He was more likely a blank slate.

"I'm..." he paused, trying to think of the right words to say, "a cop of sorts, I guess. I work with a lot of people to try to bring about peace and shit. And uh. I think we're in a pocket dimension, but I was hoping you had some more insight on what kind of dimension, exactly."

 

"I think it's kind of obvious you don't have amnesia at this point, but when someone asks who you are and you say 'I don't know'", it can give the wrong impression. Just a thought," he replied, a hint of sarcasm and exasperation in his tone.

"Anyway, yeah, sounds like you're familiar with this situation, then? Any idea how to break it? I'd try teleporting back on my own, but they took that power away from me a few years back-" He stopped, with an idea popping in his head. "Hey, if I disappear, I think I figured out a way out of here."

Darius stopped, summoning a tiny ball of maroon light in front of him, but the ball wouldn't grow any bigger, no matter how much he willed it. "It's.... d-damn it!" The ball then collapsed back into nothing. "Scratch that, then. You know how to get out of here?"

 

Darius sighed. "You ask a lot of questions. But well, my parents and friends thought I was dead when a few friends and I didn't come back from our dimension hopping for 20 years, so the ones who gave them to us took them back to give them to the next generation of Guardians. I didn't come back because I was possessed by a white dolphin who wanted to take over that world. And I was trying to teleport into hell." His frown turned into a smug smirk, his expression trained on her in curiosity.

 

Darius's smirk quickly melted into an expression of confusion. "No, seriously, the white dolphin's a bastard. His name is Sal. And I'm not exactly hu...man..."

Whatever words were in his throat died out at the sight of Ashley's grin. It looker maniacal, and screamed danger. "What's so funny..?" He asked, taking a step back. He looked visably shaken, but he prevented his fear from dripping into his voice. In his right hand, he summoned a small flame, and he took a step backwards away from the possibly mad scientist.

 

He immediately dismissed the flame, relaxing to the position he was in before.

"You have to be paranoid in my line of work, and I thought I might have read you incorrectly," he explained. "You'd be surprised by what power seemingly innocent things have. Like dolphins." He smirked, and sat down on the ground. "Sal looks nice, no doubt, but he had the power of something called the "Dead Sea" which could summon a sea full or blood and made him and his attacks stronger. And then he also had the ability of mind-control, which is what he used on me. But dolphins are nice in my dimension as well, and they're usually nice in the dimension Sal's from, but Sal's an ass."

 

"Heh, I wish I could summon some food or water," he replied softly. "The only powers I have left are essentially teleporting into the different realms of the dead, summoning hell fire, and flight. Food would be nice right about now." And just on cue, his stomache rumbled loudly. "I haven't eaten anything all day." He paused, gathering his thoughts. "As for what I am, the closest thing would be a demon, I guess, but it's kind of complicated and I'm nothing like the nasty demons of lore."

Only when Ashley mentioned it did Darius notice the two stars that beat down over the pair. "Huh, odd.You think those might be able to break us out of here somehow? It's not like anything else exists here."

 

"Unless things can start appearing out of no where, I doubt it," Darius replied, his gaze still trained on the twin stars. "I don't remember these stars being here earlier, so there's a chance, but that just doesn't make sense for things to appear out of no where."

"And... If worse comes to worst, I'd imagine the group of people who inherited my power will realize my absence. If they can pinpoint my location, then maybe we can travel to where I'm from, and then we can take you back to your home dimension. Unless this place is uncharted... Which.., it probably is.."

Darius's body went rigid upon his realization, finally coming to terms with the fact that he and this woman might be stuck here, forever. He couldn't see his family, his friends... Anyone, ever again. And as aloof as the boy sometimes could act, this was, more than anything, his worst nightmare coming true, right before his eyes.

"T-tell me if you find something. I need a moment," he spoke, staring down at the ground with fear-ridden eyes.
