No need to wear a hat in Alola - September 20 2016 Sun/Moon update

    Hey, everyone! It is [member='AzurAurora'] with the latest news about Pokémon Sun and Moon. Two new trailers were released at 10 pm JST.

    First things first. Nintendo has announced the first version exclusives for gen 7. They come in the form of two newly revealed Pokémon, Passimian and Oranguru. Passimian is a Fighting-type Pokémon with the ability of Receiver. Receiver allows Passimian to take over that ability of a fallen ally in a double battle. This Pokémon looks like a lemur with ambitions to join the nearest football club and play a few rounds. The Teamwork Pokémon is the Sun version exclusive of this pair.

    Oranguru is a Normal/Psychic-type with the abilities Inner Focus and Telepathy. Oranguru has a special move called Instruct with which it allows the partner in a double battle to attack again. Like the name of the Pokémon suggests, this Pokémonn was based off the Orangutan. The Sage Pokémon is the Moon exclusive.

    The second set of exclusives are the evolutions of Rockruff. This little Rock-type was revealed to have two evolutions depending on the time of day. The Midday From and the Midnight Form of Lycanroc were revealed to be version exclusives, to my great sadness. The Midday Lycanroc is exclusive to Pokémon Sun and is a pure Rock-type. Midday Form has Keen Eye and Sand Rush as its abilities. Midnight Form is for Pokémon Moon and like its Midday form is a pure Rock-type. Both forms share Keen Eye as an ability but the Midnight Form does not have Sand Rush as an ability, it has Vital Spirit instead.

    Next up is customization. Many were waiting on news about this wonderful feature and now it has come to us. It no longer costs money to customize your trainer. Instead, Festival coins of FC are needed to change your style or hair cut. Many more options in regards to hair color and eye color have become available to the player, not to mention the numerous new clothes. You can even change the color of your clothes yourself for an even better look. What is very interesting to note is that it seems no longer necessary to wear a hat. So show off that beautiful hair of your avatar.

    Pokémon Amie is being replaced with Pokémon Refresh. In this little minigame, it is possible to groom your Pokémon to your satisfaction and build a bond with them, not unlike you did in Pokémon Amie. You can even feed them heart shaped confections called Poké Beans that have replaced the Poképuffs from Pokémon X and Y. It is possible to cure status ailments like Poison and Paralysis through Pokémon Refresh by choosing the right tools to treat your Pokémon with.

    And lastly, new Pokémon exclusive Z-moves were announced for Pikachu and Eevee. Pikachu's Z-move is called CatastroPika and works by throwing Pikachu high in the air before he comes down like a meteor on the opponent and unleashes all stored energy into the opposing Pokémon. Next up is Eevee. This adorable little Pokémon does not attack when using the Z-move Extreme Evoboost. Instead, from the gathered Eeveelutions this little fox/puppy get a 2 stages boost in EVERY stat. Talk about Powering Up.

    On another note, earlier today a trailer for Pokémon Bank was released before the Pokémon Moon and Sun news. This program will get an update in January of 2017. It will allow compatibility with Pokémon Moon and Sun and will give it a National Pokédex Function. Poké Transport will be compatible with the Virtual console versions of Blue, Red, and Yellow to transfer your Pokémon from those games.

    You don't need a hat in Alola, even though it's a tropical region and the sun is pretty much burning down on your head all year round? Shame on you, Gamefreak! Do you want our avatars to get sunburns on their heads?

    I'm pretty happy about the new reveals, especially about the character customization options. Looks like my character won't be wearing a hat on his trip (even though of what I posted above, lol) :3
    I like the two newly revealed Pokémon as well, especially Oranguru. He sounds useful, even though I doubt I'll end up using him, because I don't see him being in the correct exp group (me and my obsession, oops).

    I hope they're not going to release many more new Pokémon though... we're nearing the end of September and the games come out in the second half of November, so I guess a couple of new videos will be released again though. Still, I'm beginning to hope they'll at least leave some of the surprise elements in the game themselves...

    But I guess that doesn't apply to those playing Moon, since they'd be playing at night lolol

    I'm super pleased with all the releases in these videos, except one; Oranguru. I mean, it's a great Pokémon and it seems like it'll be really great at VGC Doubles, but I can't stand any more people telling me it's Harambe. This Pokémon was most likely designed way before the incident with that poor gorilla, yet I receive comment after comment on my Instagram feed about "Pokémon put Harambe in Pokémon", and I'm honestly done.

    However, now that Catastropika is a thing, I'm seriously considering adding a Pikachu to my team in Pokémon Sun, especially since it'll evolve into an Alolan Raichu and gain access to Stoked Sparksurfer. Also, the amount of customisation in his game is absolutely amazing, I can't wait to collect every single piece of clothing!

    Also, I'm super-proud of [member='AzurAurora'] and their well-written news article. I was stressing out because I was unable to write this news article, as I'm usually the one who does the Sun/Moon updates, but now that I know there's someone who does it just as well as I do, I can rest a bit easier at night~

    Alright, my personal opinions!

    WOO, HAIRSTYLES, COLORS, AND NO HATS!
    And more customization options!

    As a Raichu fan, I had already planned to get a Pikachu on my team, and after seeing its Z-Move, I made that a priority. I love it.

    Anyway, now the bad things. Honestly, only two.

    1. I'm getting Moon, but I personally like all the Sun variants more T-T
    Guess I'll have to beg my brother to trade me them.

    2. Pokémon Refresh reminds me too much of a Nintendogs-like game. I have had bad experience with those kind of games.

    One thing I'm curious about is the fact that they haven't revealed much for the starters yet. I mean, I'd understand wanting to show off the final evolutions shortly before the release, but where are the second evolutions? I know it's not a big deal for some people, but the starter's final evos is the biggest factor when it comes to my decision of who to pick.

    Either way, the hype is getting stronger and stronger. I can't wait until the release Christmas D:D

    I'm glad i'll finally be able to change my characters hair colour ;w; and get rid of that stupid hat from the basic design.

    i love the look of passimian! im not a big fan of oranguru though. And the midday form of lycanroc has convinced me to get Pokémon sun~

    They're really going all out on the Trainer Customization this time around, which I'm quite excited for. It was easy in X/Y to tell who was who on your Friend List due to what styles they had. Then ORAS came around and half of them were Ace Trainers lol

    This news about the two version exclusives made me sad, since both the ones I'd prefer are Sun-exclusive and I'm getting Moon. Oh well. Can't win them all, I suppose.

    Not sure about Pokémon Refresh. It's great how it seems like they expanded upon it, too, but I never used the feature much myself unless I needed a Sylveon.

    Oh and Eevee is gonna be busted in Little Cup with Extreme Evo-Boost
