(PS) Random Tournament! (Signup and Q&A Phase)

Welcome, fellow traveler! It seems my thread has piqued your interest, yes? Great!

This is thread where you signup for my lovely tournament, as well as ask questions about anything regarding the tournament that comes to mind! After we have the correct number of signups, we will move forward into the battling phase! I will post a thread, and have this thread locked once the signups close

Without further introduction, here are the rules and operations of the tournament!

What will be played?​

Random Battle, Challenge Cup 1v1, and Hackmons Cup!​

What are Random Battles, Challenge Cup 1v1, and Hackmons Cup?​

All of these battle formats are exclusive to PokemonShowdown!. All are randomly generated teams, simply in different ways:​

Random Battle - All Pokémon are randomly selected; no duplicates. Movesets are generally "random" from a pool of viable (or most viable) sets. This includes abilities and items. Levels adjusted so every Pokémon is relatively equal.​

Challenge Cup 1v1 - Same as above, but moves, items, and abilities are randomly selected from what is possible in-game.​

Hackmons Cup - Same as above, but moves and abilities are randomly selected from the entire pool of moves and abilities in Pokémon.​

How will we battle?​

All games will be played on the PokemonShowdown! simulator. Any server is allowed to be used.​

What kind of tournament is this? How many matches will I have?​

This is a MODIFIED SWISS FORMAT tournament. Essentially, you will battle everyone else in the tournament in Round Robin format. The number of battles for everyone will be the same at this stage. The four players with the highest scores (regardless of the number of players in the tournament) will advance into a single elimination format, best of three matches.​

What is the maximum number of signups?​

Maximum number is 16! Once we have 4 signups, we can have the tournament. Remember--the more, the merrier! I will close signups 3 days after we have 4 people!​

When are the match deadlines?​

All deadlines are to be determined when signups have been closed. I will make sure to update the tournament discussion thread with them, so keep checking back when the tournament starts!​

How are matches conducted?​

Matches are conducted through PokemonShowdown!. as previously stated. However, a "match" is not the same as a battle! A battle is an individual battle between two tournament players, and a "match" is the number and types of battles that two players must do! Every format--Random Battle, Challenge Cup 1v1, and Hackmons Cup--must be played once. The player that wins the majority of those three wins, but all three formats must be played, even if one player has already won 2 matches.​

In your signup reply, make sure you include the message "Satix is a brave hero" or I will not accept your signup!​
