It is [member='AzurAurora'] with the latest Sun and Moon news update. Today a trailer was released that confirmed the Chinese leaks of the starters' final evolutions. However, that is not all that was revealed today.

The trailer starts by revealing the final evolutions of the starters. First up is Decidueye, the final evolution of Rowlet. Decidueye is a Grass/Ghost-type Pokémon, meaning that it has lost its Flying-type in the process of evolving from Dartrix. Like all starters, Decidueye has the ability Overgrow. This Archer-like Pokémon has a new Signature move in Spirit Shackle. Spirit Shackle is a physical Ghost-type move that does damage but also hinders the opponent from switching out or fleeing.

Next up is Litten's final evolution. Many of us have been disappointed by the design that pointed toward the final evolution being a Fire/Fighting-type. I am very happy to announce that Incineroar is, in fact, a Fire/Dark-type! Holding on to the traditional fire starter ability, this overgrown kitten will be a force to be reckoned with. Incineroar has its own Signature Move in Darkest Lariat. This physical Dark-type move ignores the effects of any stat changes that the target might otherwise be affected by.

The last one is Popplio's long awaited evolution, Primarina. The Soloist Pokémon, as it is known for, is a Water/Fairy-type and has the ability Torrent. Primarina is a beautiful Pokémon that uses balloons that it controls with its songs. The balloons may or may not explode on touch. Sparkling Aria is Primarina's Signature Move. This is a special Water-type move that heals the burn of the one that is hit with it.

Next up are the Guardians of Alola. Akala's Island Guardian is Tapu Lele. Tapu Lele is a Psychic/Fairy Pokémon that has the ability Psychic Surge. This ability makes it so that when Tapu Lele appears in battle the move Psychic Terrain changes the battlefield. This move, previously unable to attain be any Pokémon, boosts the power of Psychic Moves and prevents them from being hit by priority moves.

Then we have the Guardian from Ula'Ula Island is Tapu Bulu. Tapu Bulu is a Grass/Fairy-type with the Ability Grass Surge. Much like Tapu Lele's Psychic Surge, Grass Surge changes the battlefield, in this case it is to Grassy Terrain.

Tapu Fini is the Guardian of Poni Island. Tapu Fini is a Water/Fairy-type Pokémon with the ability Misty Surge. This ability summons an application of the Move Misty Terrain when Tapu Fini appears of the battlefield.

The Tapu's all share the same Z-move, called Guardian of Alola. In the trainer, where Tapu Koko used the move, it summoned a huge body from the ground and the deity will serve as its head. Then it is time to hit the nail on his head. All Tapu's seem to share the move Nature's Madness. This move will halve the remaining HP of your opponent.

This little Pokémon is called Cosmog. It was unearthed during the data mining of the demo and is seen as the pre-evolution of Lunala. Cosmog is a Psychic-type with the ability Unaware. It is a very naive and friendly Pokémon that is being researched by the Aether Foundation. Previously this Pokémon was only known to the King of Alola and his heirs. It is also called the "Child of the Stars".

This is Alolan Persian, AKA Alolan Garfield. This Pokémon is a Dark-type that has access to the Fur Coat and Technician abilities. Alolan Persians are highly prized in Alola for its beauty. And there are strict regulations for tourists to take one with them. Make no mistake, no matter how highly it thinks of itself, the moment it enters a battle, Alolan Persian will use the most underhanded tactics it can think off.

Lastly, the battle tree was announced today. As the Alola Champion, you can fight against other strong trainers from other regions. After fighting with them you can battle with them against other trainers. Cynthia, Wally, Red, and Blue, all make their appearance. Red hasn't become any more talkative in the years he has been wandering, even Blue notices it.

And while the Alola region doesn't have a League yet, they are working hard on building one on the highest mountain of Alola. Sequel in the make anyone?

Well, this was [member='AzurAurora'] with the newest info about Pokémon Sun and Moon. If there are anymore updates on the games we wll be there to bring the news to you. See you all next time!

Red and Blue cameo is a nice touch, I like.

I chose Rowlet as my starter a while ago and it hasn't changed with these new reveals, however I do like how Incineroar is based off a pro-wrestler, with its flames in the shape of a title belt and a signature move based on the classic lariat. Decidueye's typing surprised me but I don't mind it, and the animation of it pulling strings on its little hood thing to close it over its face is cute. I'm not sure what the deal is with Primarina's signature move, maybe there's something else to it and mechanics where it will make sense to use but unless it's a pure support move that just heals burns for your own Pokémon (which is lame and doesn't look like it is anyway) how is healing a damaging status effect your opponent potentially has as you're attacking it be a good thing? I suppose if you wanted to weaken one of those Facade users with a Flame Orb for a turn? Or replace a burn with a more desired effect? I dunno, to me it seems like the move's special effect will be useless or unwanted in more cases than it's useful, and that Primarina got the short end of the stick with signature moves. That's how it appears to me at this point, anyway.

I'm not big on Z-moves but the Guardian one all of the Tapus share is a pretty cool concept.

Love the final evolution for Rowlet, this may have changed my starter, though I love the Litten line so so much until the final form. I dont like the look, why is it dark type if its description is even fighting like. It is a bit confusing. Also the championship with Red and Blue, smart on nintendo, I love their Alolan forms, great to see someone grow up in this series XD

Amazing article Azur, thanks for writting this all down!

I liked everything revealed, but honestly, the Battle Tree was a bit underwhelming to me. I mean, I love it, but my concern is just that the four characters shown for it so far are all well-known and well-loved by the fanbase. I don't only want to battle the ones everyone remembers. Then again, this is coming from someone who actually likes Alder a lot.

I imagine that there will be more options than just what has been shown, and they're just using some of the most popular characters to introduce it.

At least that's what I would like to think because I agree.

Yes! My cute owl puff evolved into an emo birdie who evolved into an awesome hoodie-wearing archer ghost owl!

I think all the Tapus are interesting, what with their descriptions on the official site and all. And the Z-Move? Awesome.

Cosmog. What will become of this little thing? Very interesting, indeed.

The Battle Tree is meh to me. I love that they brought back some characters, especially Red and Blue.

The hype is realer than ever.

You know, its funny, I was like "The only way I'd chose Rowlett is if it turned to Ghost-type since Litten Cina is a thing" (As I am a Ghost-type specialist now 'cause my favorite Shiny is Mismagius and a like the type in general)

    Ends up Ghost :P

I like these new Tapus, @[member="AzurAurora"] Grass Terrain "It also halves the damage taken from the moves Earthquake, Magnitude, and Bulldoze." and Misty Terrain "and preventing them from being afflicted with status conditions or confusion." have been buffed as well.

Ah, I see. Thanks for notifying me of that, @[member="Apawn"]. I never use the moves myself so, it slipped my mind to check if they were still the same. Apparantly not.

While I don't like any of the final forms to any great extent, I was already thinking Incineroar would have the most personality, and it turns out personality oozes from its animations. So awesome. Might jump form Rowlet to Litten. Probably will, because Litten reminds me of my first cat. This is cool, because I don't generally like fire or dark types all that much.

Like I've said before though it'll probably get dumped as soon as I find something I want more for the slot.

I have always gone for Rowlet and this puts the final nail in the coffin for me. Decidueye looks freakin amazing. Naming mine Hanzo because reasons. The new Island Guardians don't look too bad either, although these and the starters were revealed in the datamine a while back. What we didn't know was the typings and I gotta say, Grass/Fairy is a pretty darn good typing. Cannot wait to play these games!

If only Tapu Fini had some sort of Water Terrain ability. Mosty Terrain's fine too though. And yeah they were all in the datamine, but starters were leaked pretty early on the hype anyway. So if you're like me and realized that it was predicting things correctly a lot more than incorrectly, the starters were spoiled a while ago... Decidueye's type was a cool surprise though.

Looking back over and thinking on this more, I have a feeling I will be selecting Popplio or Rowlet now. Most likely Rowlet as its final evolution is so cool and the typing is very useful. Its special move is also very useful for normal battles and even wild battles, especially if Abra tries to run... Not on my watch

I like the cameo as well, but I feel like the design for Red was kinda ruined. His face looks so different and angry :(

    100% agree with this here.

Also, can we talk about how Lunala might have a pre-evo? (It's not a complete confirmation, so I can still speculate a little). I'm not sure I like the idea of legendaries having pre-evos, but somehow I'm warming up to it with how Cosmog is so adorable :)

Cosmog is the cutest little muffin ever. I know it was the thing in Lillie's bag but I am curious what story this thing hold. And what about the other one that was supposed to be linked with Solgaleo? Sun and Moon may have revealed everything, but mysteries are still about and this is what makes me excited.
