Have you heard about the currently ongoing Glob Mission yet? The goal is to catch 100 million Pokémon together before December 12! Are you participating yet? Why or why not? Have you contributed a lot or not?
I joined up because I am trying to complete the dex, so why not join and get something else out of it as well? I think I contributed about 100 Pokémon to the goal already, which is quite a lot for one player. (Catch crazy, I am.)
I am a bit slow to it, I am in the event but only 12-13 Pokémon so far, maybe not even that. I need to go out and catch more Pokémon. I wish it counted breeding though, I would have so many Pokémon then XD
I heard the Global Mission was a bit of a failure and that next time they'll cut down on the numbers. I mean 100 million seems a lot.
I don't think we even managed to hit 1/5 of the goal, but it was fun to participate in. Maybe now they have an idea of what missions are too out of reach based on the results of the first. The participation reward was also a great plus.
I like the ideas of this but them more I try and participate, the more it becomes crushing when the numbers are so high no one can even hope to reach them, millions of players couldn't get the first goal and that discouraged me a lot from this new challenge.
On the Facebook, twitter, and website. Maybe in the mailer but no where else if I remember correctly.
I didn't know about this till it was almost over and I don't think I caught more than 3 Pokémon (the three shiny Salandits) after I joined because at that point I was pretty much already done with my dex so I didn't really have a reason to catch more Pokémon. 100 million captures also seem like a lot did we even get anywhere near halfway?
I didn't end up participating because I thought even for a launch time goal, that seemed really unrealistic, almost a bit embaressing on ninty's part to assume there was a chance that they'd meet a number like that XD and it's a bit depressing that the first global mission which is meant to introduce it as a feature worth using, failed
The second failed too, didn't it? I think Gamefreak definitely made some big mistakes with these though. These were a pain to enter for your average player. While you did get a pop up informing you about it, it took too many steps to participate. Requiring players to register their game with Nintendo's website, I feel, is the biggest reason these are failing. Nowadays, if you want your event to succeed, it needs to be easy and painless to participate in. They didn't test the waters before diving in. Throwing up a huge goal like 100 million to start with was setting the bar too high, in my opinion. They should have started with something smaller and much more manageable, and slowly gone up from there. I do feel, though, that this could have worked out better had they not required registration on their website. The rewards weren't enticing enough for the effort. The time you spent catching Pokémon to work towards the goal could have been (and probably was) spent grinding out FC. These are just my thoughts on it. I'm really hoping they make some big changes to how global missions are handled, because they could be very cool.
