I don't know of a better way to title this topic, but it's about the boxes that video games actually come in - the packaging, the artwork, the game itself, any manuals, and so on.

After you open up the box, get your video game out, and get to playing, what do you do with the box afterward? Do you keep it? Throw it away? How do you treat it?

Myself, I usually throw the boxes away after some time. I used to keep all my boxes for all the games I'd ever bought or played, but after many years of this, I realised they contributed nothing but wasted space, as all they offered were a manual and warranty information for systems that haven't been made in years (I used to buy a lot of GBA games new). When clearing out my stuff, those were one of the first things to go, as they were collecting dust and didn't help me much at all.
I did keep my Nintendo 3DS Owner's Manual, however - since it's on the system itself, and is a rather hefty volume, I believe it would come in use one day. (And it did - I didn't know that 'orange blinking light' means that someone on the Friend List came online, because the Friend List is not a feature I often use!)

Some I've kept - like Etrian Odyssey games, because they had stuff bundled with the pre-orders. Cases like that don't very often exist, though, so I don't really keep any of my boxes. Of course, if there were other, humourous situations, I would be inclined to hold onto a box for just a while longer.

What about the rest of you?

I keep the boxes, so if I want to give it away or sell it, it will be in its original box

I got rid of the Gameboy and GBA Boxes, but I still have most of the manuals. I keep the plastic boxes from the DS, Wii, and PS4 Games, because I want to keep my games safe.

For consol games I always keep the packaging, it makes a lot of sense there though and isn't suprising, for portable games though, the packaging is so much useless space, but I also struggle to get rid of it. In the end I often keep the case for a while before finally giving in and letting it go.

I've been keeping my boxes and usually I misplace the manuals somewhere. I consider the boxes themselves to be of some value especially if they don't get crushed up or ripped at places.

I always keep all of my boxes because I love the way they look. I have all of mine on shelves in my room. I love to just look at them sometimes when I'm bored.

I always keep my boxes. I have no idea why people would throw them out unless they're those big cardboard ones that have the smaller box inside. Gotta keep my games safe and protected somewhere and the boxes are pretty to look at on a shelf too! :)

I keep them because in the past I have sold some of my games and people tend to pay more if you have the original box to go with it. Others, I keep for nostalgia or personal reasons. Either way I usually don't get rid of the boxes unless I get rid of the game too.

I actually usually love to hold onto all the boxes and it's only recently that I started to get rid of them for space (in particular, the DS and 3DS cases in which they didn't even provide manuals, and are really inconvenient because I just have all my tiny DS games in a single zip bag, which amounts to far less space taken up than each case per game would.

I do like to keep the older ones and the unique ones though, for example I love how the original gameboy silver game has foil effect and how some like the ocarina of time remake come in a specifically shaped box to accommodate the extras.

I think I'll continue to keep the cases for things with CDs though, at least until such time as I end up putting them all in a CD book thing.

I also still have the original Pokémon trading card game deck boxes, I'm pretty proud of those because you definitely won't see those around as much.
