Hello all! This is the newly dubbed ShinyFlygon (never used that username before, but I recently caught a shiny Trapinch that I chained for so it seems appropriate). Honestly I don't expect to be on this forum a ton because I'm currently in grad school and therefore don't always have a ton of free time, but I'll try to stop by whenever I think about it. As you might imagine from my username, I like to think of myself as a part-time shiny hunter, which is actually how I heard of LV (a user on r/ShinyPokemon suggested I come here). So yeah, maybe I'll post about some of those adventures if I think about it. All in all, wanna take you all for having me and introducing me to such an interesting and diverse group of Pokémon fans. Welcome to the site, Flygon! I too am a big shiny hunter and I've been doing a ton of it in Sun & Moon! I'm not sure who to hunt next though, any suggestions? Anyways, have a great stay here and don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions.
That's fine; people get busy a lot and we totally understand that - just so long as you remember us from time to time to stop by, that's great! Hopefully we're all that you expect us to be and more; what do you hope to best get out of LV by your stay here? We can keep that in mind as you progress here, as the most important part is to enjoy where you are.
Hey @[member="Achromatic"]! Yeah, I never really hunted much myself until last gen since Omega Ruby made hatching so much easier, so I'm relatively new to it myself. At first I was mostly focusing on totally new Pokémon (or Alola forms) since you couldn't get those before, so I started with shiny Rowlet and shiny Minior since they both look super awesome. Then I realized how much I liked SOS chaining so I went for some shinies I never got around to looking for in the last gen, hence shiny Trapinch and most recently shiny Feebas. I tend to like shinies that are have radically different and/or really cool color schemes, which is why Minior is so amazing with its base black and flecks that represent the other Minior colors. But that can only be hunted through breeding, so if you wanna try out SOS chaining I'd personally recommend whatever you think is coolest. SOS chaining really isn't that hard as long as you plan ahead. Personally I like shiny Mareanie, Rockruff, and Sandygast
I actually have all of the shinies you listed except Feebas! I'm super proud to have them. I'd like to get a Dhelmise next, I think! It's great to see other hunters join the site.
@[member="Eclipse"] Honestly I don't really have many expectations or impressions so far. The user who recommended I come here didn't say much so I've just kind of been looking around. Personally I've always enjoyed either hunting shinies or collecting Apricorn Ball Pokémon so maybe that? Then again I'm already subscribed to a couple subreddits that specialize in both of those so it's hard to say. Maybe just get to know a few people and get some cool user swag? Lol @[member="Achromatic"] Nice! Yeah Dhelmise also looks boss. I sort of think I wanna chain for one of those at some point, as much of a pain as it would be to do so lol. Also is it typical for mods and supermods to be the welcome party? Haha
It's a real pain. I think it'd be better just to Masuda for one! That's likely what I'll be doing when I get the time.
Yeah, I gave up on trying to chain for my shiny Mareanie for that reason. Hatching was way easier, and enabled me to get its HA as well!
Welcome to LV Shiny Flygon! It's wonderful that you decided to join. Shiny Pokémon are a blast to collect, I personally prefer breeding to chaining, but it's all exciting nevertheless. I wish you the best of luck with your hunts and I hope you have a wonderful stay here as well. ^-^
Thanks! I think breeding is more stable and reliable, but there's something about the dynamism and interactivity of chaining that I've always appreciated. Lately I go back and forth between the two when hunting. Nice to meet you, and good luck with your hunts as well!
Think about it this way - it's just 1 more source on top of the subreddits you could tap into. You don't really lose anything off of it either, and keeping your options open is a wise idea for nearly anything. As for people we have plenty of those, so you'll find someone who you get along with quite quickly - and as for swag, we definitely have plenty of that; I think Achromatic put up some various items to trade with other members, with more to come in the future. So that's some form of swag - never mind the adoptables and the medals we have lying about.
Yeah, already noticed some of the adoptables.Probably gonna have to buy a shiny something (maybe Rowlet?) whenever I earn enough PokePoints. I feel like that's gonna be one of my main weaknesses on LV haha

Nice to meet you Shiro! I'm currently trying to breed for a shiny Goomy, although I'm using the Magikarp swap method to speed the process along considerably. I only started yesterday though so I'm not very far along. Are you currently hunting for anything?
Nice! Shiny goomy is soo cute. I love its pastel tone. It's also good competitively I think. I actually just bred a shiny Beldum, so I'm working on breeding a shiny Minior for my boyfriend. The magikarp method is awesome in speeding up the process! It once only took me 21 eggs with it tbh.
Yeah, the swap method is especially great for shiny breeding pseudo-legendaries. I hatched a shiny Axew the long way in my Omega Ruby and it must've taken at least a week of on and off effort, maybe longer. Also shiny Minior is equally as adorable! I hatched that one a little while back and it continues to be one of my favorite shinies from this gen. I hope you find yours soon!
Omg props to you for that patience with Axew! I'd love to get a shiny Dratini but I'm not a fan of shiny dragonite's color. ;;_;; I'm super picky with shinies. I agree! Shiny minior is super pretty and cute. I wanna name it Sprinkles. Thank you!! You're so nice aaa, any shiny you won't give up no matter what? LOL I'm curious
Yeah, Dragonite is one of those rare cases where I sort of wish they had kept the pink color, even though I'm usually not a huge fan of how many pink shinies there are Do you mean like a shiny I would absolutely refuse to trade? Because frankly that would be any shiny I personally caught/hatched unless I somehow ended up with two lol (although that has happened before). I think the shiny Haxorus and shiny Aegislash I own are the two I would be especially unwilling to part with though lol. I love black and gold shinies

You seem super nice and I hope I get to know you more I am starting to shiny hunt, about 100 eggs in on a shiny Vulpix hunt using the Masuda method, are you aiming for competitive shiny Pokémon or just for the shiny?
Getting used to replying in forums. Never been a part of one before now lol. Nice to meet you! Thanks! I've always wanted one in spite of (or perhaps because of) how unusual the color combination is on shiny Flygon. Typically I'm more interested in just finding shinies in general, largely because I've never cared to participate in the competitive scene (or even stuff like the Battle Tree honestly). That said whenever I breed for shinies I do usually put in enough effort to get a beneficial nature and decent IVs, but that's just to keep myself distracted more than anything Are you trying for a standard Vulpix or Alolan Vulpix?
