Trading. It's just been annoying to me because it requires you to either know and trust someone, or for you to have two consoles. The GTS and communities like LV (once people get to know, trust you enough and vice versa) really help in that regard but I still dislike having to rely on trading for some Pokémon and I can imagine there are players out there who simply have no choice but to miss having some Pokémon because they don't have anybody to play with or a reliable internet connection.
Friendship, it takes so long and it is just irritating to have to go through the work to catch some of these Pokémon and in end it is going to take a few more hours to evolve it.
Me, it's doing it at a certain time of day or night. Sometimes, I'm subjected to playing in the middle of the night, and sometimes it may take a few days before that time comes again. Plus, some of these, like Espeon and Umbreon, are by friendship along with these, making it an utter nightmare:
ugh trading is awful ? especially for people like me who are anxious wrecks. even if i do trust somebody to trade i dont want to ask flatout, so its awful ? especially if they need an item w them too !!!! i hate it tbh :^)
Trading with an item, specifically. First, I have to get an item and then trade it? HELLO? I don't wanna wait to get an item mannnnn.
Trading in general to evolve. It's annoying to find somebody willing to go through the whole process twice just to get your Pokémon back.
Anything involving having to level up a Pokémon in a certain idea. That was needlessly frustrating for me.
Inkay/malamar. Simple enough once you know what to do, but how did the devs expect us to figure that one out? Who was the first one to think "hey, maybe this thing will evolve if I turn my 3DS upside down after leveling it up"? It's just a really weird evolution method that doesn't really make much sense in-universe (are we turning the Poké Ball upside down? The Pokémon itself? I don't know, man). Also seconding the trade evolution thing.
Yeah, Inkay Malamar evolution is the most annoying for me. with trades I just don't care because most trade-mons I don't particularly care about, but I once played an entire battle with the game upside down to get Malamar to complete the Pokédex. it was a weird experience.
For me? Gender specific. I hated female Combee for being so hard to find and Salandit was no better if you don't abuse the SOS. Fortunately male Kirlia and female Snorunt aren't as annoyingly hard to find even if their stones are.
Exactly!!! You want Magmar or Electibuzz to evolve into Magmorter/Electivire, you have to trade either Pokémon with their Magmartizer/Electritizer with someone. Thatt means you have to find someone on GTS with the Pokémon you want holding that item :/
The Beauty method (RSE). You have to get to Lilycove City/any Contest Hall, get a Contest Pass, then pick enough blue berries that preferably aren't Oran, press buttons that can be tricky to time sometimes with unpredictable NPCs, feed them to your Feebas, level it up, and hope it works. And when it doesn't, you go into a corner and cry because this is too hard. And not to mention you have to find the Feebas first. And also trade evos because I don't have friends. *sad tear rolls down cheek*
yeah, that method was a pain in ruby/sapphire, I had to follow a guide on Gamefaqs but eventually I evolved my Feebas, plus catching the damn thing was annoying. I fished at least 5-10 times on each tile of water ingame before getting one.
Trading with an Item, I mean I have two 3DS's but when I don't own both games then its a pain + the pain of getting the item.
Item trade evolutions, I swear they were just made to force people to interact. Nothing bothers me more than being forced to track down an unsuspecting friend and force them to trade with ya. This is why I usually end up with more than one copy of a single generation.
Holding the 3DS upside down to evolve a Pokémon. Not only is that completely ridiculous, but that method doesn't work on a 2DS, which is what I bought because I'm a massive cheapskate. As well as that, any kind of trading. It's the reason why I never bother catching Pokémon like boldore or haunter, I'll never be able to use them to their full potential and they'll be significantly weaker than the rest of my team toward the endgame.
It's mostly trading for me, because even though I have a perfectly good brother to help me, he never does! Besides, it's hard for me to trade over the internet, because for some reason, it has a hard time cooperating with my 2DS... Also, ridiculous level requirements, such as Larvesta. That's just ridiculous.
The is the Karrablast and Shelmet trading thing to evolve, along with Tyroge evolving based on stats. Mantyke and Pancham evolving because of the Pokémon and your party, and Sligoo evolving based off it raining also is annoying.
