Honest truth I'd still take horde battles over this new gimmick. I get that it's good for shinny hunters but it's annoyed af when you just want to move on to the next route or whatever~
I really hate it when your rival shows up to battle you after a long route and your Pokémon are low on health. I also hate that demo to catching Pokémon you can not skip for some dang reason, I have played before, just let me bypass it! I hate the BP only items, I am not a good battler so it can take me AGES to get anything.
Speaking of rivals... Calem/Serena. "I challenge you to a battle in front of every Godforsaken Gym you even look at! And I'll just come up to you and fight you and you can't refuse, okay?" WHY CALEM YOU LOSE EVERY TIME THIS WILL BE NO DIFFERENT
I hate sleep, confused, and paralyzed conditions. "Your Pokémon is asleep/paralyzed/confused! It can't move/hit itself in confusion!" "Opponent's Pokémon is paralyzed/confused! IT USED HYPER BEAM." Or perhaps when a move will just not hit, and the opponent just keeps spamming Agility... I'm looking at you, Emolga. As well as the long tutorials, which really should have an option to skip by now. And finally, SOS Battles when they're near your level, and you're just about to finish them off, and then OH LOOK ANOTHER ANNOYING FEAROW.
During sun and moon it seemed like every. Single. Trainer/e4/skull grunt/ather foundation member/every single person in the game confused my Pokémon and my Pokémon would always hit themselves. And when I cured it or switch out they'd confuse me again
When wild Pokémon attack me right when I'm at the edge of the grass patch. Especially when I'm not looking for a battle/just trying to get somewhere without any interference and have no repels. Why.
Simply put, hax. Critical hits, misses, status effects, you name it. Anything involving a large amount of luck, which I know Pokémon consists a lot of, but still, quite annoying at times!
Double Team spam is awful and can go to hell. If I recall correctly Lt. Surge does that shit in RBY. I'm just about there in my playthrough of VC Blue so I guess I'll see soon. But damn is it annoying, especially in gens where there were basically no 'always hits' moves.
TOTEM. LURANTIS. BATTLE. I don't think I need to explain this one. Just the very mention of that boss fight is enough to grind my gears.
Can confirm the annoyingness that is the Battle Tree. Decided to try it out for the first time today just for fun, and in my very first battle I came across an NPC who used a Wash Rotom with the moves Substitute, Double Team, Confuse Ray, and Charge Beam, although that last move might as well not have existed for how much it spammed the other three moves. Oh, and it was holding a Leftovers to top it all off. By a never-ending spamming of Substitute to avoid damage, Double Team to avoid getting hit, and Confuse Ray to make my moves potentially hurt myself I ended up losing the battle because I was literally incapable of hitting the thing most of the time, either through poor accuracy, hurting myself, or hitting the substitute instead of the original. All in all it was not fun, took forever, and was possibly the least satisfying way I've ever lost a Pokémon battle. Okay, rant over. Lol I will say I love Cynthia as a Champion, but I do wish they would spread the love to some of the other super cool Champions like Steven or Alder for example
The inclusion of Cynthia is probably supposed to mean that Gen4 remakes are in the works. Even though I believe that it's too early for them since you can still play them due to backwards compatibility. Then again I thought the same thing for LoZ TPHD
When your opponent keeps using Minimize, Double Team, and all those other evasive moves. It takes forever to hit them.
Not much gets under my skin in Pokémon. But when something like this happens, I get livid: Foe: *crits me with normal move* Me: *uses 95% accuracy move and misses* Foe: *flinches me* Foe: *crits me anf flinches me: Foe: *hits and nothing special happens* Me: *misses same move* Foe: *continies flinching me till I faint* (This actually happened to me against a Mightyena, except I hit it once before fainting)
Critical Hit Z Moves.... I mean it's bad enough that they can break through protect, but the crit makes the damage so much more devastating since it can bypass any stat buffs you have and wreck your team... especially in singles or doubles in the battle tree where you only have three or four Pokémon to use.
That can happen? My arceus, that's so broken. For me, nothing is more irritating than paralysis/confusion. I inflict either (or both) on my opponent, I wasted a turn because nothing ever comes of it. My opponent inflicts either, my Pokémon is completely incapacitated and I have to switch out.
When the storyline of a game completely steals your heart away and wrecks you with feels, and then comes to a crashing halt and leaves you feeling all empty inside... *Cough* PSMD... Even though it's still my new favorite. Shock wave, magical leaf, etc ftw.
Try taking down a Clefable with those moves and tell me how it goes. Clefeable was pretty busted in 6th gen singles on Showdown even without minimize. Even if it wasn't Celfable, those insta-accuracy moves are fairly weak (you're really going to run Shock Wave over Thunderbolt or Magical Leaf over Giga Drain in any serious competitive battle?) and you're likely to get KO'd before you KO them. The one exception is if they're faster than you and the attack is super-effective but even then, you still might need help from other mons. In game, do what you want. To answer the question, I made a thread on my least favorite thing: how much plot armor Ash has. I'm sorry, but he should've been dead so many times over that it got me as a kid and lingers to this day. Really? You escaped a capsized ship that was teetering on a rock hundreds of feet blow the ocean's surface. And that was in episode 15 & 16 of the series! *deep sigh* Yet I still watched it because it's Pokémon.
