Out of no where we got an announcement of Fire Emblem Echoes, an remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden for the NES which came out back in 1992. For those who don't know, Fire Emblem Gaiden is the second game in the franchise. It tried new things like adding dungeons and allowing you to explore towns, however it was hindered by the limited power of the NES. It had a ton of potential and it looks like it's going to become the game it was always meant to with Fire Emblem Echoes. I'm so excited for this game. Like I said, Gaiden had so much potential and cool mechanics that I'm excited to see reborn. What do you guys think?
I played Awakening but I really wanna play the other ones, they are very amazing and this one looks really amazing and I can see myself buying it super quickly. It is awesome they are exploring the old game and making it workable and great once again.
Here's hoping that Echoes isn't another Awakening snowclone! I have nothing against Awakening on the whole per se (I feel a few small things could be handled better, but not a big deal); it's just it only works once. That said, Gaiden is a very overshadowed and unseen gem out of the FE series, and I'm a little enthused to see where it will turn up. I believe the announcement said it will only be for New 3DS, which would hamper me as I don't own one of those, but...if anyone out there is planning on getting it, please let me know how it turns out.
@[member="Eclipse"] It will be just a regular 3DS game. Fire Emblem Warriors is the one that can only be played on New 3DS.
Oh! Then I got my memory backwards - in that case, I can definitely mark this down as a possible. I'd still like to adopt a wait-and-see approach, though, just to be sure. There's no guarantee that I'll like it just off this announcement alone, so I'll need a bit more data.
I think they did a great job with the art style as well. It captures the old FE1-5 feel while still feeling modern.
I love what I've seen so far, I just wounder if this is why Corrin Amiibo hasn't released. That being said I hope they bring back the Hero Battles from Fates....
As more and more info comes out about this game the more excited I get. It is retaining a lot of the quirks about Gaiden which is neat and will add to the games character in my opinion. Also the music is top notch.
They announced the limited edition version!!!! http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/games/fire-emblem-echoes-shadows-of-valentia-limited-edition/129160
I have the limited edition and so far the game has been better than either Awakening or Fates for me. Those games had a lot of empty story between chapters and SoV doesn't have that as much with the sidequests and, the for me, better-entwining storylines so far. Being able to move over the map and be attacked when you aren't paying attention is really nice.
Gaiden was my first FE game and this remake is Great! I mean its actually faster... The one thing I didn't like about Gaiden was it was SO SLOW. The VA is amazing, Maps are way improved, Weapon skills are very balanced, Story is more then a Paragraph long yet still true to the story, and the art is much better (People don't look like Llamas)
It is really good! I like the lack of skills and the simpler way of playing. It is not easy by any means, but I can find myself being more amused getting the good stuff here than I every did with the previous games, as I feel like I earned it. Not just bought it and went on my merry way.
I played it for ages when I first got it. I really liked it and how it felt as a remake. And controlling two different armies is really fun and challenging, in its own way. I should pick it up again.
