Peter Capaldi Leaving Doctor Who

I have been waiting! I skipped his entire arc because I just hated his acting so much. He was, imo, the worst doctor, so I am happy that we can start watching again once he is gone.

 

I liked him, nowhere near as much as Matt Smith who was my fave, but I didn't hate him. I want the next Doctor to be a combination of Matt Smith and David Tennant. Someone who has a serious side but a fun one as well. Despite my love for Matt Smith I felt he was too childish at times and that David Tennant was too solemn. I figured Capaldi would be leaving soon, thoguh I missed almost all of his second season as I didn't like Clara that much.

 

GOSH DARN IT WHY DO THEY ALWAYS LEAVE BEFORE I CAN FULLY CATCH UP!?

As I stated, I haven't fully caught up with Doctor Who, due to my lack of the proper channels to do so. I've seen a few of his episodes, but not enough to have formed a strong opinion about him. I'm sure I'll be sad about it in the future.

 

I wasn't overly attached to Capaldi. I'll be interested to see how 12 interacts with the new companion, and after finding that out, I may be a bit more upset. Still, it opens up all sorts of exciting prospects for the next Doctor!
Personally, I'd like to see someone entirely new. Of course, it really depends on the next companion, but I really don't want to see another Smith or Tennant. Oh, I loved them as Doctors, but I'd also like to see different sides to him, which Capaldi definitely accomplished; I'd like more of that.

 

That is another reason we didn't watch his season XD We were so sick of Clara and her wishiwashi acting and attitude. Sometimes it would feel like she tried to steal the show but couldn't quiet give it her all.

 

Though that's also the fault of the writers for writing her character like that, so it isn't all her fault, just partially

 

As someone who has watched from the very first episode all the way through, I'll say this: I don't like the actors leaving early. Back in the original days, a doctor would stay for a very long time, and it was a properly big deal when they changed over, because we all know that the whole point is that although he does have extra lives, it's not meant to be infinite.

When Christopher Eccleston left it was such an insult to me because he said he was going so soon because he didn't want to be typecast, but that's the thing, these roles are legendary and it's an honour to be so! It's wasteful of the character's value to go through new incarnations like tissues, I realize the plot is pretty convuluted at this point (another thing I'm bothered by) so maybe they have decided he does have infinite lives now but last I heard he still have a limit. Either way, it entirely defeats the point to just change him every year or two, it's just way too often. He's not a revolving door of faces, he's just long living.

I don't imagine most people agree with me on this but a lot of people have only started to watch it from the new point so it's not as if they've had to watch him go through as many changes either. I feel like the series is going to be milked for all it's worth rather than crafted and respected. But that could be true of most things these days.
