Of the many moves offered as TMs or HMs in the main series Pokémon games, some were deemed as not making much sense to being offered via TM/HM. What moves offered via TM/HM at one point or another do you think were downright silly or ridiculous to offer in that way? I always thought it was unnecesary to offer Softboiled as a TM move in Generation I, since the only Pokémon besides Mew that could learn it was Chansey - why GameFreak didn't bother programming said move into Chansey's level-up learnset from the beginning is beyond me. (Thankfully, though, Chansey and Blissey are able to learn Softboiled via level-up from Generation II onwards.)
Flash just lights up places and lowers opponent's accuracy. Defog just gets rid of fog and lowers opponent's evasion.
Do I need to explain why Cut is worthless? I agree about Flash and Defog moves, I thought they were a waste of a move slot just so you could get through one or two areas and then never use them again. And I can't think of anything else, hooray.
Fly is a terrible HM or now TM. If it has wings it should learn fly naturally, it can use other flying moves but not able to actually fly, even if the sprite is hovering or flying.
Water Gun in gen 1. My squirtle learned it naturally and at that point in the game, not many other water Pokémon were avaliable so the TM was practically worthless.
All of the HMs except for Surf were useless. They just took up space. And you can't delete the without a move deleter
I can't say I spend a lot of time paying attention to the TMs but I think defog is one that really just isn't needed, I understood where they tried to go with flash at least but then having defog is just another version of that XD honestly no longer having a HM slave required and TMs being reusable now means I don't really mind what they do with them, as long as good ones aren't absent they can have useless ones and I'll just collect them anyway and not use them
Defog can have a little more use than that in how it also removes entry hazards like spikes and rocks. But I agree with Flash being useless.
Bide was worthless, Waterfall and surf were the only good HMs for me, Never knew about soft boiled, and that's about all I've got.
Flash and Confide are kind of useless in my opinion. Snatch too back in gen III because the move does nothing, really.
