So, as the title implies, this is about making a fictional language. Now, you may be asking, "Gamer, why do you want to make a fictional language?" or "Gamer, why do you assume we'd ask that?", and well, one, I'm brainstorming for my medieval fantasy story (Orcs, Elves, Etc.), and two, I thought it'd be funny... Anyway, does anyone have any advice, or has actually done such a thing before?

I haven't written a fictional language myself but I plan to do it in the future. Something I would suggest, start by making different letter combinations and pronounce them. For simple concepts like happy you will want to have an easy and quick word to pronounce. For complicated ideas, try longer or more complex words. Another idea is to look at real world languages for inspiration. For example American Sign Language uses the same signs for different words but how you express yourself while performing the sign means everything. Example, "Don't care" and "Do you care?" very similar in sign form but by leaning in and looking really intense offers a question where looking laid back offers the statement. Hope this helps a little.

I would make sure you have some translations available, if you make your own language keep a dictionary of it so you can continue to use your own made up words properly.

Apart from what's already said here, I would also suggest possibly trying to learn another language, either a made up or real one, but one that's really uncommon, as a way of getting into the mindset of a new language that's already set up. I haven't made my own language nor desire to but I like to learn others, even just learning heiroglyphs was really informative, it gives you a new perpsective about the ways in which languages can differ structurally so that you don't end up with just a "this symbol is this letter" straight over english type thing (for example, left to the right or right to left, nouns and verbs, how will they be handled etc, ) Without having learned other languages I would never have noticed that sometimes the adjective comes after the noun instead of before etc,

Well, I've never done it and I don't intend to, since I can barely speak English without stumbling over my own words :)
Some of the greatest fantasy books have made-up languages, or even languages that are almost obsolete in our world, Eragon and Percy Jackson respectively. I'd say have the potential human characters not understand the non-humans, and have certain shots from the non-humans POV where they understand each other.
    For example:
    Bob the Human's P.O.V.

    Orc: GRUNT GRUNT GROAN

    Orc's P.O.V.

    Granite the Orc: Hello
    Org the Orc: Hi

    How's that?

I don't plan to, but if I ever try to create a fictional language, I wouldn't be able to create anything more than a few phrases or sentences at the most.

I don't think I can, but it would be so cool to do it. Now if I need a fictional language I turn to Runes/old English.

I have actually used a fictional language before, Draconic, in my earlier stories, but I always translated it to English. I have actually created a fictonal language that is supposed to been from the olden days of the Pokémon World in Unova, and it tied directly o the descendants of the Twin Brothers of Unova.
