I'm Australian, I'm an artist, and I'm great at breaking things. I'm also tired.

    Anyway, ask away!

Regarding your condition, what are some symptoms/habits that you've noticed in yourself that could be attributed to it?

What sorts of things do you like to draw and write about the most?

Quite a few things that happened particularly when I was younger that I never associated with it. Fidgeting, sensitivity to sounds, trouble understanding social cues, etc.

I used to be incredibly blind to what other people were doing in social situations. I've learned to notice things like when it's the appropriate time to say certain things, but I used to never think before I did or said anything. I still feel awkward in social situations, but I've gotten much better at socialising than I was when I was younger. Reading people was a challenge, too, but I'm considerably better now. Like, 50% of the time :P

Loud noises are incredibly stressful for me, especially when they come out of the blue. I also tend to freak out when I'm in a large, loud crowd of unfamiliar people or if somebody starts shouting suddenly. It doesn't matter if they're angry or not or I know they don't mean anything by it, if they start yelling for no reason, it freaks me out. I can usually handle noise, but when I'm stressed, it really gets to me.

And I can't sit still. I hardly ever consciously think about it, but whenever I have to sit down, I'm always fidgeting with jewellery, picking my nails, tearing up leaves, etc. Sometimes, I notice and make myself stop, but I'm always back at it a minute later.

On the plus side, I can hyper-focus on things when I really want to get things done. Pity it cost me my social skills :P

I write about fantasy and sci-fi most of all. I think I draw more fanart than things from my own stories, but that's mostly due to the fact that the people following me don't know what I write as I've hardly published anything. I started writing one of my stories about a girl with supernatural abilities going to a magic school in Canada on Wattpad, but soon redid the entire plot, rendering what I'd done pretty much worthless.

I used to write more about animals, with one story about packs of wolves and this other idea I started about cats with magical collars that I haven't touched in years. I write more about people nowadays when I get around to it, though I'm at the moment just working on Pokémon fanfics.

I have about ten story ideas taking place in my head that I have yet to write down. Most are just a mishmash of scenes and characters with the barest hint of a plot but I hope I'll soon have the time to clean them up enough to make them writeable.

Why do you like writing fanfics?

Have you ever had any pets?

What animal do you think is the scariest?

I have an account on Fanfiction.net that I've had for several years, though I deleted a lot of my older stories to make way for new ones. I'm currently working on three at once (all of them Pokémon fics. Two on FF.net and one here), so updates have been rather slow. I'm pretty uninspired to work on my Fanfiction.net stories due to a lack of response from my readers, but I still have plenty of ideas for them and hope to finish them in the future.

A lot, in fact! Most have been family pets, like when we had two hives of bees that eventually died, but we got plenty of free honey from them in exchange for the occasional sting due to there being so many near the house. We also had fish a long time ago (they all also died) and two rats, who eventually died. And a rabbit and two guinea pigs, who (yep, you guessed it) died. Most of them we got when I was young and died of old age.

Right now, we have two dogs that are part Pomeranian and part something else, making them small and incredibly cuddly. I think they're also part rottweiler as they're black with those tan dots on their faces, but we still have no idea after six years of owning them.

That's a tricky question as I for some reason think that animals that are usually seen as scary or dangerous are pretty cute. Big cats, snakes, sharks, spiders... Though if I were to choose, I'd say spiders. That's namely because I live in Australia where the top ten most venomous animals live under everybody's house and the spiders have a nasty habit of popping up inside your home. Snakes won't bite unless provoked, bees usually won't sting as it kills then and sharks don't eat people as part of their diet. I usually don't mind spiders, but the second I see one in my house, I instantly freak out and get somebody to make sure it doesn't escape as I go to get a glass to use to move it outside.

The same goes for blood-sucking parasites like leeches and ticks. I haven't come across them too much (it's usually the dogs that fall victim to ticks), but I remember one time I found a leech attached to me and I tore it off before spending the next five minutes screaming at my boyfriend to kill it while he alternated between laughing and trying to calm me down. They're less harmful than many of the local spiders, but they make me feel a great deal more uncomfortable.

That's a really hard one as the further back I go, I can't remember which memory's earlier and they're all vague and foggy... But I think the earliest one I can remember was when I was around 3-4 and at preschool. There were these giant paper fish lying around that we were meant to play with and some other kids started to tear them up. Me, being eager to fit in followed suit and we all got in trouble.

Man I know some of what you are going through cause I have Tourrette's Syndrome, so yay company!

How does the whole seeing in pictures thing work for you? (If you don't feel comfortable, please ignore this one)

Have you ever heard of Temple Grandin?

Don't be sorry, that's not a loaded question at all for me :P

I've been incredibly satisfied with life so far. True, there's been a lot that's happened to me that wasn't all that pleasant, but I've overcome them in time. I'm better off than a lot of people in this world and I'm grateful for that.

But still, I'm only 17. I'm still living with my parents and in school, so I haven't been released into the big, wide world just yet. Maybe some of my views will change; I might find difficulty getting a stable job or getting time to do the things that I enjoy. But for mow, I'm satisfied with what's happening and how I am.

... Although I would prefer not to have to do four major works to complete my High School Certificate this year...

    --

Oh, really? I only know one person with Tourrettes (or at least, only one person who I know has it), so my knowledge on it is rather limited. What's it like living with it if you don't mind me asking?
I'm not sure if I see things in pictures. I mean, when I think of something it usually plays like a movie in my head where I can see everything happening while simultaneously seeing what's in front of me. For example when I'm thinking of what I want to write, I can see the scene happening. I admit, I've never had anybody talking about thinking in pictures to me before. Does that sound like what you were asking me about?
I actually have! My parents talked about her a bit when I was younger and I think we were going to see the movie about her, but we never got around to it. I thought she was pretty cool, especially how she understands animals so well; a trait that I couldn't help but envy.

That's so awesome. It's really weird to see both what's happening in your head while seeing what's happening with your own eyes at the same time.

As a matter of fact, no. I don't think that name rings any bells.

He is for me who temple Grandin is for you. He is an award winning teacher with Tourrette Syndrome. He is one of the people who paved the way for me to even have a job. He is the person that I even today look up to for showing me that I have a disorder but it does not have me.

Who do you look up to the most as a role model?

Wow, that's pretty amazing. I don't know too much about famous autistics. I only recently began to think about it as during most of my childhood, I never put much thought toward it despite being diagnosed at a young age. I've recently being doing a bit of reading on media representation. I've also become really interested in how neurotypicals view my disorder as well as others'.

This might sound pretty generic, but my mum. I've always been amazed at how she's able to socialise with pretty much anybody (something that's incredibly difficult and awkward for me) and she seems to be able to make friends with almost anybody. She's also really great at just getting things done; another thing that I'm pretty terrible at. She's also great at problem solving, comforting, organising... There are so many things about her that I aspire to be someday.

Ever heard of the book, At the Front of the Class? Hallmark made it into a movie and it is a good one to learn about the struggles of anyone who has TS and some of it can apply to autism too. I've had friends with different levels of autism so I can understand a few things as well as relate. Be that as it may it doesn't make me anywhere close to being an expert on autism or TS.

Anyway time for something not so heavy.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Do you have a favorite TV show or movie?

Favourite scent? I really like lavender, especially if it's been dried. It's got this nice sweet bitter earthy smell. I started to really like it when one of my friends gave me a bag of it when I was about 6 or so.

I guess getting appreciation for the things that I do. That basically means people look at my art, read my stories/fanfictions, etc. That never fails to make me happy. Every artist wants to feel as if their work means something to somebody and I'm no exception. That's why one of my biggest pet peeves is when somebody follows or favourites my story, but doesn't review. I get that it takes time, but it shows that the reader cares enough to take that time to show their appreciation to the creator.

Ah, that's just my opinion anyway.

Snivy's my favourite Unovan starter, I just so happened to get my adoptable in a Wonder Trade. My favourite starter's chimchar, mainly because it was my starter in the first Pokémon game I ever played to completion.

No, I can't say I have, but it does sound interesting and I think I might give it a read or watch sometime.

I like to read, draw and write when I can. I usually end up doing it when I'm meant to be working though. Such as right now. I really should be doing my English homework, but it's so boring...

Something that you should know first: I am the least decisive person I know.

My favourite TV show would either be Avatar, Steven Universe or Rick and Morty. A weird combination, I know but I love all three of them. I'm not sure which one I like better, though. I don't watch many shows, though my sister and one of my friends are trying to introduce me to some but I don't want to start anything this year as I'll be busy enough finishing high school. I used to really love Supernatural, but I started to lose interest after the fifth season. I feel as if they've dragged that show on way too long and it's lost a lot of its charm.

As for movies, that's a lot harder for me to decide. There's Inside Out, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Lego Movie... Again, an odd selection. The more I think about the different movies I've seen, the harder it is to pick just one. I found Inside Out amazingly clever, Winter Soldier made me cry and I just loved how unexpectedly good the Lego Movie was.

I want to get a job first, preferably in a bookstore or art shop. I think I might study more in a few years, but I want to gain experience from work first. If I do go to university, I'm not sure what I'll study just yet so I think I might put it off until I really know what I want to do. It's not much of a plan, but it's better than nothing.

As far as I know, no. But who knows? :P
