There are tons of different personality types out there! What type of character is your favorite to write and why? =) What do you enjoy most about writing these types of characters? Do you enjoy detailing their variety of facial expressions, or maybe their way of speaking and reactions to certain things?

I enjoy writing my angsty protagonists more than my naive protagonists. See, where most of my naive heroes learn about the cruelty of life and work around it, my angsty protagonists usually get very jaded to everything. I enjoy giving something they care about and writing them slowly losing their cynicism and becoming actual heroes. So, I enjoy writing cynical characters the most for that reason.

I really like writing characters with humor, whether it be sarcastic or just really not taking anything seriously. It's fun to have a bit of light-heartedness even in the most serious scenes, as well as optimism. I tend to give them purposely over-exaggerated reactions and stuff. I also like characters that are just done with everything, because I love imagining them with "Are you serious right now," and "I am so frikkin' sick of this," sort of expressions.

I like writing kindness and sweetness, I have issues just being mean enough or sassy enough. I like to try using action over facial expression but I am working on trying to combine them both.

I like writing child characters. I know, it's pretty weird considering I'm not used to children in real life, but writing child characters is fun... but as I've seen in some forms of media, it's also really easy to screw up. Just remember that children are still just as human as adults, but they're a lot more impressionable. Anything new that they see is much bigger in their perspective (Example: A child learns the hard way that fire hurts, so they eventually grow up avoiding it like the plague).

I love to write loud and dramatic characters. They're very vocal and tend to have a lot of movement and it's really fun to describe them and how they interact with their environment and the other characters.

I enjoy writing characters that are inquisitive and bold. It hardly feels like I'm having to come up with much to write for them at all and more like they write themselves. It's a lot of fun to write for characters that come so naturally to me.

I love writing about jerky characters. I don't know why, but I like seeing when someone with a grouchy attitude has a situation thrown at them, and they respond with something like, "Are you actually being serious" or "That's stupid I'm not doing that". Characters like that make me smile, and might be the reason why one of the characters in my first fanfic was my favorite... XD

I love to write all types of characters, but nothing will ever top writing "tsundere" characters. Characters with a tough exterior but are actually just the sweetest and purest things inside are so much fun to write.

Along with that, I love writing characters that are just little balls of energy bouncing off the wall, especially if they're trying to interact with people that hate them. Good stuff.

I love writing scientific character. Those who know or are trying to understand the natural world around them. Since I am pursuing a degree in scientific researching I tend to like to write characters who are trying to understand the fundamental world and genuinely caring about their research. People who value knowledge and wish to use that knowledge to better the world or increase their understanding.

And with our powers combined, we will make the best cast of characters this world has ever seen!
The kindhearted, the humorous, the jerk, the bold, the dramatic, the child, the scientist and the wild card. I'd read it.

I really like writing angsty-gothy characters with a sort of 'wall' around them, eg pretending they don't care when they really do. It's just so satisfying when they finally open up to that one person. The OC from my first fanfic is this kind of character, and she's one of the easiest to write for me, mostly because she's really closely based off me. I also love the whole angry-sad combo going on, it makes her seem unstable and again, more like me.
    Yes, I am messed up.

I like writing characters that aren't quite what they seem. For example, one of my characters is a (former) thief who is in general very pragmatic and not exactly a people person, but treats his pets like family and does have a moral code.

I also like writing morally gray characters, such as the above example.

I guess that I like writing characters with similar mental disorders to me, and put them into situations that can either make them stand or set off their triggers. Why is there not a lot of Pokémon fan fiction with characters with any disorder. I found several, but not a lot.

I also adore writing that one character who seems to...how do I put this? Thinks in poetry? It's like they see the world slightly differently and, although they seem normal on the outside, think of everything in a way that just seems so different. I like that because I can put in a whole bunch of obscure metaphors (because I'm just not confusing enough). Kind of like the oldest dragons from Inheritance, the last Eragon book, that character comprehends the world differently and maybe accepts and likes it. Whiteout, the NightWing/IceWing fusion from the Wings Of Fire book Darkstalker-Legends is this kind of character, and that's one of the reasons why I like her so much.

On the topic of 'normal on the outside', the aforementioned OC I created on my first fanfiction is also really enjoyable to write because...how do I put this nicely? Screw it, I'm saying so. She's not entirely stable. Actually, she's very disturbed and probably a mental case who, somehow, knows she is and takes it laughing. She knows she's constantly on the verge of snapping, and she actually enjoys it a lot more than she'll admit. It's that kind of insanity, that kind of crazy uncaring because she doesn't fit in and makes no effort to try, that kind of madness that isn't flat-out crazy, but close enough gives her the sort of chained/free feeling whenever I write from her POV. Call me crazy-no really, she's basically me...
