Just read Acrhomatic's Platinum Nuzlocke where he got practically destroyed (RIP Pringles, OP Goldeen is OP). And it got me thinking about a very interesting question.

What is the hardest Pokémon game to run Nuzlocke on?

I've never done a dedicated nuzlocke run personally, but I have my suspicion that Emerald is the hardest Nuzlocke. Considering particular gyms (Brawly, Watson, the Twins), a hellish elite four, and a limited selection of powerful Pokémon, I think it's the hardest.

Oh crap why did I decide to do Emerald as my first nuzlocke???

Emerald actually isn't that hard for me so far. I've beaten the first two gyms easily so far, and the next few should be simple enough (because strategies yay).

The Johto games seem a bit challenging to me, just by watching Achromatic play it. So I could say that, or any other third part to tge Region (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, etc.)

I think Black/White has to be the most fun games for a Nuzlocke run if you take into account that the game's all about the rights and abuse of Pokémon. The recurring themes of death and loss within the challenge provide some extra guilt-tripping.

But as for the hardest game, I think I might have to go with the first generation. Granted, I've never played a Nuzlocke run in Red or Blue, but any run I've played normally, it's taken me multiple tries to beat the Elite Four. Countless tries that one can't afford in a Nuzlocke run...

I think playing a game like Crystal, you have x2 gyms and x2 elite four, since you go to two regions, to battle could be interesting.

Looks like 1st and 2nd generation take the cake, eh? Seems that way; Pokémon games, for a time, did get progressively easier. Especially in RGBY, when you had Gary who was always a step ahead of you, or GSC with the obscene amount of gyms to fight against, and the type match-ups you have to deal with, both are pretty difficult. I suspect that EXP share in recent games loosens difficulty as well.

Of course, you could always toggle EXP share off. XD

I have a new hard one. It's Yellow. OMG it took such a long time for my Pokémon to defeat the first Gym, because I had no Pokémon that could kill either of Brock's Pokémon. I had the thought of quitting the game, and that was when I actually beat him. If someone were to do a nuzlocke for that, they'd either have to grind like crazy or just suffer defeat.

To be honest. It all drpends on the rules you are imposing on yourself. Limited heals makes a playtrough a lot harder than it normally is. Or not buying more than ten balls per Mart is also making your life harder.

No experience with Nuzlocks specifically by I assumed RBY was quite hard because I was just super young when I played it, and thats why the other games get progressively easier, I'm just better able to figure out type matchups etc, but I guess it's still limited in terms of things like the exp share like others said.

is it possible to do a nuzlock in the spin offs? nuzlock mystery dungeon??? HAHA
