Kingdra vs. Suicune

Hey guys. Today's competitive battling discussion will be about two UU set up sweepers. Kingdra (with Dragon Dance) and Suicune (with Calm Mind) can be dangerous threats if not taken care of right away.

I think Suicune is the better Pokémon because it has greater defenses that would allow it to set up more calm minds than Kingdra can D-dance. Suicune's most dangerous set has three moves that provide perfect coverage, electric/ice that covers every type and STAB water. Kingdra's coverage is pretty good with Outrage and Waterfall, however, Empoleon resists both moves and can attack with its high special attack. Flygon can also switch in on a Dragon Dance Kingdra, and if Kingdra isn't at +2 or higher, then Flygon can take care of Kingdra (by killing it or forcing it to lock on outrage). On the other hand, Suicune is more difficult to counter, but it's doable with Shaymin and Roserade as long as they are faster than Suicune and don't let Suicune boost its stats multiple times.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking about swift swim. Even though it has that ability, it is rarely utilized in a metagame where no Pokémon can use drizzle ability. When I think of UU, I think of bulky offensive teams, stall teams, and balanced teams. Kingdra has a hard time beating a core of steel/water types like Slowbro and Registeel; Suicune has its issues with fast Electric and Grass types, but its variety of options (I might sound redundant, but it's true) and ability to take hits (along with great sp. atk) just makes me feel that Suicune is superior to Kingdra.
