In line with the Halloween events going on right now, has anyone ever encountered a ghost? Wanna share the story? Do you believe in ghosts at all?

So on that note, here's mine. I'm putting it in a spoiler tab because it's really long. x_x

Back in a previous apartment where I probably spent the majority of my life, I had always had this feeling that something was watching over the building and didn't like people messing with it. So this all started when my sister, whose room was in the attic of the apartment, had accidentally kicked a hole in a wall when she had been laying in bed with her foot against the wall. One night shortly after that, I was asleep in my room when I woke up feeling more exhausted than I ever had before. I could move, so I knew it wasn't sleep paralysis and I've never had sleep paralysis before so it would be strange if it only happened the one time. I was woken up by what sounded like someone talking to me. Right away I noticed how tired I was and I was almost overwhelmed by this horrible feeling of fear. I looked down at the foot of my bed and saw a shadowy figure that was sort of like the smokey silhouette of a man. He shouted "hey!" at me, like he was trying to get my attention. I lifted my head off of my pillow to get a better look at him, but I was so exhausted for some reason that, in spite of that horrible fear I felt, I just mumbled, "Just let me sleep" and fell immediately back to sleep.

When I woke up the next morning I realized I was laying further down on the pillow than I usually do. In fact, I don't think I've ever woken up that way before or since. It's weird because that's the position I had woken up in during the middle of the night and I hadn't moved at all after I had gone back to sleep. Initially I thought I had just dreamed it, but since I had fallen asleep and woken up in that position, I wasn't sure. Actually looking back on it years later, it kind of seems like to be laying in that position, the shadow I saw must have dragged me closer to the foot of the bed before it woke me up. I don't know for sure that it happened, but the idea kind of scares me.

So for a while I wasn't sure if it had been a dream or not. Then maybe a day or two later my sister and I were both in the kitchen and she randomly said, "You won't believe what happened to me the other night." Then she went on to describe the same thing that I had seen. There was a shadow of a man at the foot of her bed, right in front of where she had kicked the hole in her wall. She woke up from it shouting "Hey!" at her just like it did to me and she was so scared by it that she ran down the stairs in the dark and slept in the living room. This freaked me out because she had described the same thing that happened to me without me ever mentioning anything about what had happened, so I knew she had to be telling the truth and that it wasn't just a dream. Of course, I told her that I had seen the same thing, but since she had brought it up first she didn't believe me.

After that point, I didn't bring it up again because no one would believe me, but weird things kept happening. I think the ghost or whatever it was kind of latched onto me because it didn't get a reaction out of me the first time, or maybe things were happening to the rest of the family too and none of us were talking to each other. I'm not sure. On several occasions it would show up again, never as clear as the first time, but sometimes before I had fallen asleep, so I knew I wasn't dreaming. Footprints started to appear on my carpet, looking as if they had walked from the foot of my bed and stopped behind my computer chair where I spent a lot of my time, as if it was looking over my shoulder, then walked to a door that separated my room from my mom's room, which was blocked on my side by a cabinet and by my mom's bed on the other.

Even when I didn't see things, I would hear footsteps around my room at night. There was a particularly bad night where I heard something leafing through some papers on my desk and then heard a sound like someone slamming their hand down on my desk. After a while my sister moved out and my mom started having nightmares. Again though, neither of them mentioned anything specific that was going on. My mom and I moved out just a few months after my sister did.

We hadn't been allowed to have a dog at the previous place so almost immediately we went to adopt one. She slept in my bed every night and after the first couple of nights I woke up to her growling and barking at something. I looked around, my eyes were pretty well adjusted to the dark, but I didn't see anything. I thought she had just been having a nightmare or something, so I calmed her down and we went back to bed. This happened a few more times, then one night when she woke me up with her barking, there was actually something there. On the right side of my room there was a spherical mass that looked like the same dark smoke the man's silhouette had been made out of. I watched it rise in the air and move slowly from right to left across the room. There was a sound like floorboards creaking underneath it, though I couldn't hear any footsteps. As I watched it, my dog did too. I saw her head following it and she growled at it the whole time. Then it suddenly just disappeared near the ceiling and she shopped growling right when it did and turned to look at me, like she was saying "Where did it go?" I didn't get that same sense of fear from it that I did all the times I saw stuff in the previous place, so I don't know if it was the same thing or something else.

The most eerie part about it was having someone else there who could see it too. It was one thing to have my sister describe exactly what I saw and another for me and my dog to be watching the same thing that was happening, together in the same room at the same time. It's just too bad that since she's a dog she can't vouch for me, but ever since then, it never appeared again and she never woke up barking again, so I think she might have scared it off.

I don't believe in ghosts but I think people who believe in them do see them - the mind is a powerful tool after all, and my sister claims to see them and I choose not to think she's crazy for thinking so.

That said I encourage anyone who sees ghosts to seek some form of calm. I can't imagine seeing ghosts as being a good thing and I hope anyone who does can find a sense of piece.

When I was a kid I used to see a white mass moving in my parents room between the entrance to their bathroom and behind their bed. It would usually show up when I was home alone and whenever I'd go back there to check on it, there would be nothing. Years after it stopped showing up I mentioned it to my mom and she just chalked it up to me seeing her doing the laundry. But again, I distinctly remember it happening usually when I was alone, so even if it was that sometimes, it couldn't have been all of the time.

I'm unsure on ghosts, although I have seen unexplainable things.
When I was younger, younger than 10, we had only 1 TV with a AUX plug for my Playstation, which was in my grandparents room. From there I could see shadows from people coming into the house from our old glass sliding door. Grandparents owned a small auto repair service, so sometimes a family with some kids would come.. One day while I was in there playing a game, I heard the sound of the door opening and saw the shadow of someone peeking in. It didn't look like my grandparents, more like a child, but I was too scared to go look until the shadow vanished and I realized that I didn't hear the door close. Went to go look, and the door wasn't open, and when I asked my grandparents later that day, no kids were there and they hadn't come in around that time. So what the heck did I see and hear?

I once saw a shadow-y figure when I was a bit older than 10, younger than 15..not sure on the exact age. At the time grandpa was renting a building that was originally a bar, and it had seen some fights and stuff..pretty sure I saw some old blood splatters in some areas that we painted over. I, being too young to be much help as the place was converted into a auction building, had a private space to stay in and do whatever until the auction was over. One day, while in that little space, I saw a shadowy blob watching me from a corner. I also saw shadow blobs in other areas such as a back area of the kitchen and in another room in the building. I always felt like I was being watched and unwelcomed. I miss the place, despite those feelings, however. We rented the place for over 10 years, a lot of my childhood was spent in there.

A few months after grandma passed away, I moved into a 3 room apartment that was originally a 8 room house that grandma and grandpa lived in while they were raising my dad and they moved out when I was a toddler. (They removed over half of the house, hence why it went from 8 to 3 rooms) First week was fine, then the second or third week I started to hear footsteps, saw boxes and stuff move slightly, caught drawers open slightly, and once saw glowing eyes staring at me from the one exit of my room. I was terrified and considered moving back into the house due to the fact I was so scared I couldn't sleep. Then after 7 days of this I had a dream that it was grandma, apologizing for scaring me with her presence as she was inspecting my new living space. After that dream I never had a odd experience in my new place. I'm still here, 4 years later..

Aww that last one is kind of cute. The first one reminded me of something that happened to me when I was really little. I still don't know what it was, but it was probably just an animal outside. I was looking out the glass kitchen door one night and I saw a pair of glowing eyes moving towards the house and saw it blinking. It looked like the eyes were glowing, not just reflecting light, but I was really young so I might just be remembering it wrong. It really freaked me out though. I ran to my mom and she said it was probably just an owl.

I remember this long and winding rant about ghosts and beauty that I posted somewhere really early in my LV career...anyways, I choose to believe in ghosts, simply because the human mind is a powerful tool, and if enough people believe in it, SOMETHING must happen, right?
    Onto the story.

So, when I was around five or so, I had these little dinosaur figurines that I absolutely loved, played with them all the time, insert long and fluffy story here. The 'leader' was a T. Rex called Tyranny (I imagined it as an evil king-I was a messed-up child).

I set them up on my bedside table, same positions as every night. An exact circle. Then, I had a dream about Tyranny moving by itself, turning and gliding around. It turned outside of the circle (I always made them face inside).
When I woke up, Tyranny was facing outside the circle. I didn't move it by accident in my sleep. The table was four feet away.
    Cheerful.

I've had a lot of things like that happen to me before, but I wonder if I might have been sleep walking because I always had dreams about the things that happened during the middle of the night. Weirdly though it stopped happening after I moved out of that apartment I mentioned in my story. So I don't know. :s

Hopefully it was just sleepwalking, or maybe I just woke up and was super confused and thought that the things were moving. If it wasn't...*plays spooky music*

I do believe in ghosts and spirits. I'd like to think they aren't around, but to my dismay.
    Not the case.

Just like heaven and hell I think exists, as does ghosts.
Never had any personal exp though.

When I was younger, I always thought there was a ghost in my hallway. The door would sway on its own occasionally and I would hear my mother call for me (can ghosts talk?). I'm not really sure if I believe in ghosts or not, but my hallway is still a little suspicious <.<

I do believe in them, and think that most ghosts are actually very kind/at peace with themselves, which is why they don't show themselves. The scary ones are actually the minority, and are mad about one thing or another.

i work at an amusement park. Once, during the days where i'm working around 50-60 hrs per week, i saw a little girl on the ride during a test run where only technicians are allowed. No one else saw the girl. Not sure if i imagined it :/ But afterwards my colleagues told me a few stories about a little girl appearing where she shouldn't be.

So it was my final finals week back in may 2014, I was out side of Spellmann cetner at Lindenwood University in St. Charles Missouri. It was about 3 in the morning and I was pacing around trying to wear myself out enough to fall asleep. I looked through the corner of my eye itno the windows of the building and saw a women in what looked like an 1800's style dress walking on the thrids floor. I turned and saw here disapear into the elevator, she was all white, dress and all. L looked at the elevator door, they NEVER opened. I swear it was the ghost of Mary Sibbly, one of the two founders of the school. She died and is burried in a family cemetary on the campus and is said to look after the students to this day. The next day I looked at a portrait of here and it was an EXACT match! I didn't fully believe until this happened.

We were staying at the St Anthony Hotel (a hotel that's really well known for being haunted) in San Antonio, TX and there's a story about the elevator stopping at the 5th floor and there being no one there (like something happened on that floor) well anyways we were heading down to the lobby for something and the elevator stopped on the 5th floor and no one was there

To be honest, I'm not sure if it was a paranormal experience or just my imagination. I have no real opinion on ghosts. If something happens I take care of both points, it can be a spirit ir just my imagination.

One of my experience which I think would be perfect was a dream. One night, I was sleeping and that day I dreamt horrible thing. I was standing and suddenly ghost possessed my body. I was crying out in pain and to my surprise I was feeling it. I really cried in dream and when I woke up it was 3am. I looked gere and there in terror but everything was normal. I concluded it as a nightmare. Same dream repeated itself every night for 5-6 days and every time in the end of the dream, just before I wake up I cry out god's name. Well in my opinion, it can be a little scary like it was but at end I concluded it was the result of my overthinking. I have nothing for a ghost to possess me afterall but yup that dream chain made me believe a little more on ghosts and god. Bad spirits and good spirits. I've not encountered any nightmare for a while now and am happy that I didn't.

I've personally never encountered one, but my dad tells me stories from his childhood. His backyard was a cemetery when he was growing up. He'd tell me about how the piano would randomly play and that he'd wake up and just see a figure over his bed.

Now. i dont know if ive ever encountered a GHOST. but i have encountered strange creatures before. creatures on the level of the dover demon and the jersy devil. im almost posative one lives in a wooded area near my place of employment cause whenever i go outside with coworkers we all hear the same strange noises. anything from loud chittering to warped giggling. when you venture into the area in the middle the whole place is petrified. like it had been burned down at one point. me and 4 other employees have all heard and seen the same kind of spider like creature. roaming around in different parts of town. most frequently spotted near that forest area. and a church not far from the building. we dont really have any logical explination for what this thing is but thats my "ghost" story. though its more of a demon story i suppose.
