This Come To My Mind When I Named My Lapras After My Favourite Spacecraft.I Am Not Sure That How Many Of You Had Name A Pokémon After Something Like A Place,Someone Or A Character-Share Your Experience How You Will Name A Pokémon After That Something. Here Is My Lapras: Spoiler In Case You Wonder Why I Named My Lapras After My Favourite Spacecraft,Lapras Is A Dual Water And Ice Type Pokémon As You Know. But That Dual Type Is So Perfect To Represent Enceladus-A Saturn Moon That 'Cassini',My Favourite Spacecraft Found Out That There Is Potential Life On It! That's How I Named My Lapras After 'Cassini'!
I named my Alolan Ninetales after Skadi, a goddess from Norse Mythology associated with bowhunting, skiing, winter, and mountains.
Norse Mythology is very interesting, I still need to name something Valkyrie or Walkure. They are the ones that chose who die on the battlefield and bring half to Freyja, and the other half to Valhalla. There are tonnes of gods and goddesses who are great, Loki, Thor, Odin, Idunn, Tyr, Frigga, and most of the Germanic names of the days come from them.
I almost named my ampharos Awney but I didn’t because that’s my player name. I named my rowlet egg because it was round. I’m so original.
I’m really bad at naming things so I tend to go with what’s given... If I do, in the case of Pokémon, I tend to turn to mythology. My LV Pokémon names are being ripped from some place else if I’m being honest.
I name my Pokémon whatever honestly. But my Slowpoke, Paul, was named after my favorite poketuber’s own Slowbro ^^
I'm going to just make a list because almost all of my Pokémon are named after something ~ Eggs: Ships of some sort. I named one Enterprise, because Star Trek, and it sort of stuck. Now I have a list ready for when the next batch of eggs arrives. Harry Potter: My Beedrill, Ponyta, Misdreavous, Smeargle, and Shinx are all named after Harry Potter characters Star Trek: My Moltres, Shellder, Dewgong, Vulpix, Chikorita, Natu, and Sentret are all named after Star Trek characters Berries: Christmas carols Castforms: The Beatles Eevees: Characters from one of the only mangas I read, Yostuba&! Then I have some named after OCs, two dogs named after dogs I know IRL, a Doctor Who Suicune (and an egg), a wanting Marx Brothers collection, Azelf named after a character from Calvin and Hobbes, and, of course, names I thought looked good/don't want to take up more space to explain.
I name all of my Pokémon here off of food and beverages. Some types of Pokémon that I own tend to fall into certain categories though. Like some water types are named after beverages or soup dishes, and fire types are named after hot foods and spices, etc. For some reason, my ghost types are named after alcohol.
I almost always name my Pokémon, and I will name them anything from random names, writers of songs I'm currently listening to, characters, bad puns, random food or whatever pops into mind first. It usually means they have their own bit of individuality to me, and occasionally the species gets the same name after tha.
I name my Dragonites 'Buddy' after a friend's Dragonite. He had that bad boy for years, lv 100 on Silver until his cart finally died. I call my Dragonites 'Buddy' in memory of him. Typhlosion are named 'CC Jr', as my dad's first Pokémon was a Typhlosion named CC. Female Ninetales are named 'Socky' after a cat that I had, and male Stoutlands/Arcanines are named 'Fred' after a dog that I had.
Ah sure, pretty much everything in my Pokémon Collection page has a naming theme of some kind. If I care more about the species - or I had a good idea at the time - the nickname will tend to be a lot better. If I don't really care about it that much, the nickname will have very little thought put into it - or might just be a phrase of some kind. The exception would be all of the eggs that I named "Dupe" - for the reasons that I already own said Eggs and don't need any more copies of them; I'm just stockpiling them in case trading ever becomes a thing. (If it doesn't, who wants omelet?)
Mhm, for a bunch of them! For example, my Dragonair is named Kanna, which is based off the character from the Kobayashi Maid Dragon anime.
i name some of them after what the pokéspe dexholders name theirs... for example, my pikachu’s name is chuchu. i’m definitely the most creative one around here
Most of my Pokémon are named following a association of ideas until I find a good name, or a pun. The Unowns have a name based on their form. I also named all my berries even if they’re gonna disappear because I love them.
