Gameplay Journal ninJAS' Platinum Nuzlocke: Set Mode

I have played some Randomized Nuzlocke Challenges as of late so I figured I would start a new normal nuzlocke and post some images to show my progression. Once Platinum is finished I will hopefully keep going through some other games as well. I apologize in advance if some of the images look odd because I will be playing the game and taking screenshots on my phone to post them. Not 100% sure how they will turn out so please try and bear with me >_<

Nuzlocke is by no means a new challenge but here are the rules I will be following in mine.

1) Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released or put in the PC permanently.

2) The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a double battle the player may choose which of the two Pokémon they would like to catch.

3) If the first encounter of an area is the same Pokémon or evo line of an already captured it can be skipped for the sake of variety. This means I can keep fighting Pokémon in the area until one is encountered that has not been caught yet, which then immediately counts as the first encounter.

4) Static Pokémon, gifted eggs, and a single fossil can be used but will count as your encounter for the area they were received. Legends will not be used and do not count as an areas first encounter.

5) Only one Pokémon of each type is allowed in the party at any time. This will force me to change my team around, in order to add newly captured Pokémon, and keep a balanced party even if a full team of 6 isn't achievable (Depending on the Pokémon captured).

6) I must nickname all Pokémon for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds. (I had a certain theme in mind for nicknames but if there is a Pokémon you would REALLY like named after you let me know. I will consider changing nicknames on Pokémon people request once I reach the Name Rater.)

7) If I have no Pokémon that can use a certain field move that is required to continue through any given point of the game, I may catch another Pokémon that can learn said field move. However, it cannot be used in battle for any reason, and must be released or permanently boxed as soon another Pokémon that can use said field move is captured.

8) If a Black Out/White Out occurs it is considered game over even if there are more Pokémon in the PC.

9) Stater will be chosen based on the last digit of my Trainer ID. 1-3 = Turtwig, 4-6 = Chimchar, 7-9 = Piplup, and 0 is my choice.

10) Battle style will be on Set at all times, preventing me from switching out before a Trainer can send out their next Pokémon. To make things more interesting if a party member does faint only the Pokémon to their left or right (depending on party placement) is allowed to switch in and "avenge" their fallen companion.

11) At no point outside of battle can my Pokémon's level be higher than the next Gym Leader's highest level Pokémon, or higher than level 59 before challenging the Elite Four. If a Pokémon is a higher level it will not be able to participate in the battle.

12) Healing items will be restricted in battle. 1 status and 2 healing items maximum for the entire party. Outside of battle I can use as many healing items as possible....other than revives of course.

Haha gotta make it challenging or it isn't fun to me xP randomized Heartgold is a blast. I did one not too long ago and ended up with a pretty epic team... Lost some party members in stupid ways but that's nuzlocke for ya haha good luck in your challenge!

The Journey Begins​

• Started a new file and went skipped through as much of the intro as possible since I've seen more times than I can count...
• Picked the male character despite liking the female sprite so much more and named myself Rhoa, which I tend to go by more than ninJAS nowadays. Left my rivals name as Barry.
• Checked my Trainer I'd card which ended in 3 so chose Turtwig as my starter, which I normally choose anyway since he is my favorite starter in 4th gen <3.
• Beat Barry's Chimchar, ran back and forth (grabbed the free potion from pokemart guy) between meeting Rowen at his lab (nicknamed my Turtwig Drevas) and my house to tell my mother I was leaving, and got Pokeballs from Dawn.
• First encounter on Route 201 was a female Bidoof. Caught and named her Claudia. Leveled her and Drevas up a bit before healing and heading up Route 202. (Saving my Lake encounter for later)

• First 2 encounters were Bidoofs (thank you dups clause) and 3rd was a female Shinx! Caught and named her Rina(she has Intimidate <3). Switch trained her up a bit before healing and fighting the trainers on the way to Jubilife.

​

• Observed Looker and his shenanigans.
• Beat trainers in Trainer School and gave Barry his Map.
• Talked to a few clowns to get coupons for the Poketch.

​

• Grabbed the Quick Claw from one of the houses and gave it to Drevas cause wynaut?

​

• Managed to make it through Route 204 without getting any encounters other than Bidoof (can save this route for later when I get a rod/surf) and made it to Ravaged Path.
• First encounter was a male Zubat which I caught and named Hadaron.

​

• Healed up and fought Barry without much of a challenge since his Chimchar did nothing but Leer at my Pokémon the entire battle...regardless I kept switching between Rina and Claudia just to be on the safe side.

​

• First encounter on Route 203 was a female Starly which I named Sefia. I had to box her for the time being since I already have a Normal type (Claudia) and Flying type (Hadaron) on my team. Battled the trainers on the Route then went back to Jubilife to heal.

​

Not much of a first post but I'm posting this on my phone during my lunch break at work so bear with me xD I'll try to edit in a few screenshots later.

Still have not been able to upload any screenshots...some of the ones I took were a bit blurry as I barely caught the moment while characters were moving in/out of frame or things like that. Several of my battle screenshots also ended up not saving -_- will try to post the images I have soon when I get a bit more free time.

Roark Gets Rocked!
​

• Starting off with a horrendous chapter title because I couldn't think of anything better...I apologize >.<​
• With my team now fully healed and my newly captured Starly (Sefia) placed in storage, despite Staraptor being epic, (because having a 4 Pokémon party is much better than having a 3 Pokémon party...especially in a nuzlocke) I traversed my way back through Route 203 and into Oreburgh Gate.​
• A friendly hiker stopped me for a chat before gifting me with HM06 Rock Smash! Not the best move BUT it isn't terrible. Decent def drop chance and gives a little bit of coverage against all the Rock types I'm about to run into. Immediately taught Rock Smash to Claudia since I don't want it stuck on Drevas.​
• Made it through Oreburgh Gate without encountering anything other than Zubat which is cool. Beat the 2 trainers and went out the other side into Oreburgh City.​
• Some kid stopped me and walked me to the gym where Barry was standing. He told me the gym leader was in the Oreburgh Mine...wonder if that's where all the bad kids get sent xP "SEND THE CHILDREN TO THE MINES!"​

• Before heading to the mines I went north to some of the houses looking for free stuff and to the Pokemart to stock up on supplies. Grabbed a couple of Heal Balls (which I only ever use on Nuzlockes because it can save you a trip back to heal), some normal Pokeballs, Potions, Antidotes, and Paralyze Heals. I also went and grabbed all the items scattered around outside of the mine.​
• Headed to Route 207 to grab the 2 Pokeballs on the ground and for an encounter. Was REALLY hoping for either Machop or Ponyta (already had names picked out and everything ;_; ) but ended up with a female Geodude. Caught her with a Heal Ball and named her Edea. I went ahead and taught her Rock Smash for coverage and went to training her a bit while still on the route.​

​

• Since I caught a Geodude I went back to the one house where I guy wanted to see one. He gave me a Dusk Ball which might come in handy later.​
• Healed up and made my way into the mine.​
• Battled the trainers inside and talked to Roark. He smash a rock with Rock Smash I was not impressed then made his way back towards his Gym.​

​

• I kept running around trying to get my Oreburgh Mine encounter, which was kinda rigged at this point because of the Pokémon I already caught and only 3 Pokémon appear in the mine xP, ran into nothing but Geodude and Zubat for what seemed like ages until a female Onix roared onto my screen....lots of female encounters so far >.> Her and Edea traded blows for a while until she was low enough to attempt capture...and by low enough to attempt capture I mean I almost killed her on accident Dx. Broke out of the first Pokéball but the 2nd was a success! Named her Andaria and boxed her once I got back out of the mine since I already have Edea in the party and they share typing.​

​

• Trained up a little bit before jumping into the Oreburgh gym. Drevas handled both gym trainers and Roark's Geodude/Onix solo without receiving much dmg in return thanks to x4 super effective STAB Absorb. When Cranidos came out I threw Rina into the mix to drop its attack with Intimidate she was Leered on the switch. Switched into Edea who took Headbutt like a champ and whittled Cranidos down with Rock Smash dropping it's defense twice and Roark used his Potions. The Cranidos has kept using Leer and Headbutt and I was sooo close to switching out just to get rid of the lowered defense when it used Pursuit...THANKFULLY I didn't switch out so it didn't deal double dmg but Edea survived a crit Pursuit with 2hp! She then landed her Rock Smash to finally drop the Cranidos and we earned the Coal Badge! Also, got a pretty meh TM in Stealth Rock since it doesn't have much use in nuzlocke or in game in general.​

​

• With my first badge in hand I took my team to get healed and headed back towards Jubilife. Stopped and talked to Barry at the entrance of Oreburgh Gate. He ran off and I went in. Detoured to the lower part of the gate now that I could use Rock Smash outside of battle. Encountered a female ANOTHER ONE! Going to end up with an all female team at this rate lol Psyduck which I caught and named Serin. Smashed some rocks on the lower level and grabbed TM70 Flash (can be useful) and a Big Pearl (Woo free money!)​

• Battled a few wild Pokémon in the gate to train up Serin a little bit...even found a lvl 10 Golbat in the lower lvl O_o before heading back to Jubilife and healing at the Pokémon Center.​

Liberating the Windworks!​

• Another meh chapter title but it will have to do...
• After leaving the PokeCenter in Jibilife I headed north towards Ravaged Path. Just before leaving the city Rowan and Dawn were stopped by a couple of Team Plasma Grunts who were less than friendly.

​

• Ended up having a double battle with Dawn against them. I sent out Hadaron, who joined Dawn's Piplup, while the Plasma Grunts sent out a Glameow and Stunky. Hadaron was able to land a Supersonic on both of them while Piplup pelted them with Bubbles. Luckily for my they didn't care much for Dawn's Piplup and focused it for nearly the entire battle while Hadaron slowly chipped away at the Plasma pokes health with Leech Life and confusion. Piplup fainted and I ended up having to use 2 Potions on Hadaron during the battle but it was worth it in the end as he soaked up all that double battle exp for himself <3

​

• Once the grunts run off after being defeated I healed up again to restore Hadaron's PP and headed back to Ravaged Path. Smashed through some more rocks and grabbed TM 39 Rock Tomb. Held on to it for the time being since Edea already knows Rock Throw.
• Exited Ravaged Path and continued up the second half of Route 204 encountering only Bidoof, Shinx, and Starly along the way until the very last patch of grass. A female Budew appears which I captured and named her Nalmika.

​

• Battled the trainers along the route as well as grabbing the Awakening and TM 09 Bullet Seed on the ground.
• Entered into Floaroma Town and healed at the Pokecenter before picking up the Sprayduck from the lady in the flower shop. I then proceeded to pick, plant, and water both Oran and Chesto berries since they are more useful than Pecha and Cheri at the moment.

​

• Grabbed TM 88 Pluck from the girl in the house to the left of the flower shop. I didn't teach it to Hadaron since he will learn Wing Attack at lvl 17 and they are the same base power and accuracy. Saving it for hard times

​

• Met a little girl that wanted me to save her dad on my way down Route 205..can't go anywhere else so kinda have to.

​

• Made it to Valley Windworks and grabbed my encounter in the grass. A Male Shellos! Captured and named him Klaus. Swapped him for Serin in the party and battled the Plasma Grunt outside of the Windworks.

​

• Beat him and sighed as he ran and locked himself inside forcing me to go and fight his comrades in Floaroma Meadows and get their key.

​

• Healed on my way through and beat both Grunts who were trying to steal a man's sweet....sweet....honey.... awkward. BUT he gave me a bunch of honey for saving him, which I slathered on the tree in the Meadows and prayed that it would be a female Combee because Vespiquen is dope, grabbed the Windworks key, healed in Floaroma, and made my way back to Valley Windworks and kicked the door in!

​

• Well not really a kick but that's what it should have been >.> plus I didn't go straight into the Windworks haha I trained my team up a bit in the grass outside before feeling confident enough to take on Mars and her fat cat Purugly.
• Got my party up to a decent lvl, Rina learned Spark and evolved <3 , before healing one more time and unlocking the door to the Valley Windworks.

​

• The grunt who locked himself in runs off to tell his commander there was an intruder as I beat the other grunts inside to a pulp. I healed up with some Potions and prepared to face off against Mars herself.

​

• Her Zubat was beaten by 3 Water Pulses from Klaus but he was on his 3rd turn of Toxic dmg so I had to switch him once Purugly hit the field. She used Fake Out as Rina came in for Intimidate. Rina hit Purugly with 2 Sparks dealing a decent amount of dmg and forcing the fat cat's Oran Berry to be used. I then brought in Edea who was able to finish it off with 2 Rock Smashes.

​

• With Mars defeated Team Plasma leaves and the little girl I met earlier rushes in to greet her father....she then proceeds to tell him to take a show because he smells bad xP The two of them begin talking about a balloon Pokémon returning now that TP was gone but it doesn't matter to me now since I already have my encounter for the area.

​

• Speaking of encounters I grabbed my Route 205 encounter before heading back to Floaroma to heal, a female Pachirisu which I captured and named Amy, as well as returning to the tree I slathered honey on in the Floaroma Meadows. Was stoked when I saw the Combee sprite appear but heartbroken when I noticed the male symbol ;_; no Vespiquen for me....Captured him regardless and named him Lario.

​

Not a ton of progression here but haven't made it any farther in game and not sure how much I will be able to play this weekend with it being Mother's Day and all that. Also, I haven't been using Claudia as much so she is a bit under leveled at the moment. Once again I will edit in screenshots when I'm able ^^ Hope you all are enjoying this as much as I am....if not feel free to leave me some suggestions on how to improve!

Thanks! It has been pretty smooth sailing so far so I can't complain ^^ Hopefully I can keep going without anything catastrophic happening but it is a nuzlocke so something ALWAYS happens when you aren't expecting it lol I'll try my best to keep added screenshots to my posts as I go but since I'm playing on my phone it becomes pretty time consuming. I'm glad I added the team/box sprites as well. Makes it much easier to keep track of which Pokémon I have and lets anyone reading have a better visual as well

That being said I've decided NOT to use Claudia much for the simple fact that she evolves at lvl 15 and becomes a Normal/Water type which means I couldn't use her and Klaus on the same team...and Klaus is pretty epic at the moment. I'll keep her in the party for the time being but so won't be used often until I find a suitable replacement....or I need a sacrifice for the greater good of the team >.> don't judge me! You'd do the same thing if you were playing with this rule set xP

Thar Be Poison Types in Them Woods​

• Might as well stick with the horrendous chapter titles by this point right?
• With Amy the Pachirisu (which I just realized I never even added to my boxed Pokémon list -_- ) added to the PC I began making my way through the route grabbing any lose items and battling trainers along the way. I also made sure to grab the berries I planted earlier since I probably won't be back to this area for a while.
• Most trainers on the route were easily dealt with by Rina/Drevas/Klaus and didn't pose a serious threat.
• Battle Girl Kelsey and her Machop was the only real challenge. Her Machop crit Drevas 2 times in a row forcing me to use a Potion and switch Hadaron in.
• I healed up my party in the house at the top of the route (well top of the bottom half of the route at least >.>) before entering Eterna Forest. A Bug Catcher outside warned about all the Poison type Pokémon in the forest and wondered if he had enough Antidotes which I always find funny. Only 5 Poison type Pokémon can be found in Eterna Forest 2 of which are only found through dual slot mode (Weedle/Kakuna) and another 2 which learn no Poison moves via lvl up in 4th gen (Gastly/Budew).

​

• Once inside the forest I am greeted by a friendly woman named Cheryl who was looking for someone to travel through the forest. She offered to keep my Pokémon in perfect health while in her company so I can't complain.

​

• First encounter of the forest was a double battle with a male Wurmple and a female Buneary so I am able to choose (like I wouldn't pick Buneary lol). I was leading with Hadaron, since he needs to learn Wing Attack asap, and attacked the Wurmple with Bite while Cheryl's Chansey used Egg Bomb on Buneary. Buneary and Wurmple both attacked Chansey. Hit Wurmple with another Bite which caused it to flinch and Chansey used Egg Bomb against Buneary again but it missed. I didn't want Chansey to kill the Buneary so I used Bite against it xP I'm sure Cheryl was not please but she will just have to get over it. Chansey used Egg Bomb on Wurmple and killed it while Buneary finished off Chansey. I was then able to capture the weakened Buneary, which I named Claudia's replacement Layla, despite receiving glares from Cheryl for having Hadaron help knock out its teammate (I should have at least got some of that sweet sweet exp from helping KO Chansey ;_; ).

​

• With my Eterna Forest encounter taken care of it was now time to wade through the grass and trainers on my way to Eterna City.
• The first pairing was Bug Catcher Jack and Lass Briana who send out Wurple and Pachirisu respectively. Knew I had to get Hadaron out of there because this Pachi was lvl 16 and he didn't feel like taking a Spark to the face. Easy switch in to Edea who is not affected by the Spark (I KNEW IT!) as Chansey was hit by Poison Sting from Wurmple while hitting it in return with Egg Bomb. Pachi used Spark on Chansey , which crit and nearly killed it, and Edea used Magnitude 10 and killed everything on the field....including my teammates Pokémon once again xD Cheryl picked the wrong trainer to "safely" traverse the forest with. Jack then sent out Beautifly and I instinctively clicked Rock Throw. It then hit me..."I forgot that thing gets Absorb please don't please don't please don't!" [Beautifly used Absorb] "Nooooooooooooooooooooo" [Edea lives with 5 hp and kills Beautifly with Rock Throw] "OMG YES YOU BEAUTIFUL ROCK!". Jack then sends in Silcoon which is also KO'd by a Rock Throw.
• Up next was a pair of Psychics (Lindsey & Elijah) who foresaw my defeat....pfft as if. 2 lvl 17 Abra's hit the field against Hadaron and Chansey. Both Abra's used Hidden Power (Fighting) against Chansey while Hadaron OHKO'd an Abra with Bite while Chansey missed with Egg Bomb. The other Abra used Hidden Power (Fighting) on Hadaron which crit and did more dmg than I thought it would...but still nowhere near enough to worry about. Hadaron then finished off the other Abra with a Bite thus ruining the Psychic's prediction.
• A pair of Bug Catchers (Phillip & Donald) and another pair of Psychics (Kody & Rachael) were all that remained to clear the forest of trainers so I decided to let Klaus and Rina handle them so Hadaron and Edea wouldn't have all the glory. Spark and Water Pulse both hit very hard and I love it <3

Going to end the chapter here for now just because I plan on doing a bit of grinding while since I can fight 2 Pokémon at a time and still get all the exp while Cheryl keeps my party healed...I'll try not to kill her Chansey too many more times but no promises xP

Still not the best post but trying to keep this going at a decent pace. Will edit in correct lvls/moves/stats in an hour or so once I get home and actually have time to check my PC so I can make sure everything is completely accurate will edit in screenshots when I am able....still have to do the previous posts screenshots as well >.<

Just realized how few screenshots I took during this section and I am very sorry! I will add in a few of the lvl grinding screenshots to try and make up for other and so that I don't have to post them in the next chapter so it will hopefully be more interesting to read...

The Grass is Always Greener!​

• More garbage chapter titles...
• With my party fully healed and Layla added to my party in place of Claudia. I ran to the Cycling Road gate where I talked to Dawn's Father. He gave me an Exp Share which I don't really have any use for at the moment so I'll bag it for now.
• I went ahead and grabbed my Explorer Kit and headed underground. Met Roark when I...landed? I guess that's what you would call it anyway >.> Dug around for a bit until I found an Armor Fossil before coming back up (Also found a couple of shards and a Zap Plate which I gave to Rina).

​

• I began switch training Layla against all the fishers/wild Pokémon on the northern section of Route 205 until Layla reached a decent lvl.
• Healed up and headed towards Route 211 when I was ever so rudely bumped into by Barry. He goes to show me the town's Pokémon statue and we watch Cyrus talk to himself before pushing past us. Barry then runs off and I continue on my way. I also got Cut from Cynthia at some point but don't remember when exactly >.>

• First encounter on Route 211 was a male Machop...was hoping for Meditite but still got a Fighting type so he will do. Captured and named him Galant.

​

• I then proceeded to battle the few trainers found on the route....when tragedy VERY nearly happened. Bird Keeper Alexandra's Starly crit Layla with Wing Attack leaving her alive with 1 HP!

​

• Hurriedly ran back to Eterna to heal up before returning to Route 211 to power level Hadaron to lvl 22 (learned Confuse Ray over Supersonic along the way) so he would Evolve while not exceeding my level limit rule since Gardenia's Roserade is lvl 22

​

• Leveled up the rest of my team a big just so Hadaron wasn't super far ahead before heading to the gym to take on Gardenia.
• Tried to use Layla but she was nearly taken out by Gardenia's Turtwig...she survived with 1 HP again! brought Hadaron in for the rest of the gym battle since he walled and 2HKO all of her Pokémon. Pocketed TM 86 Grass Knot so potential later use even though it isn't the best.

​

• Took the time to loot search for items in the buildings and grabbed TM 67 Recycle which is pretty meh in general so I might sell it later.
• Instead of heading to the Galactic Building at the north end of town I decided to head to the Old Chateau to pick up the items and grab an encounter there (gave the Dread Plate to Hadaron). Ran into Gardenia just outside who was too scared to go in because of the ghosts.

​

• TM 90 Substitute, Rare Candy, and Big Pearl were good pickups and I'll hang on to them for later.
• Decided to go for Rotom (mainly due to its unique typing so when team changes are required later in the game I will have an easier time fitting multiple types into my party) since it was night as I was playing so I popped a few repels to keep the Ghastly's away. Made it to the TV and thumped it causing Rotom to pop out. Captured after 15 or so Pokeballs and named it Zephyr.

​

• I then left Eterna Forest and went to the small area just south. Grabbed a few berries, a SilverPowder (which I have no use for atm but will hold on to just in case), and TM 82 Sleep Talk. Another meh TM that I might sell later.
• Healed up before heading to the Galactic Building. Chatted with Looker for a moment before fighting my way up both sets of stairs since free items are always worth an extra battle or two.

​

• Battled Jupiter and its a freaking miracle I didn't lose anyone...Night Slash from her Skuntank hurts sooooooo much. Was barely able to beat it with Drevas after weakening it with Edea. It literally just spammed Night Slash.

​

• Galactic then leaves the building and the Cycle Shop owner (Rad Rickshaw) thanked me for saving him and his Clefairy then tells me to come by his shop later.
• Make my way out of the building, heal up my party, and deposit Haradon since he was the last Pokémon in the party. I then head towards the Cycle Shop where I am stopped by Cynthia who give me an Egg. I grab my free bike from Rad then proceed to ride back and forth in Eterna City until it hatched into a Female Togepi which I named Estelle. Deposited her and put Hadaron back in the party.

Had a super busy weekend and will probably have another super busy weekend coming up so I have been and will be slow getting updates up during those times. Will try my best to have a decent amount posted through to week to keep myself interested in this and anyone else that actually reads/checks on this >.> Made a good amount of progress in this chapter if nothing else I also want to note that I messed up on the name of my hatched Togepi >.< she was actually named Aurelia. Estelle is the name of another mon I captured shortly after hatching to Togepi so I got my names crossed...I updated the previous post to show her correct name.

So Many Ground Types, This is Becoming a Vicious Cycle​

• Sad attempt at a Cycle Road pun but couldn't think of anything else xP
• Battled my way down Cycle Road causing Edea learned Rock Blast over Rock Polish and evolved into a Graveler while Hadaron learned Air Cutter over Leech Life and reached his final form by evolving into Crobat!

​

• I then proceeded to traverse the path below Cycle Road (Route 206). Grab the items scattered across the ground as well as the berries from both patches available. Also battled the only trainer there, Hiker Theodore. His pair of Onix were no match for my mighty Klaus.
• Was REALLY hoping for a Ponyta as my encounter of the route but instead I ran into another Ground type...a Female Gligar, which I forgot even appear on Route 206, that I captured and named Estelle.

​

• Decided to head into the secret entrance of Wayward Cave before going into the main area since it has the same chance of encountering a Bronzor, while also having a chance to find Gible, and I can can pick up Earthquake while I'm there. Taught Rina Flash over Charge just so I didn't headbutt every wall and rock in the cave trying to traverse it.
• Well low and behold my first encounter is a male Gible which I named Quaid and barely captured because he kept using Dragon Rage forcing me to use 2 Super Potions and switch in other Pokémon a few times :/ Now don't get me wrong Gible is a fantastic Pokémon BUT I have so many freaking Ground types already I NEED some other types ;_; Was really hoping for a Bronzor but it is what it is...

​

• Cleared the secret entrance area of Wayward Cave and grabbed TM 26 Earthquake (So so so good <3 saving it for a bit before I choose who to use it on) before heading to the main area to battle the trainers there, grabbed TM 32 Double Team (may or may not sell..idk yet), and helped escort Mira to the entrance. Drevas was almost taken out by a crit Flame Wheel from a Ponyta but he survived, because he is so well trained, and learned Bite over Absorb

​

• Since Mira was kind enough to heal up my party I went on to Route 207 the battle the trainers there. Fortunately Layla was just strong enough to survive a crit Spark + Flame Wheel from Picnicker Lauren's Pachirisu and Camper Anthony's Chimchar....she survived on 1 HP again my heart can't handle this..

​

• Immediately went to heal in Oreburgh after Layla barely survived death again (this bunny must be part cat with all 9 lives) and got my Armor Fossil revived into a male Shieldon which I named Douglas. Not the best Pokémon but at least it isn't a Ground type xP

​

• Bought some items on the Mart before heading back to Route 207 and finished off the remaining trainers. Ran into Dawn just before heading into Mt. Coronet who gave me a Dowsing Machine and a VS Seeker both of which will be super helpful.

​

• Used repels so I wouldn't encounter anything in Mt. Coronet yet (have the potential to catch a Dratini later with a Super Rod...or even a Feebas I suppose). Ran into Cyrus again and listened to him drone on before making my way through to the next route.

​

• Battled against the trainers along Route 208 without much issue and Layla learned Jump Kick! I also went ahead and used my Return TM on her to replace Frustration since its power had dropped a lot already. The first patch of grass I entered was a Male Ralts <3 I hit him with Jump Kick from Layla, since it was weaker than her STAB Quick Attack, which brought him to red health. HE DIDN'T TELEPORT AWAY AND I CAUGHT HIM WITH 1 Pokéball Named him Krantz and am pumped about the potential for a Gallade (Such a good Nuzlocke Pokémon).

​

• Picked up some berries from nearby and got a free berry from the Berry Master. Also picked up the Odd Keystone even tho there is no way for me to get a Spiritomb since I'm using a mobile emulator ;_;

​

• Headed in to Hearthome City to heal up and check out my Ralts (Which ended up being Jolly <3). Made the trip up to the contest hall just to get it over with, picked up the Poffin Case, Shell Bell (gave to Klaus), and grabbed all the items in Amitty Square with Layla.

​

• Met Bebe in her house and grabbed my Male Freevee (Free Eevee duh) which I named Nevsky. Headed into the Gym and began clearing out the trainers...I was in hopes that Layla would evolve before having to face the leader BUT she reached her lvl 26 level cap before she was able. She also was nearly taken out by a gym trainers Drifloon's crit 2nd stage Spit Up surviving on 1 HP AGAIN.

​

• Healed up at the Pokémon Center and leveled up the rest of my team just in case before heading back in to face Fantina. Led with Rina who was able to take out her Duskull with 2 Bites as it missed her with Will-O-Wisp! Great start! She brought in her Haunter and landed Confuse Ray while Rina broke through confusion and was able to land a crit Bite taking the Haunter down. Now for the real problem...Mismagius...the murderer of Nuzlockes because its Shadow Ball. Had a hard time deciding what to do since I knew if I switched anything in it would take massive damage. Ultimately brought in Layla on a Shadow Ball just because I was worried about Rina and confusion. I then brought Rina back in on a Confuse Ray so I was back in the same situation I started -_- decided to just stay in and TRY something. Used Bite through confusion which crit again bringing Mismagius into the red causing her Sitrus Berry to activate. Rina took a ton of dmg from Shadow Ball in return so I had to bring her out. Pulled in Drevas just to see if he could handle the dmg...hell no. One hit brought him down below half -_- Couldn't bring in Edea because her special def is garbage plus Mismagius packs Magical Leaf and couldn't bring in Hadaron because of Psybeam so I was forced to bring in Layla again on a Shadow Ball. She was hit by Confuse Ray but broke through and was able to use Foresight. Psybeam from Mismagius did a lot but not hardly half so I went for Return and got hurt in confusion while Layla took another Psybeam which left her with 6 HP. Used 2 Super Potions getting Layla up just enough to be able to attack and live a 2nd Psybeam...she attacked with Return and Mismagius' health went from orange to red to....gone! CRIT!!! MY BUNNY IS THE BEST

• Earned my Relic Badge from Fantina without losing a single Pokémon and grabbed TM 65 Shadow Claw (Which is pretty decent and I'll hang on to for later).

​

• Healed up my team, swapped out Edea (would have to replace her soon anyway) with Krantz who I equipped with EXP Share, and stocked up on some more potions before heading through the eastern gate. Battled and beat Barry without any problems on my way to Route 209.

​

• Grabbed the Good Rod from the fisher guy and proceeded to get my Route 209 Encounter! A female Magikarp which I captured and named Belfura. First grass Pokémon I ran into was Chansey >.> really game? 5% chance my butt lol got some good exp from it if nothing else.

​

• Battled my way up the rest of the route without much resistance. Went ahead and put the Odd Keystone back in the Hallowed Tower even though it is of no use.
• Grabbed TM 47 Steel Wing (which I might teach to Hadaron? Haven't made my mind up yet) along with my first Leppa berry which I went ahead and planted, since it is super helpful, and some other items.
• Team wasn't very injured so went ahead and jumped into the Lost Tower.

That's as far as I'll go with this update since I still have a lot of screenshots to upload >.< I'll try my best to get them all tonight but I make no promises. I am so happy I've still not lost a Pokémon, and honestly very surprised...fingers crossed things keep going my way

Sorry for such a delay in updating this but life got in the way... Been super busy so I'll try to update when I am actually able to play and progress in the game >.> I apologize in advance because this update will be rather hastily thrown together and I will have to update my current party, boxed Pokémon, horrible chapter title, and with screenshots when I have the time to actually sit down as I'm posting this from my phone.

• Picking up where I left off last time I entered the Lost Tower, encountered a female Gastly (captured and named her Phoena), and battled my way to the top before remembering that I had to use Defog, which I did not have yet, in order to get the items from the 2 old women up top...... *Facepalm*
• Made my way into Solaceon Town where I ran into Barry talking about the ruins nearby and how he found the HM for Defog while searching so I made my way there.
• First encounter was an Unown D which I captured and named Dion. Grabbed the items on the ground as well as the Defog HM and Krantz evolved into Kirla by battling the few trainers in the ruins.
• Headed back to Lost Tower, climbed up to the top again, used Dedog, and got the Cleanse Tag/Spell Tag from the old women... Pretty disappointing to be honest but might be of some use later.
• Healed up then started my way up Route 210. Battled a fee trainers and grabbed some items before encountering a male Noctowl. Took a few Pokeballs but I caught and named him Melchio. I then spent all the money I had on Moo Moo Milk since it is one of the most cost effective healing items. Finished off the trainers inside, Rina evolved into Luxury!, before heading down Route 215.
• Battled a couple of trainers along the route before my first encounter which was an male Abra... Great so much for this encounter right? WRONG! I threw a Great Ball at this little teleporter and it stayed in! Named him Merlin and went about my merry way.
• Entered Veilstone and healed up before making my way to the Gym. Battled and beat Maylene without too much hassle thanks to Hadaron being an epic wall to her team since it could OHKO Meditite.
• Helped Dawn get her Pokédex back and healed up before heading down Route 214.
• First encounter was a male Houndour that I captured and named Arus <3 FINALLY a fire type.
• Went back to Veilstone and did some party adjustments before battling the remaining trainers on route 214. Party now has Belfura the Magikarp, Arus the Houndour, Drevas the Grotle, Quaid the Bible, Layla the Buneary, and Rina the Luxray.
• Made it through Route 214 where Belfura evolved in Gyarados and Arus evolved into Houndoom!
• Headed south to the Valor Lakefront. Took a while for my encounter here since I kept running into Bibarel but eventually found a Girafarig which I captured after several Pokeballs and named Deemo. Did a lot of training to get my party levels up before calling it a night.

We will stop there for now... Not the best update I know but had to keep this going! Will update with images ASAP.

 

It is called NDS Boy! I'm not sure if it is available for IOS but I know it is in the Play Store. Just grabbed the Platinum ROM from Emuparadise and it runs just fine. It does occasionally crash for me but I set the autosave to every 5 minutes and I manually save as well very often just so I don't lose much progress. I also disabled the audio which seems to help it run smoother and not lag as much. I take my screenshots with my phone vertical but I actually play the game with my phone sideways just because I think the buttons are easier to use and less likely to hit the touch screen. If you are looking for Gameboy Advanced games I run some of them on my phone as well using the app My Boy!

 

Well....I am beyond terrible at keeping this updated and I haven't been taking screenshots the last little bit I've been playing but if you all would like to continue to see them let me know (if anyone is still interested in even reading this at least >.> ) and I will do my best to take some for the next update. A solid chunk of progress has been made since last time so at least there is that...idk what to even attempt to title this chapter so we will skip that for the time being.

• Party now consists of Quaid the Gabite, Layla the Lopunny, Arus the Houndoom, Belfura the Gyarados, Rina the Luxray, and Krantz the Gallade.
• After training up my party a bit to even out levels and after teaching Krantz Leaf Blade and Night Slash at the Move Relearner I beat the crap out of Barry and challenged Crasher Wake.
• Had a more difficult time than I thought and almost lost both Rina and Belfura due to crits from Wake's Floatzel and my limited healing items -_-
• Survived the encounter and earned my 4th badge without any deaths so its all good!
• Galactic Grunt sets off a bomb in the Great Marsh so I chase after him until I can't get into the lake...Cynthia arrives and gives me the medicine to get by the Psyduck blockade on Route 210 so I might as well head that way and let the guy who just blew up a Pokémon habitat get away for the time being right?
• Decided to loop around the long way and headed for route 212 and into Hearthome before buying a rather substantial amount of Moomoo Milk near the Psyduck's
• Fought through the fog (forgot to bring my Defogger and didn't feel like going back for him) and eventually made it to Celestic Town where another Galactic Grunt was ready to drop a bomb...what is with these guys? :/
• Beat the crap out of him, checked out the ruins, Cyrus showed up and listened to him ramble, and got the Surf HM which I taught to Belfura since she has no STAB moves.
• Went to Canalave City where I beat the crap out of Barry again tho his Heracross was a pain to deal with and almost OHKO'd Krantz with an Aerial Ace
• Was able to survive the encounter and made my way to Iron Island to train with Riley and get the Strength HM, which I taught to Rina, since its free healing and decent exp had to be cautious with the exploding Gravelers tho so Belfura soaked up most of the exp for herself with Surf.
• Beat the Galactic Grunts off the island and Riley tried to give me an egg but not even gonna worry about it since I already caught my Steelix.
• Headed back to Canalave and am about to challenge Byron for my 5th badge!

Triumph and Tragedy ​

Made quite a bit of progress again which I'm proud of! Had my first heartbreak as well unfortunately but it had honestly been a miracle I've went this long without an incident...

• After returning to Canalave and healing my party I headed straight to the gym to begin working on the trainers inside. Belfura swept the Steelix aside while Arus dealt with all the Magnemite/Magneton.
• One trainer even had a Scizor which I assumed would be easy prey for Arus and his Fire Fang.... Until the Scizor survived the hit and brought Arus down to 6hp with a X-Scissor attack. I was worried about both Pursuit, if I switched out, and Bullet Punch, if I stayed in, but ultimately went for a safe switch out into Belfura and finished off the Scizor.
• Mopped up the remaining gym trainers and used a few MMM (from here on will be my reference to Moomoo Milk) to heal up my squad before approaching Byron.
• Overall he was very easy to defeat.... Arus for Magneton and Belfura for Steelix/Bastiodon. Easy win, easy badge, no real challenge unfortunately...
• Barry ushered me towards the Canalave Library to meet up with Rowen and Dawn just before the Galactic Bomb at Lake Valor is set off.
• Made my way to the lake and battled my way through the grunts and Saturn before heading to Lake Verity to help Dawn against Mars.
• With 2 lakes visited only Lake Acuity remained along the way to Snowpoint City. Healed up my team before heading to the section of Mt. Coronet near Celestic Town, after stocking up on some more MMM since I had over 300k money to spend >.>, now that I am able to traverse it with my badge from Byron.
• Several repels later I emerge from the cavern and begin my march through the snow of Route 216.
• Encounter for the area would have been a Meditite but she was unfortunately crit meaning I can't get another encounter in this area.
• Sadly I lost Layla shortly after losing my encounter for the area... She missed a Jump Kick while attacking a Porygon2 who then crit her with a Signal Beam causing her to die. My poor little bunny's luck finally ran out ;_;
• Traveled the rest of the route with my 5 remaining Pokémon without too many issues. Grabbed several items stuck in the snow including the HM for Rock Climb which I need to reach Lake Acuity but I can't use without the badge from Snowpoint.
• Managed to catch a Male Snover at the Acuity Lakefront which I named Raydn. Luckily he fits perfectly into my team due to his unique typing. Placed Layla in the dead box and added Raydn to the lineup. Trained him for a bit until lvl 41 where he learned Blizzard and evolved into Abomasnow.
• Healed up then battled my way through the trainers of Snowpoint Gym before challenging Candice to an icy duel.
• Arus was a great help here and managed to solo both her Froslass and Abomasnow while Krantz was able to take out her Weavile with a single Drain Punch earning me my 7th badge!
• Healed up and quickly headed for the lake where Barry had just got beaten by Jupiter... Only thing left to do now is to head for the Galactic HQ in Veilstone and save the Pokémon of the lakes myself!
  
  All for this update but I'll try to upload some screenshots soon since I did try my best to take a couple ^^ would love to hear some thoughts or feedback if anyone is still interested in this?

Layla the Lopunny lvl 37. Killed on Route 216 by a crit Signal Beam from a Porygon2 after missing with Jump Kick.

 

I'm really bad at updating this but I think with the baby excitement I can get a pass? XP

Still progressing but it has been so long since I actually played I've forgotten a lot of the details of everything and I apologize for that..I'll try to to give what details I can but it has been weeks so don't be too upset!

• Fought my way through the Galactic HQ without a ton of challenge and was able to free the Pokémon of the lakes.
• Chased team Galactic up Mt Coronet and watched as both Dialga and Palkia were summoned. A shadowy figure appeared and dragged Cyrus away. Cynthia arrived and we gave chase through the portal.
• Ended up fighting Cyrus (his Houndoom was a pain...) before encountering the shadow Pokémon Giratina.
• Giratina nearly crit killed both Rina and Belfura but was eventually defeated without any losses.
• Now with the world saved and everything calm I made my way towards Sunnyshore for my final badge.
• Captured a Modest male Electabuzz on Route 222 which I named Eze.
• Elite Four member Flint encouraged me to battle the 8th gym leader and give him a real challenge.
• Grabbed my Sunnyshore encounter which was a Sassy female Tentacool that I named Medina.
• Trained up a bit before challenging the gym itself but didn't have a lot of issues thanks to Quaid.
• Claimed my 8th badge and the HM for Waterfall from Jasmine which I taught to Belfura over Aqua Tail.
• Fought my way through Victory Road and captured an Adamant female Rhydon that I named Ophelia.
• Healed up at the Pokémon League before heading back to Victory road to begin power leveling so my whole part is capped at 59 per my ruleset.

Not very detailed and missed a lot of excitement but its the best I could do with how things have been the last little bit.... Will do better with the E4 battles I promise!

As promised I'm ready to give more details to make up for my pitiful lack of details in my previous post... How much more detail you ask? How about a turn by turn battle log for the Elite Four and Champion?

To begin things off I challenged Barry just outside the Elite Four area. Managed to do a full team sweep by setting up with Belfura which was kinda fun and kinda boring at the same time. I'm going to try and refrain from setting up Dragon Dances unless I'm on the verge of losing and it is my only option. I also did a lot of training to get my party to my lvl 59 max and adjusted some movesets to get rid of some HMs and to add more coverage.

Aaron the Bug Brawler

• Aaron began with his Yanmega while I lead with Arus who outsped and OHKO'd Yanmega with Flamethrower.

• Next came his Heracross, Vespiquen, and Scisor who were all OHKO'd by Flamethrower as well.
• Last up was his Drapion. I switched in Belfura on a Cross Poison to both take a hit and lower Drapion's attack.
• Drapion outsped and landed a crit Cross Poison while Belfura countered with a Waterfall bringing both to around 1/2 HP.
• Another Cross Poison and Waterfall are exchanged with Drapion barely surviving and Belfura remaining at 1/4 HP. Sitrus Berry brought Drapion back to a level playing field.
• Dropped a Hyper Potion to ensure Belfura's survival while she took back to back crit Cross Poisons, living with 34 HP, before finishing off Drapion with another Waterfall.

Bertha the Earthshaker

• Bertha leads with her Whiscash while I counter with Raydn. One Wood Hammer and Whiscash is dropped.
• Up next Gliscor enters the fray and I know it has Fire Fang so Raydn has to come out... The problem is it also has Thunder and Ice Fang limiting my switch in options.
• Ultimately decided to bring in Belfura on the Fire Fang thinking that after Intimidate she should be able to live a Thunder Fang. Unfortunately I forgot about Hyper Cutter negating the atk drop.
• Decided to stay in and risk it using Waterfall to drop Gliscor low enough that hail dmg finished it off.... But not before its Thunder Fang left Belfura at 59 HP and Paralyzed.
• Up next was Golem and with Belfura weakened I had to swap out into Quaid who was immune to the oversized boulders Thunderpunch. I then went ahead and used a Full Restore on Belfura while Quaid soaked up an Earthquake before returning the favor with an Earthquake of his own finishing off the Golem.
• Rhyperior is next and Belfura steps up to the plate again now fully healed to get the atk drop and soak up the Avalanche that was meant for Quaid. The rhino is taken out by a single Waterfall.
• Last up on Bertha's squad is Hippowdon who goes for Stone Edge as Quaid comes back in to take the hit bringing him to around 1/2 HP.
• Quaid then shows how epic he is by landing an Earthquake while dodging Hippowdon's thanks to the very sand it brought to the field. Another Earthquake and down goes Bertha!

2 E4 down and 2 to go! Will hopefully post the other two and champion in the next update!

 

Flint the Fire Fighter

• Decided to give Krantz some action as his opponent Houndoom hit the field. One Close Combat was all it took to fell the hellhound.
• Rapidash was up next and I decided to switch out because of the defense drops from CC. Belfura came in as Rapidash set up Sunny Day. He outsped and landed 2 Solarbeams on Belfura, leaving her around 60%, before dropping to 2 Waterfalls.
• Flint's Infernape hit the field next and went for Thunderpuch as Quaid jumped in to take the hit. Quaid then outsped and demolished the monkey with an Earthquake as the sunlight faded.
• Flint's remaining 2 Pokémon, Flareon and Magmortar, met the same fate finishing off the 3rd member of the E4.

Lucian the Mystic

• Now it's my hellhound's time to shine! Arus hits the field against Lucian's Mr. Mime who sets up a Reflect before getting hit with a Crunch and survived with a sliver of health....Lucian then wastes a Full Restore while Arus OHKO's Mr. Mine with Dark Pulse.
• Not holding any punches Lucian sends out his ace Pokémon Gallade who misses a Stone Edge as I bring in a Gallde of my own.
• I miss clicked and used Leaf Blade instead of Psycho Cut....LB crit and left the enemy Gallade alive with a sliver of HP before its Sitrus Berry kicked in. He then used Psycho Cut on Krantz which crit and brought him down to red. Krantz finished with a Psycho Cut of his own to drop Lucian's ace as Reflct finally fades.
• Espeon hit the field next and with Krantz gasping for air I brought Arus back in on a Shadow Ball which he took like a champ. Espeon then hits him with a weak Signal Beam before going down to a Crunch.
• Bronzing enters the field but then quickly leaves as Arus roasts him with a single Flamethrower.
• Alakazam is the last of the E4 Pokémon standing in my way and Belfura easily soaks up the Focus Blast that was intended for Arus. She then takes a huge chunk of dmg from a Psychic while landing a Waterfall which leaves Lucian's last alive with a sliver of HP. I use a Hyper Potion as he uses a Full Restore. The next Waterfall leaves even less health than before while Belfura can live another Psychic as long as it doesn't crit.....and she does so with 32 HP left while taking out the Alakazam with another Waterfall!

Cynthia the Champion

• Time for the moment of truth! Spiritomb is her first choice as I counter with Arus. Dark Pulse brings the ghost down to around 60% while it crits Arus with a Silver Wind bringing him down to around 75%. Followed up with a Crunch to see if it could seal the deal...it didn't and the Spiritomb was left with less than 5% as it lands another crit Silver Wind bringing Arus down to 50%. Cynthia used a Full Restore as I go for Crunch hoping for at least a def drop to make it a 2HKO but no luck. Used Dark Pulse and got a flinch leaving Spiritomb with a sliver of health. Finish it off with a Flamethrower to be on the safe side...1 down 5 to go!
• Milotic....this Pokémon is such a pain. Arus definitely can't stay in so I decide on bringing in Rina since she hasn't saw any action the entire Pokémon League. Unfortunately Milotic packs a mean wallop so Rina was left with around 60% after a Surf. I went for Spark, which brought Milotic down to orange, instead of healing and it worked out perfectly since Cynthia misplayed and went for Mirror Coat. 1 more Spark and that threat is down. 4 to go!
• Garchomp...oh boy. Belfura hops into the ring expecting an Earthquake but takes a Dragon Rush instead taking her down to around 70% thanks to the atk drop. I bring Rina in for a second atk drop as Garchomp misses Dragon Rush. Belfura comes back in on an Earthquake and severely neutering Cynthia's ace with a 3rd atk drop. Dragon Rush misses again while Belfura connects with Ice Fang bringing Garchomp to orange before Sitrus Berry kicks in bringing it back up to green. Another Dragon Rush miss (Should have kept Dragon Claw like me xP) followed by an Ice Fang miss -_- I go for another Ice Fang but she withdraws her Garchomp and brings in Lucario!
• I bring Krantz in on a Stone Edge and pray that a Shadow Ball can't kill him...but I don't even have to worry about it because Krantz outsped and knocked out the Lucario with a Close Combat. 3 down 2 and a slightly injured Garchomp to go.
• Togekiss enters the fray next and I bring Rina in on an Air Slash that did more than I expected it to leaving her with 77 HP. Rina outsped and landed a Discharge to bring Togekiss to around 40% while taking an Aura Sphere leaving her with 17 HP! 1 more Discharge and down goes Togekiss.
• Garchomp returns so I switch in Belfura for the atk drop as she takes a Dragon Rush which leaves her with 65 HP. I use a Hyper Potion as another Dragon Rush lands. I go for Ice Fang as the 3rd Dragon Rush misses finishing off Cynthia's Garchomp and leaving Belfura with 132 HP. 1 to go!
• Last up is Roserade who uses Toxic as I accidentally stayed in with Belfura and attacked with Return...it brought Roserade down to 25% but not what I was wanting to do. Brought Quaid in to put this battle to bed as he soaks up a Sludge Bomb rather easily before finishing off Cynthia's last with an Earthquake. GG.

Cynthia and Rowan record my squad into the hall of fame and so my journey ends...or does it? Gonna throw a few ideas out and see which one anybody that still reads this would be more interested in.

1. Screw this playthrough you killed it! Only 1 Pokémon lost and you ran over the E4/Champ without any problems...just start a new nuzlocke but make it more difficult! More death! More pain! More suffering! MORE FAILURE!
2. Keep this nuzlocke going and see how well you can do through the Battle Frontier/Pokémon League a second time. Just be sure to set a lvl limit at least 5 lvls lower than the champs Pokémon!
3. Same as option 2 but instead of a lower lvl limit use a reduced party size OR change my party up entirely.
