What about “Gethsemane”? Here are the lyrics: http://www.lyricsdepot.com/jesus-christ-superstar/i-only-want-to-say-gethsemane.html
Maybe, but I feel a bit uneasy about the comparison. And it’s not so much a fall from grace as it is a momentary hesitation out of fear. Finally, a large portion of what is said there is copy pasted from the Bible.
Oh. Okay, then. Now I wish there was a Coldplay-based jukebox musical so I could pick Viva La Vida again...
By the way, this was supposed to be Pikachu’s B-way theme if not for four words. Bet you can guess what they are. https://www.google.com/amp/s/genius.com/amp/Jennifer-hudson-and-i-am-telling-you-im-not-going-lyrics
The words in question: “You’re gonna love me.” And with that, Ash and Pikachu’s entire friendship becomes forced. And it is FAR from forced.
Yes, we could. And yes, it’s a shame, because bar those four words, IT’S PERFECT otherwise. Did you know what the four words were before I told you?
I actually thought you meant ‘Push strike and kill’. Because there’s no way either would even consider that. But that is also true.
OK. Anyway, the song has been changed to “Friendship,” meaning that out of the Kanto gang, I’m still missing Bulbasaur and Pidgeot. For the rest of them: Squirtle: “Naughty” from Matilda Butterfree: “Think of Me” from The Phantom Of The Opera Charizard: “This Is The Moment” from Jekyll and Hyde
Although I just went back and read the lyrics to Gethsemane, and realized this could very well be interpreted another way: This song is Torterra’s despair at losing his speed upon evolving, just like Viva La Vida was. However, while Viva La Vida is a bittersweet reflection on how he used to be, this is him literally asking Arceus “why have you cursed me upon evolution?” and asking Arceus to KILL HIM. In other words, this is what Torterra was likely feeling as a Grotle when he first evolved. And this is him, in Professor Oak’s lab, after having lost battle after battle as a Torterra, asking this to Arceus once again after all those feelings come back to him. “WHYYYYYYYYYYYY should I die?!” (In other words: “Why have you forsaken me, Arceus?!”) *PS: So you know, I wasn’t trying to compare Torterra to Jesus.*
I like it. Sorry I haven't really been as active in this thread, Summer Scramble is taking a lot of time. It's fun, but a lot of effort is needed. I am having trouble thinking of anything else at the moment. Sorry.
