Smash Bros Ultimate Discussion [SPOILERS, duh]

I'm definitely looking forward to playing as an inkling. I wonder if there are lots of more unlockable characters that they have yet to reveal... Would make sense for there to be more... even if there are already loads of confirmed characters.

 

I love that every character from the history of Smash is going to be there. Daisy is actually a playable character which I’m excited that she’s not Peach with Daisy’s dress this time.
What are your thoughts on it?

I'm withholding judgment on inkling for now; seems like the ink recharging is a pretty big weakness but we'll see.

So, Castlevania, huh? While I don’t know much about the series, Simon and Echo fighter Richter look like solid additions to the roster. And that whip chain is going to make grabs incredibly easy. Also have long asked for Echo Fighters in Dark Samus and Chrom, but I still can’t tell if Chrom is a clone of Roy or Ike. Maybe a mix of the two?

Anyway, the amount of music is amazing! Roughly 900 tracks! That’s incredible! And much better organized too. You can even listen to them on the go when the screen is off! I can have Jump Up Super Star, Pollyanna, and Song of Storms all on the same playlist, and not have to buy them on ITunes! I still probably will though. Over 100 different stages including many old favorites from previous games! Every one has a mega version too.

The blurred green thing on the menu better be story mode. If it’s Smash Tour I’m not buying the game (okay that’s an exaggeration, but I’ll be upset). And now, a list of characters that have been confirmed as assist trophies and will not make the roster:

This does mean Shadow and/or Tails has a chance to get in, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Finally, the funniest character reveal in Smash Bros history. Dedede, you troll! I loved that prank! Anyway, King K. Rool is officially confirmed, and looks decent. He has a good counter, and I like the move set they chose for him so far.

Every member of this list pains me, some more then others. Except Zero. Don't tell Negative I said that though.

 

You could say his odds of getting in Smash... Were less than zero.

 

I didn't know about the leaks that happened a while back with Castlevania, so Simon/Richter Belmont showing up was a legitimate, nice surprise. I feel like they'll be good characters but we will of course have to see.

Chrom finally got his chance. He is Roy's echo fighter judging from the smash website, but he does share some similarities with Ike as well, it seems. Maybe he'll be the heavier version of Roy.

Dark Samus is a very cool addition. She didn't show up as a known assist trophy so I kind of had a feeling. Speaking of which, Shadow is still nowhere to be seen, so he may very well be a fighter. Only time will tell, though.

Can we just talk about the final smash meter tho? They're basically making it like a super in Street fighter. It'd be hype to see getting busted out in tournaments. Some like Marth's still look unaffected despite being "weakened" though.

YOU CAN HAVE STOCKS WITH STAMINA MATCHES. YES. Honestly something I've personally been wanting for a while.

And a mode where you could play multiple characters in one match? Lit.

King K. Rool's reveal trailer might just be the best reveal trailer I've seen yet. I dunno if he'll be a good fighter, but the gun might be pretty good, since it seems to act both as a ranged attack, and can suck up your opponents too.

Honestly this was a fantastic direct. I'm already sold on getting this game, but if that blurred out screen turns out to be a story mode.... easiest pre-order of my life.

If it does have a story mode, though, this might just mean like Sakurai's pulling out all the stops to make this the last smash game. Honestly I don't know what else he could possibly add to make this game better. More characters would be nice (Bandana Dee especially) but I'm honestly satisfied with this game as is and could see myself playing this for a long time.

Luigi dies!!
Luigi has a new Poltergust 6000
It was hinting a new Luigi’s Mansion 3 game.
It was hinted three times with the song, the stage and the beginning.

 

Also, anybody notice the amount of boss characters we're getting? (Rathalos, Dracula, e.t.c). I think even if we don't get a story mode (even though I get a feeling we will) at the very least I think the boss rush mode from Brawl is coming back, I hope it will.

 

I do think the pokefloats stage will be announced later, or be a dlc, since it was always a fan favorite. I never played melee, but I would really like to try out the stage

 

I hope Ridley and King K. Rool will be good. Not that super heavy weights are bad but we really need to have some super Heavies on higher tiers.

Zard, Bowser, and DK are all good picks for heavies but I’m really hoping that Ridley and Rool will be used in serious play.

Though, I always got Mario to fall back on if I need a high tier. I also got Doc for the funnzies!

 

I'm going to try out all the new characters just because I don't know if I'll end up being good with them or not, but specifically Ridley and K. Rool.

Ridley because I just love him to bits as a villain and because he looks pretty versatile.

King K. Rool because I'm already a Bowser main and he seems to be a more versatile Bowser but with a bit less overall mobility. He's also one of only two (three if Snake is one also) super heavyweights with a projectile, and two at that. He's also the only super heavy with a counter. AND he seems to have a good recovery (despite the aforementioned less overall mobility than Bowser).

Oh yeah also Chrom because I'm also a Roy main. But I doubt I'll switch to him because I like Roy's design a lot more.

 

I will keep my main of Toon Link, and add on Inklings and Pokémon trainer. I really hope I can learn inklings moveset if I’m trying to main them.
