There are a variety of programs that the artists on LV use. I've seen Photoshop, FireAlpaca, SAI, CSP, etc. Which ones have you used and which do you prefer? Are there any you would like to try?

I've used Medibang and FireAlpaca. Mainly because they're free and my art doesn't require much more than what they offer. I personally prefer FireAlpaca.

I've been using Krita for a while now. It took a little while to get used to, but I prefer it over GIMP, which is what I used before.

I started digital art on MS Paint, however I don't use it anymore.
When I want to do pixel or animation, I go with GIMP, and Sai for normal digital art now.

anyone who reads the art channel on discord knows i use clip studio paint! its an extremely good program that i HIGHLY recommend to anyone who wants an amazing program and is willing to have a lighter wallet, haha...... about twice a year it goes on sale for only $25 and let me tell you right now: if youre serious about art, that will be a worthwhile $25.

i used to use medibang before i bought csp and while its not as powerful as csp being free and all, its still a very good program in its own right and its my go to free program to recommend.

I tried to get into Krita, since I was told it was the most direct substitute to Paint.net (the hardest Windows program for me to abandon when I went full Linux). I just can't make anything work it in, at least not my purposes. I don't do any tablet-drawing, only layering and editing, and Krita seemed way too complicated in those regards.

Lately though, since I can't use Paint.net on Linux and don't understand Krita, I have been using Gimp more than ever. I started off hating it, but Gimp gets over nine thousand times better to use once you put it into single-window mode (thank you, Youtuber who showed me how to make custom Thanos disintegration edits and mentioned single-window mode). So that's where I am right now, at least until I eventually go back to Windows and Paint.net.

I’ve used Photoshop CS5 and Medibang Paint Pro. I personally prefer Medibang, as it works better with pen pressure and corrects wobbly lines. It’s also easier for me to use clipping mask on.

At the beginning I used Photoshop because it was already on my computer and I didn't know any about digital drawing back then? But at some point I discovered FireAlpaca and the stabilizer. I've been using it ever since!

A lot of people here might know I recommend Medibang Paint a lot! I can't say anything from a desktop artist's point of view because that's not my medium, but the mobile app of Medibang is by far the best art app I've ever used. It has nearly all the features of desktop Medibang which really helps me because most mobile apps just kinda suck??

Also no matter if it's on desktop or phone Medibang is free! It's not phenomenal compared to CSP or Adobe or some other high end program but for being free it's one of the best!

For my regular art I use Photoshop CS5 and I use Aseprite for pixel art.
Aseprite is a great lil cheap programme that really makes the sprite animating process a lot easier for me? I could use PS but I struggle a lot wrapping my head round the animating process for PS.

I'm using Paint Tool Sai and Gimp.
    Can't live without them.

Asesprite for pixel art, and while i'm definitely not doing anything right now, Blender has successfully replaced most of my instincts on 3Ds max, despite the fact that I still miss it a lot.

Its interface looks horrible on my windows theme =/

Still willing to try it. Do you have any good tutorials I could use?

Krita is definitely a disappointment to me. Everything in this software screams THIS WILL BE THE FUTURE for me, until I realized their brushes work nothing like SAI's. It incredibly frustrating.

People talk about wet brushes being similar but... so far i haven't found any decent tutorial on it.

Also the program lags a lot sometimes even though i'm doing nothing.

Didn't know they were on mobile as well. I still need to try it properly on desktop. How does it blend colors?

Asesprite is definitely the best thing you can buy for pixel art. Not only it is cheap, the devs are very supportive of any problems you might fall into.

    Totally recommend!

Been a while since I heard of this one.

How do the colors blend on this one?

They blend, I suggest that you try out the free trial to see how it blends, because I can't really explain it?

I got Microsoft Paint and Fire Alpaca, I prefer Fire Alpaca over MS Paint because I can make layers and I just think is easier for me to make decent looking things in it because I can make multiple layers. I haven't really tried much else aside from Sai which I don't really remember.

I use the Sketchbook Pro Android app, an outdated version however since the new one sucks.
When I used to draw via computer I used Photoshop Elements 10. Kinda miss PS actually.
