I really don't think I'm the only one that does this, because at least three of my sisters either do or have done the same thing. Does anybody else out there like to listen to music while they fall asleep, or do you prefer silence? If you do listen to music, what kind of music is it? I used to think that I usually couldn't fall asleep to music, but I guess it depends on the style. I can't sleep to quiet, soothing, classical or piano music. I also can't sleep when the music is too high energy and has lyrics that I understand. I can, however, fall asleep to the soundtrack of Rio. The mood of the songs is in between high energy and soothing, and though there are lyrics, most of them are in Portuguese, so I don't have the problem of going along with the lyrics in my head and making my brain more active when I'm trying to wind down.
Music is a godsend on stormy nights! Thunder's always jangled my nerves, so I usually try to pick relaxing music (ambient Celtic stuff, water themes, and low key RPG town themes work the best)

I love the Dire Dire Docks music. That's probably something that I'd be able to sleep to. Not too loud and energetic, and not too slow and classical. It's just so soothing.
I don't fall asleep to music. I've found that I have a far more intimate relationship with music than most people. I either get extremely into a song to the point where I can't do anything else but listen, or I ignore the song to the point where I might as well not be listening to it. These are the reasons I don't listen to music while I sleep and why I prefer silence. However, I do like to listen to these songs before I go to bed to calm me down and be ready for sleep.
If it's early enough in the morning (say 4am) I can fall back asleep listening to music, but I can't fall asleep to music when I'm first going to bed...I tend to wake up as soon as the song finishes, and I prefer silence anyway. I listen to classical music and video game soundtrack first thing in the morning. NieR OST is good for everything, and I cherry pick the quieter tracks from other albums for my morning playlist.
It never happens to me. It will never happen to me. As most of my songs are very energetic and only one is very claiming.
Minecraft music is supposedly really ambient, right? I tried to sleep to it once. Then Chirp came on (Chirp is a pretty loud song) and I gave up.
I've only ever came close to sleeping with music once. I was listening to the album Meddle by Pink Floyd and Echoes came on. I was sitting there listening and I sort of went into a calm, trance-like state I guess, which made me really drowsy at the same time. By about 17 minutes into the song I had almost dozed off and I had to shake myself awake.
I don't really fll asleep to music. Instead I can and will fall asleep to lets play commentary. It is weird, but other people talking is pretty soothing to me
Unless it's a soothing instrumental, I find music more of a distraction than an aid in falling asleep.
I like falling asleep to acapella music, or relatively calm music with piano, violin, and things like that. The best part is that when concentrating on music while starting to fall asleep, I can kind of linger in a state of hypnagogia for a while, which is really relaxing.
I used to listen to music when sleeping, mostly classical music. Right now, I sleep with total silence.
I can't fall asleep to music. It doesn't matter what it is: music grabs my attention, and when I'm paying attention to something, I can't sleep. The only exception to this is Lindsey Stirling. I listen to her on plane rides. I don't sleep sleep then, but she helps me doze. (I am honestly not sure why, you'd think dubstep would stimulate me.)
I've started experimenting with music playing while I go to sleep. I've found that I go to sleep about thirty minutes faster than normal while soothing/calm music is playing.
In my old age (lol) I have become fond of listening to simple nature sounds rather than music. When I was a teen, I had the genius idea to listen to an all night party mix on the radio with my headphones on fridays. Like all electronic music. That gave me funky dreams but I didnt stop for some reason.
I don't do this, but instead, I go to sleep to cartoon or game reviews. I avoid the ones where people scream but it gives me something nice to think about as I wind down.
