Personally, I'm a big fan of the zodiacs and their meanings. While I may not know them the best, I believe people can be defined by the many zodiacs that run through them. Personally, I am a Taurus, also known as the Bull. It may not describe me perfectly, but it is pretty close. I am pretty stubborn, but not like a bull.
I'm born in April, so I'm an Aries, and I can tell you, I am nothing like a stereotypical Aries, in fact, I'm actually quite the opposite. I'm calm, collected, unemotional, and apathetic. I could honestly care less about competition as long as I'm meeting my own expectations(which is often not the case).
Western sign: Virgo Chinese sign: Year of the Ox I don't really believe in them, but it is fun for a giggle.
I'm a Libra, and honestly, it's always been the most boring sign for me. It's not an animal. It doesn't have that interesting of an origin myth. Also, it just doesn't seem very accurate to my personality. Still, it's kind of fun to at least know this stuff.
I'm a taurus! Do think I believe in it since I can be quite stubborn, but they're more for fun than anything else. used to be suuuper into zodiac signs way back in junior high and would look up compatibilities all the time though haha
Quick note for those interested: sometimes the zodiac sign cutoff points can shift by up to a few days each year due to astronomy and physics and time-keeping being weird, though those above seem pretty close to what I remember the usual to be. I suppose that plants me as a Virgo, though I may be Leo if my year was weird, and I've been told your Moon Sign matters more (if either of them at all). I can't find consistent interpretations of what the signs mean, but I will say that those two being the final and second-to-final bosses of Final Fantasy Tactics is pretty darn cool. As is the entire artistic interpretation of these signs made in Final Fantasy XII. But I still like the Chinese zodiac better.
I was going to mention moon signs, but it looks like Zero beat me to it. There are both a sun and moon sign determined by which of the constellations the sun or moon passes through at a given time. The signs typically used for astrology are sun signs, but you actually have both a sun and a moon sign. My sun sign is Leo and my moon sign is Virgo. I'm not a huge believer of astrology or anything, but I think it's still kind of cool.
I'm Libra and well I don't believe in any of the stuff that's generally said about Zodiac signs because there's often so many traits attached to a sign that is hard to to miss with them. Am I interested in Zodiac signs yes, I've been looking at stuff about it here and there but nothing major.
I'm a Scorpio, which I am okay with I guess? There's a horoscope in the back of the TV mag each week that I occasionally like to read for a giggle. Not sure that I really buy into the personality type thing, but I suppose these things are designed to make people relatable to other people, so generalisation is necessary. Much as I love those designs, I HATE that Scorpio is represented by Cúchulainn, the ugliest bugger in the history of Final Fantasy summons...and considering that the others mostly resemble the animals they're supposed to (I say mostly, because Chaos is in no way a bull) it's a pretty bad design too on top of that...
Chaos has bull horns to its armor, but I agree that they could have done much better there, like with Mateus who has somewhat fishy armor. But how can you not like Cuchy? The first time I summoned it after the fight against it in FFXII, I said "you have such a cute smile and I want to get a big jiggly hug from you, even though you're only scorpion-ic in regards to your poison!" It's FFT representation is ugly AF though, like a zombie version of Gluttony from Fullmetal Alchemist. I also remembered just now that not only does Pokémon have the Chinese zodiac continually represented in every Fire-type starter Pokémon so far, but there was also a brief mention in Gen 5 about a Unova horoscope with 1:1 comparisons to the Western zodiac we're discussing here: Aries: Whimsicott (sheep/ram) Taurus: Bouffalant (bull) Gemini: Klink (twins) Cancer: Crustle (crab) Leo: Braviary (lion? I guess it has a mane...) Virgo: Gothorita (humanoid female person thing?) Libra: Lampent (scale or symmetrical inanimate object) Scorpio: Scolipede (not even an arachnid) Sagittarius: Fraxure (should be a centaur) Capricorn: Sawsbuck (should be a goat) Aquarius: Simipour (the water-carrier) Pisces: Alomola (fish) They kind of lose me in real-world fall and winter, and it feels really forced, but I guess it's still cool.
