Art/Graphic Zero makes userbars, I guess

Urk. I just woke up.

Yeah, I make userbars. I guess.

So, uhh, you might have seen some around: I've had one for myself for a while, and I've made one other for Arod. Check these out:



I'll make one for you, if you like. I'm not going to lie, this is not 100% my own creative product. I use the resources provided here (massive thanks to them) and a few of my extra brain cells to cook this up. It's pretty easy to make your own, but I'm looking for reasons to get more familiar with using GIMP.

Here's what I need from you if I'm to make one of these:
1: How wide do you want the userbar? Maximum 500 pixels per forum rules. Both of the examples above are 300 pixels, because for my own purposes I think 500 is long, but your sense of style is your own.
2: What colors do you want? I'll do up to two colors vertically (like my left example, dark bottoms make for a good shadow effect) and I could try with three colors horizontally like if the Charizard-Feraligatr example above had a yellow between them, but no promises until I've gotten it to work. I recommend you do something like "the exact green of Zero's Junk Armor" or "the exact blue of Kirby from the same game" or "the color of my name with my forum ranking". I guess I can also use an image background, like if you want a leafy scene or whatever. I guess that would look nice. Or maybe sand or rust or ocean waves or something. Those could be pretty. You gotta provide me with the image though. I promise this root beer is zero-proof.
3: What effects (glossy glow from above, slanted/dotted texture, non-textured background) do you want? I really recommend keeping the glossy shine from above and some kind of slant/dot texture if you have a color gradient background, or else it will look super flat. I'll post examples of the different effects later. Eventually. Probably next year.
4: What images do you want, if any, and what placement? Left, middle, right? Up to two, really. Game sprites are probably best, but keep in mind shrinking images or me getting rid of backgrounds will probably look low quality. Either link me to the image(s) or upload directly into your post.
5: What text do you want, if any? I'll increase the text size above default if that helps it, but my "Maverick Hunter" is the minimum size that looks good, so use that as a guide for if you're being too wordy or not. I can cram letters closer to that, so with one image I can probably fit like 25 letters and still look okay-ish. My "Maverick Hunter" above actually has deliberate spacing added between every character.

Now, let's talk schedule and payment. Schedule is: there is none. I might even refuse to make it outright if I feel like it (but I probably won't (probably)). Price: name your price, no minimum. However. However. I will keep a list of who I've completed commissions for and how much they've paid, listed publicly up here in order paid. I think a fair price is five pp, but I recommend everyone always pays me zero pp so that nobody starts to look cheap and ungrateful for paying less than everyone else. Yes, this part is a social experiment, why do you ask?

One more thing: animated gifs. I don't know how to work with them. If you successfully teach me how to put animated sprites (such as Gen 5+ Pokémon) into an exported GIMP project, I'll include a thank you message in the text of my signature for at least one full year. Thank you Gwoomy for being skilled, cool, and friendly enough to teach me how to do this! However, it is still a very tedious task, so I'm probably not going to make any of these. Sorry to anyone who wanted one.

So yeah. Zero makes userbars, I guess. And he'll make one for you.

 

@Tala you caught me at a busy time of my life, but I can probably still make this happen quickly. That sprite is... not ideal quality, but I can probably make it work. Check my attached image below and let me know if that scaled satisfactorily, knowing I'll probably tweak the outlines further and flat-colored sprite-ify some remaining blurs later. The sprite itself I will probably keep the size you see below, which is about 100 pixels tall (keep that in mind concerning signature height rules) which is nearly 1.5x as tall as the two examples I have at the top. If I scale it down any more, it will look either blurry or jumbly, but I'll try if you want me to. Alternatively, if you're concerned about height constraints, I could do a fade-out in the bottom half of the sprite (with it otherwise twice as tall as you see here, final product maybe 80 pixels tall) and have it be like a bust-shot sprite instead.

For the bar along the back, since it's red and black, I'll probably align it at about chest height so that there's some pleasant contrast with the cloak, not just blending right in with the red of the pants. When you say you want the bar to be black and red, I assume you want it to be like my current userbar or my green example in the first post: red on top and black on bottom for a shadow effect. If you want it to be left and right, I'll put Asakura on the black side and text on the red side (likely with Asakura mirrored to face right while standing on the left over a red part of the bar).

If you don't tell me to something else, I'm going to make a bar with almost exactly the image below that looks almost exactly like my green example in the first post. I won't be starting for over 24 hours, so don't stress about grabbing my attention super immediately.

 

@Tala Oh wow, did you forget? I kind of forgot, but the busy condition of my life wore off two weeks ago. Anyway: Version 1.0 of the userbar you requested is below. I'll let you decide if it's good enough, but here's what I'm iffy about and am absolutely open to improving if you agree:

1: The red of the background bar is kind of weak, I might want to make it more vibrant.
2: The sprite is not 100% perfect, it has some grainy-ness. It's as good as I can make it, but if you can track down a perfect quality sprite to work with, I think it will be a very easy improvement.
3: The text looks kind of close. My way to easily space everything out by a pixel each malfunctioned, but if you agree that it would be better spread out I'll find a reasonable way.

Do you agree with those changes, have any other ideas, or like this just the way it is?

 

I can do that: I'll get my hands on the same Umbreon sprite in full quality, and make pretty much the same thing. The bumblebee stripes would look super silly in this format, so I think what I'll do is have yellow in the top half of the bar shading down to a shadowed black toward the bottom, like my current userbar but yellow instead of blue. I suppose I could experiment with yellow text, but it will probably look awful, which leaves me with two questions:

1) Do you want any spaces between Trap and Nation or between Nation and the numbers?
2) Do you want a version with the text perhaps being the blue of Umbreon's eyes or the yellow of it's shiny, or just make it easy with white only?

I'm going to hold off until you let me know what you want about those two.
