Just a random black and red recolor of Hypno.
I decided to see what Galvantula would look like in purple, and the rest just kind of developed naturally. This is actually more-or-less just Ariados' color scheme but with the red and purple switched.
Skarmory is usually a silver/gray color, so I decided to make it gold.
I decide to put Gardevoir's top half on top of a Surskit. From there I felt like giving it Scizor's right arm and a tentacle for its left arm. But then I changed my mind and gave it Rhyperior's left arm instead. After that I decided to add the tail of a Gyarados and the horns of both Tauros and Rhydon. During the process of putting it all together I also made sure to give the whole thing Gardevior's normal color scheme and made a shiny version afterwards. I actually feel like this thing turned out way better than it should have and it's one (or rather, two) of my favorite sprites this time around. If not in general.
After creating that last monstrosity, I decided to follow it up be mixing together Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff and Togepi. I have no words to describe this thing other than monster. Pocket monster.
I decided to try splicing various Pokémon sprites together to try and create something resembling the Behemoth monster from various Final Fantasy games. I ended up using the body of Raikou, the tail and fin of Gyarados, the hair of Zoroark, the horns of Houndoom and the head of Kangaskhan. Then I used the palettes from Furret (for the hair), Zekrom (for the horns and claws), Nidorino and Nidoking (for the purple sections of the body) and Sneasel (the reddish-pink sections of the body). I really like the results and along with Garbamination this is one of my favorite sprites that I've made.
And after those more creative and interesting sprites I went right back to more boring, generic stuff. This one is just a Reinculus Rinoclus Rienolculus Reuniclus without the gel that makes up most of its body.
Arceus is said to have created the world with his 1,000 arms. But Arceus doesn't have any arms, so I decided to give him a pair. I only gave him two arms, though, as 1,000 would be way to many to try and make.
I erased the shells from Omanyte and Omastar's sprites, then decide that I needed to share these things with the world. Omanyte kind of reminds my of a Muppet, while Omastar looks like some kind of alien.

Your recolors are very visually pleasing, and that meshes well with the precision spriting in the fusions, especially the behemoth. I didn't start to recognize the pieces until they were pointed out, which is really impressive.

Thanks. I actually tend to put quite a bit of effort into choosing the right colors for things. I generally look around at other Pokémon sprites to try and see what I think will work the best for whatever I'm working with and often end up recoloring something three or four times before I'm finally satisfied. It gets especially complicated when I'm recoloring something that uses more shades than usual, meaning that I have to use colors from two or three other sprites that happen to go well together (and I only take colors from sprites in the same game/series as whatever I'm working with in order to make them as 'authentic' as I can).

    @BZRich64

Hi! Your Hypno color switches are sensational. That dark color works really really well with the new palette you're using on Hypno. Have you ever thought about picking one of these palettes and applying it to all the legendaries or like all the starter Pokémon? Would be a cool sprite sheet!

Also, Buffceus is the best creation ever. Period.

No, actually I hadn't thought of that. I usually pick decide on color choices for a specific Pokémon rather than as part of a group. Although now that you've suggested that I might try it out.

Anyway, on to the update that I was coincidentally already about to post. After making that Behemoth sprite last time I've decided to try making more Final Fantasy-themed Pokémon sprites. These require more time and effort than my usual stuff, which is why its been a while since my last post and why there aren't many sprites here.
This Ifrit sprite is based mostly off of the FFVIII design of the classic esper/eidolon/whatever. It was made using the legs of Haxorus, the torso and arms of Machoke, the head of Zangoose, the horn(s) of Absol and the, um... hair... of Beartic. The orange part color was taken from Charizard, the brown is from Kabutops, the gold of its eyes are from Haxorus and the horns keep their coloration unchanged from Absol.
This Shiva sprite isn't really based off of any specific official design, though the Dissidia NT and WoFF versions were my main source of reference. Her torso and legs are from Speed Form Deoxys, her upper arms are from Blaziken, her lower arms and part of her hair is from Jynx, her face comes from the Nursery Aide, the hoops behind her arms and legs are from Cresselia, the flaps handing off her hips are a Vibrava's wings and the back part of her hair is an Articuno's Tail. I also ended up using Articuno's color pallet exclusively for this.
I primarily used the FFIV, Dissidia NT and WoFF designs of Ramuh as a reference for this, but the end result is almost completely original and barely resembled any official design for Ramuh. The bottom of its robes are taken from Jynx while the rest of its body was an Electivire. His head is Drayden with some slight edits to his hair and beardline to make it look a bit nicer and his beard is a Ninetale's hair. The top of the staff was modified from Raichu's tail while I ended up drawing the handle myself. The green and white used come from Gardevoir, while the dark gray is a mux of Donphan and Darkrai, the blonde for his hair and beard is from Ninetails, the flesh-color for his face was leftover from Drayden and the blue is from Blastoise.
This last one isn't FF related, but just a quick recolor idea I had and decided to try out.
Each of these Porygon uses the color-scheme of one of Kanto's legendary Birds. From left to right they're Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.

Inspired by @Vigilance's comment about using a shared pallet for all of the starter Pokémon, I've done more or less that. All three forms of every starter Pokémon from the first five generations sharing the same black (or rather, dark gray) coloration (which ends up looking dark on some and lighter than others based off of what specific shades I used and how the shading is done on each specific sprite) replacing their most predominate color while that color ends up replacing their secondary color or colors. For the most part I tried to just have two colors on each one, though I chose not to change eye colors, the insides of mouths, or fire, and some needed a third color or else they just didn't look right. I'm happy with how most of these turned out, though some didn't turn out as well as the others. Looks at the Chimchar, Piplup and Tepig families. Anyway, here you go.

I also made a Blastoise recolor based off of Turtonator. It's not quite as good as I was hoping but stills looks alright.

Ahhhh man you are so talented! I love this palette you've introduced us too. I also was blown away by the 3 porygon a couple of posts above that followed the Kanto Bird scheme. Good job!

Its been a while since I've done any spriting to due technical issues these past couple months, but I'm back!
I actually made these a few months ago but didn't end up sharing them until now. After binging all three seasons of the anime series Overlord, I decided to make a bunch of Pokémon recolors based off of the some of the main characters. The main inspiration for them being the fact that Cocytus happens to look a lot like Golisopod. Sadly, I didn't have a Golisopod sprite to work with, so I ended up using Armaldo for him instead.
As I'm sure you can tell, these Zigzagoon and Linoone recolors are based off of their new Galarian forms that were recently revealed not to long ago. I may go back and edit them to actually look like the new forms instead of just using their color schemes, but who knows.
The name says it all, really. I made a green Tangrowth recolor. I used Tangrowth's normal vine color for the ends up its arms and legs.
I was looking at Skorupi and Drapion's sprites and thought that they would look good with yellow and black stripes like a bee. It turns out that they do.
I decided to make black versions of Nidoking and Nidoqueen with their secondary colors replaced with their normal primary colors. ALthough I feel like I may have done something similar before, I didn't feel like checking. After that I made black and white versions that happen to look kind of like pandas and decided to just roll with it.
Fearow and Ho-Oh share a lot of common design elements, so I decided to give Fearow Ho-Oh's color scheme. It looks pretty good on it, if I do say so myself and I think I may end up reversing the color swap soon to make a very boring Legendary Bird.

I feel like I'm on a bit of a role right now. I've already got another batch of assorted recolors here for you all to see and its only been a couple days since my last post here.
I said that I would do it and surprisingly I actually did. Ho-Oh with the colors of a Fearow. It's a pretty boring color scheme as I thought, though it actually works surprisingly well and I'm not sure between this one and the Ho-Oh colored Fearow which I prefer.
For some reason Sneasel's sprites in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver depicted it as being brown with bluish-silver feathers rather than its official color scheme. This was fixed in Crystal and we've never seen a brown Sneasel since then. BUT NO MORE!
Not really much to this one. I decided that Chansey would probably look good in purple so I decided to see what it would look like with a combo of Koffing and Weezing's shades. It turned out darker than I originally wanted but I liked how it turned out so I didn't bother changing it. I also gave the egg in its pouch a slight green tint using Koffing and Weezing's skull pattern, implying that it's gone bad. You could say that this is would a Poison-type Chansey could look like. Okay, maybe there was more to this one than I originally implied.
I started out making recolors of Riolu and Lucario based off of Goku's gi from the Dragon Ball franchise. I kind of went off theme part-way through and ended up with these. I white parts look kind of wonky but other than that I think they look kind of interesting, which is why I didn't just get rid of them as soon as I was done.
These are pretty much just random recolors of Dialga, Palia and Giratina. Dialga and Palkia's gems have had there colors swapped and Giratina's silver parts are taken directly from its shiny sprite. Other than that its mostly just random colors that I thought might look good. Overall I think Giratina turned out the best and its only now that I realize I forgot to include its Origin form. Whoops.
I feel like Munchlax and Snorlax have rather disappointing shinies (just slightly darker shades of blue than normal and Snorlax's tan turns slightly more yellow while Munchlax's tan uses literally the same shades as normal. I checked.) and I thought that red would suit them better. As implied by what I just said, I actually used the shiny sprites as the bases for these instead of the normal pallets as I usually do.
I decided to make an Emboar recolor based off of Ganon from The Legend of Zelda franchise. At first I wasn't sure which version of Ganon to base it off of specifically but eventually I settled on his appearance in official artwork for Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. Probably should have gone with the Four Swords Adventures design for a more varied color scheme, but whatever.

It feels like an update is overdue, so here's a fresh batch of new recolors (plus one edit). There's a lot of purple in this batch for some reason. At least its something different, compared to all the black and red that tends to dominate a lot of my recolors. Also a lot of birds for no reason whatsoever. I'm not quite sure how it ended up that way.
Honchkrow seems to be based in part off of a mafia don, but make it purple and it looks much more like, well, something else. I feel like the bright, vibrant colors work well with its design, and I put in a splash of green for a nice bit of contrast. Overall I think this turned out well.
Huh, two purple birds in a row. What are the odds of that? I actually made this one several weeks after the Honchkrow, so it was actually just a coincidence that we have two similar sprites in a row. This one was originally supposed to be much darker, mostly black with purple highlights, but it turned out like this first and I decided that it looked better this way than what I had in my head.
Golduck's early Pokédex entries mention that it is often mistaken for a kappa, a popular creature from Japanese mythology. This is weird for two reasons. 1) Real world myths don't seem to exist in the Pokémon world meaning that it doesn't make sense for the kappa to be mentioned (similar to how Gastly's Pokédex entries mentioned an Indian Elephant despite those not existing in Pokémon) and 2) Golduck looks almost nothing like how kappa's are normally depicted. I decided to rectify that second point a bit by giving Golduck a more kappa-like green color scheme. It's still lacking the turtle shell on its back and the water dish built into its head, but at least it looks a bit more like a kappa now.
I noticed that Mega Pidgeot incorperates some blue highlights in its design that looked pretty good, which gave me the idea of making a Pidgeot recolor by swapping its normal red highlights for blue and working from there. I ended up using Pidove's palate for the freathers for a silver and grey color scheme that works very well with the blue. Then I made the yellow stripe on its crest actually be yellow to finish it off. That last part may sound odd, but for some reason Pidgeot's normal Gen V sprite uses the tan color from its feathers in place of the yellow, which seems kind of odd.
Anyone else wonder why the Marill-line don't have purple as their shiny colors. I do, which is why I made this. It probably would have been better to make each one a different shade of purple, since they're normally slightly different shades of blue from each other, but I was feeling lazy and didn't want to hunt down the right shades of purple for each one.
I decided to make Feraligatr look a bit more like an actual alligator and this is what I ended up with. I feel that it turned out really well. Almost looks like some kind of swamp camouflage or something. Although that makes sense, considering that alligators are naturally camouflaged.
I decided to make a pair of Sneasel designed to look more like weasel or something. As I was making them, I felt a sense of deja vu, like I had already made a brown Sneasel before. I quickly glanced through some of my older sprites to see if I had but didn't find them. It was also as I started writing this post that I realized that those ealier brown Sneasel were right in my last post, plus the post before that one has a sneasel with some brown on it and yellow feathers like these ones. Whoops.
I noticed that I could make a centaur-like creature by mixing together parts of Thundurus' and Landorus' Therian forms, so I did. Then I decided to add Tornadus' wings to it to have the full trio included. I'm not entirely sure what this thing is but I feel like it would probably be worshiped as a powerful weather god in the Pokémon world. Then again, the Forces of Nature were already worshiped as gods by the ancient Unovans so of course this thing would be too.

I was looking at Tentacruel's sprite and noticed that the red... orb things that it has reminded me of the gem that Deoxys has in its chest. Therefor I decided to make this Deoxys-themed recolor of Tentacruel.
I decided to swap the colors between Kangaskhan and its baby. Although I had to add some extra shades to be able to give the mother its child's coloration, with the few shades available in its sprite resulted in this purple-y Kangaskhan rather than the gray-blue color that baby Kangaskhan are normally depicted as.
Scizor's sprites from the Generation III Pokémon games all depict it as a bright orange color instead of the dark red its normally depicted as. Personally, I think that orange suits it just as well as red, so I made these recolors. The first one is a male Scizor while the second is a female.
I started out trying to give Golem its dark red shiny design from the Gen II games (later generations made it more orange, getting paler over time) but I ended up with a more orange colorscheme that more closely resembles the midpoint between its original and modern shiny forms. I thought that it looked good, which is why I decided to save it, though I should probably get around to actually making the red version eventually.
I decided to make an ice-themed Lunatone recolor, and figured that I might as well make a fiery Solrock to go with it. I feel like the Lunatone turned out well, while the Solrock is a little too close to its normal design.
I don't know. I just don't know. I feel like I didn't really make this monstrosity so much as it willed itself into existence and I was just the unlucky spriter who happened to channel its unholy spirit.
Wigglytuff's early sprites tended to be kind of off, and very inconstant. Looking at them, I decided that it would be kind of fun to mix multiple odd features from several of them together. The first is the eyes, which are mismatched in order to resemble the original Red & Green sprite. There is also the cat-like mouth that the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald spriteshad for some reason. Wigglytuff's Gen I Sprites all showed its hair tuft as being the same lighter color as its belly, which is why I made it white here. And finally is the fact that Gen II Shiny Wigglytuff is just regular Wigglytuff with green eyes instead of blue (although it could be argued that it was regular Gen II Wigglytuff that had shiny Wigglytuff's fur color).
Shinx's design seems to have been heavily based off of Kimba the White Lion, from the Osamu Tezuma manga of the same name. So, I decided to make a white version of Shinx and its evolutions. I chose pink to replace yellow as the accent color because... actually I didn't really have much of a reason for it. I just thought that pink might fit nicely and it turned out that it did.

The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga is known for many things. One of those things is the Pokémon designs, which are a lot more monstrous and cool-looking than normal. Onix, in particular, is one of the Pokémon that seemed to benefit the most from the manga's art style. This sprite I made doesn't quite capture the sheer power and menace that it emanates in the manga, bit it still looks fairly intimidating compared to normal.
When making what was meant to be what turned into the next Gyarados here, I ended up coming up with the idea of making an albino Gyarados, which is what you see here. Not much else to it.
This recolor doesn't even get a proper name because I wasn't sure what to call it. The initial idea was just to make a Gyarados recolor that was lighter than normal, except for the head-crest which would be darker. After that, I decided to turn all of the fins dark red. I may have been subconsciously influenced by Mega-Gyarados color scheme when making this, but I didn't even realize the resemblance until after I finished.
I decided to turn Reshiram and Zekrom into the colors of their respective energy. Doing so was actually a more of a challenge than I expected and the Reshiram still doesn't look quite right to me. Zekrom turned out nice, though.
Hey, anyone else remember back when Charizard's shiny form was purple instead of red? Well, I decided to recreate that old color scheme as best as I could. Personally I think the purple actually looks better than black on Charizard, though I could be in the minority on that opinion.
Hippowdon reminds me of the game Hungry Hungry Hippos, which involves four players controlling four different colored hippos as they try to eat more small white marbles as they can. Thus, I colored Hippowdon's sprite into the colors of those four hippos.
I decided to see what the Slowpoke evolution-line would look like in yellow, thus I made this. Does anyone else here think that Slowking should have been an evolution of Slowbro instead of a separate evolution of Slowpoke?
The idea occurred to me that Wobbuffet would probably look more intimidating in charcoal-black, so I decided to test it out. I also figured that if I were doing that, I might as well include a lighter-gray Wynaut to go with them. I also made female Wobbuffet's lipstick a bit darker. The fact that female Wobbuffet even has lipstick still cracks me up.
I initially set out to make a Gallade recolor themed after an ancient roman gladiator, but then after settling on using Giratina's golden color for it, I decided to use Giratina's entire pallet instead.

I noticed that Qwilfish's colors are split similarly to a Pokéball. Naturally, this meant that I had to give it the red and white coloration of one (though technically it uses the colors of a Voltorb).

After making the Qwilfish, I noticed that Forretress' colors are arranged similarly to a Premier Ball, with the top and bottom being a single color with a band through the middle being a different color. Thus, I gave Forretress the colors of a Premier Ball (though like the Quilfish this actually takes its colors primarily from Voltorb).

I realized that Grimer and Muk would look like they were made of lava if they were an orange-ish red color. So I decided to give them the color pallet of a Magcargo. I think it turned out well.
I felt like making a creepy Hypno recolor for some reason. I made the fur color darker than normal to make them look more disheveled and dirty, then made the yellow lighter to try and make it more unsettling. Then I recolored the eyes to have purple pupils and dark sclera to cap off the creepiness factor.
Not much to this one. I just gave Sceptile Swampert's color scheme.
Just a random recolor idea that I had.
Another random recolor. I decided to make Toxicroak green and felt that orange would fit well as its secondary color.
I tried to make a Hariyama recolor based off of the makeup and costum designs used in Kabuki theater. I ended up with two designs and wasn't sure which I preferred, so I saved them both.
I happened to glance at Leavanny's sprite and thought of the Mantis Lords from Hollow Knight. Thus I made this recolor based off of them. I really like how this turned out and I might end up making more Hollow Knight-inspired recolors in the future. Let me know if you'd like to see more of them, and any suggestions you may have for what to recolor.

While Playing Pokémon Sword, I once started camping with a Galarian Corsola that I got from a trade in my party. Galarian Corsola doesn't have its coral protrusions in camp at first I didn't realize that it was a Corsola and thought for a moment that it was some strange, sick-looking white Munna. That is where the inspiration for this recolor came from.

Last but certainly not least for this update is the Shadow Lugia from XD: Gale of Darkness. I know I tried making a Shadow Lugia once years ago, but it wasn't a very good recolor and didn't really look much like it's supposed to. So, I decided to give it another go. It took me quite a while to finally get the colors to look right and I ended up changing the dark blue body quite a few times before I finally managed to get it dark enough. I also messed around with the sections around its eyes to make them look longer and jagged and tried to make the toes a bit more pointed than normal for Lugia in order to try and make it as accurate to the official design as I could manage.

This Alolan Rattata sprite proved to be fairly simple to make, since Alolan Rattata isn't that different than its Kanto variant. Alolan Raticate was a bit trickier though, since I had to make the cheeks and whiskers from scratch. I didn't end up giving Alolan Raticate the... distinctive pattern of its underbelly because is would have been too hard for me to do at this angle. I did make the pattern a bit more jagged than normal, though.
Alolan Meowth and Persian are probably some of the least different from their Kanto forms of all of the regional variants, which made these fairly simple. Altering Persian's head to be rounder and with a shorter neck was a bit of a challenge, but didn't take to long once I got started.

These sprites were from a request by @Jeydis over at my sprite shop (which can be found here). I actually probably should have included these in the last post, but it slipped my mind. It was a challenge figuring out how to make these, but I eventually realized that I could shrink down Mega-Aggron's official artwork to the size of a Gen II battle sprite and essentially just draw over it. That helped speed things up dramatically, but it still took quite a bit of fine-tuning to actually make the sprite look good. Once I finished with that, I decided to make three color variants which are the gray-scale pallet used when playing Gold or Silver on the original Game Boy, plus regular and shiny colors using the GBC's pallet.
A while after making the Mega-Aggron sprites, I decided to try that method of sprite making again with Mega-Banette. The shiny sprite looks a bit off due to the blue being a bit too light, but I couldn't find anything closer to shiny Mega-Banette's colors when looking through the G/S/C sprites. I might make more sprites like this if there's enough interest in them.

This one's just a random Darmanitan recolor based off of the Goron tribe from The Legend of Zelda. Not really much else to say about it.
The first of three new Hollow Knight-inspired recolors. This one was inspired by the various spider-like enemies that can be found in the Deepnest area of the game. I really like the way this turned out.
I really wanted to do a Hollow Knight Flygon recolor, but ther aren't really any enemies or NPCs that look that much like Flygon. In the end I settled for a color pallet based off of the boss Traitor Lord.
There don't seem to be any scorpion-themed enemies in Hollow Knight, which seems kind of odd. I ended up using several different enemies as reference when making this one, but I feel like Garpede is the one it ended up looking like the most, hence my decision to name it after that enemy.

Those are some nice looking Hollow Knight sprites! The Manyis Lord Leavanny is my personal favorite so far. They're one of my favorite bosses.

I made a bunch of sprites and decided to wait until I made a few more before posting, only to take a break from spriting and forget about what I had ready to post. So, here's a late update that also happens to be my first post here of 2020 (even though all of these sprites were made in 2019, except two I'll mention later).

I noted that Ferrothorn's body was similar to Metagross' main body, so I decided to make rearrange Ferrothorn's vines to resemble Mettagross' legs.

These recolores of the Abra evolution line are based off of Impidimp and it's evolutions. Sadly I didn't have a Mega Alakazam sprite to color like Giga Grimmsnarl.

Here we have every variant of Cap Pikachu, from the seventh generation games. From left to right: Ash's original cap, Ash's Advanced Generation cap, Ash's Sinnoh cap, Ash's Best Wishes cap, Ash's XY cap, Ash's Sun and Moon cap and Ash's I Choose You cap.

The idea of a Beedrill/Flygon hybrid popped into my head one day when I was trying to take a nap and refused to leave. I don't recall how long I spent trying to make the concept work, but I'm pretty sure it took at least a couple hours, with a lot of different ideas of how to rearrange parts and color things before I finally managed to make something that didn't look terrible, and I'm quite happy with the result.

I found this thing when looking around at old trainer recolors that I made years ago, and it's one of the few that still looks good. I don't recall what my thought process in coloring this but considering the file is literally named "Random Ghetsis Recolor" I guess they were just colors that I thought would look good. Which they do.
Another old recolor (or rather, two) that I found going through old files. These are recolors of the Linebacker trainer class from Black and White with the uniforms recolored to Oregon's major University football teams. On the left is the Oregon Ducks and on the right is the Oregon Beavers. I don't remember why I made these since I don't care about sports, let alone (American football).

Not much here, just Blue wearing a blue jacket and gray pants.
Just a Hilbert recolor I made. I think the color scheme turned out good.

These trainers were inspired by Mark (the player character Pokémon Trading Card game and male player character of Pokémon Card GB2), Mint (female palyer character from Pokémon Card GB2) and Ron (the rival of both games). Of the three, I think Ron looks the most like the original, while Mark and Mint have some differences in their clothing.

This was a project to edit the Kanto Gym Leaders' sprites from Black2 and White2 to resemble their appearances in the original games/the gen III remakes. For the most part I tried to get them as accurate as possible, though I didn't feel like removing Misty's jacket or Blaine's cane.
I broke up the Behemoth sprite I made a while ago into individual parts, which I will eventually use to make an animated version of the sprite. I also made a few minor changes to the shading in parts and made the black parts a bit lighter. I think it looks a bit better now than it did before.

These are phenomenal!! I especially love the trainers and the Anime Pokémon, it's really nice to see these rare Pokes. You could make the 'ancient Pokémon' that appear at around chapter 70? They were giant Pokémon (Gengar and Alakazam).
