Greetings everyone! After a catastrophic failure of my randomizer save file I have decided to go back to basics so to speak and retry a RP run on the ever difficult Platinum. Now I shelved the Pokemaniac run for a bit later (Sword and Shield is looking promising for those egg groups) and decided to give another try to the Ruin Maniac trainer class. I never posted it here but I had a run of this in Platinum a few years ago that I failed at and I wanted to give it another go. So here are the rules: Rules: -Permadeath -Use only Rock, Ground or Psychic types. -Pokémon that would fit the theme of "Ancient" are also accepted -Only catch the first Pokémon that fits the type for each location. -No trades/Gift Pokémon -Fossils and Starters are the exception to the above (up to one of each Fossil Pokémon) I have started it up about 10 minutes ago so no crazy activity yet but everyone meet Geb! (proper full art sheet to be done tonight)
@HiddenLore Turtwig is also a favorite of mine. So far so good! ============== Hurried my way to route 203 to catch myself an Abra. Fantastic bit of luck she was Modest! I am liking this run already. Here is the full team fiche complete with art from Kali Ciesemier which I love.
The journey continues! I did a fair bit of exploring and took down the first gym. No problem at all with Geb around of course. I expanded the team quite a bit around the Oreburgh area with a couple of tough Rock Pokémon in Atlas and Mokosh. I also took the time to level up Freyja to at long last get her to level 16 and to the less adorable but much more useful form of a Kadabra. I was apprehensive about Valley Windworks after having some bad times there in previous playthroughs, but having Atlas around made it a breeze which was a nice change. Picked up Wirnpa along the way, always been fond of the Shellos line so I was glad. Eterna city approaches! And that means I can get my hands on an explorer pack at last. So does anyone wanna guess what will be the first fossil-mon to join the team? I am kinda hoping for some Old Amber to even out the types of the team a bit but honestly I am just excited to use fossil-mons.
Nice, I love shellos as well, I remember thinking it looked like a pre-lapras, but the big slug design is still pretty cool.
You are playing nozlocke with type restrictions? It is awesome. I think the ralts family will be best for your sixth Pokémon as your team is currently very weak to grass type.
Got back into this a bit while in the hospital (everything is ok, no worries) so here is an update! Our first loss occurred sadly, while training in Eterna forest Mokosh fell to Bug Catcher Jack's Beautifly. I completely forgot that the fragile butterfly Pokémon ran Absorb so I tried to KO it quickly and failed So here is the team currently, I am doing frequent dives into the underground to see if I can dig up fossils. Nothing so far sadly. Very happy to pick up Asura though, Meditite and Medicham have been long favorites of mine. Yeah they are quite cute. Oh man that should be soon actually for Route 208 I think, that should help indeed.
Gallade learns X scissors by using TM and leaf blade by level up. This will be a great Pokémon to fight water and grass type and provide a better coverage in your team
Took a small break because I got back into BotW (joycon drift fixed by a good friend of mine) will be back very soon though.
And I am back! Had to do quite a bit of grinding to get both the gym and get through the galactic hideout. Saturn has ruined runs for me before so I try to take her seriously. Sadly she still reaped a victim in Atlas he was the logical tank for this and was taken down by a crit Night Slash. Ain't that always the way? I cheered myself up by heading down to Wayward cave's secret entrance to pick up a potentially powerful ally: Keres the Gabite! I love raising these guys in runs so this should be fun. I will be hanging out on route 206 for a bit though both to level and to catch myself a mischievous Gligar (thanks to the no dupes clause that is the only 'mon I can catch here). I have been checking into the underground a ton but no luck in finding my first fossil .
I am back! After doing some grinding and still losing 2 Pokémon in the Hearthome gym (shadow balls hurt no matter how much you train) much I got a bit discouraged and played other games for a bit So here is the group as they are today, training near Solaceon. I am being really careful with Galavant as I reallllllly want him to evolve to help me out with fighting coverage. Wish me luck!
Just a question: Do you plan on evolving Freyja? If so, how do you do it? As it requires trading to evolve.
@RWBY Gaster Nope she will be staying a Kadabra, still has great speed for in game for a long while. We will see how it goes!
