Theres many different spinoff games, and sadly, as of recently it seems theres been less and less. Most spinoffs seem to be mobile games nowadays. Personally, I wish some new spinoff games would be released on the switch over mobile devices. A reboot of older spinoffs like ranger or battle revolution could be awesome! Do you have a favorite spinoff game? Maybe an idea of a new spinoff game? Do you like most spinoff games being on mobile devices now?
Yes, my thoughts exactly. What I wouldn't give for a new Mystery Dungeon game on the Switch (Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon is fine for now, but I still need my PMD fix gad dang it). Pokémon Ranger was an interesting series that I kind of also wish they'd bring back. And I miss the old Coliseum/XD Gale of Darkness games too for adding a twist to the original game format (even if catching shadow Pokémon seemed a bit more frustrating than catching wild ones). The Stadium games need to come back for sure, especially with all the fun mini games they could come up with now. In my honest opinion, Battle Revolution was nice to look at, but it didn't have a lot of substance aside from just being a 3D battle simulator.
I have a long-running history with the Pokémon spinoff games, so I'll just leave my thoughts on all the ones I've played in a single sentence. Pokémon Pinball: One of my favorite GB games that worked with the limits of the hardware to provide one of the most fulfilling pinball experiences on the console, possibly even better than Kirby Pinball. Pokémon Trading Card Game: While my brother loved it, I honestly didn't really care for it just because the game has evolved so much over the years, and this one is very simple in comparison. Pokémon Pinball R&S: Basically the same as the one on the GB, but heavily more advanced than its predecessor, plus you can catch Kecleon in it! Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue Team: A really nice game with a good plot, good mechanics and good characters, though the DS version is obviously the superior of the two. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky: Considered the high point in the franchise for some very good reasons, though Sky makes the previous two games obsolete by doing all the amazing things they did, but better. The Pokémon Ranger Series: Despite the fact that all of them left a heavy circle indent in my touch screen, the gimmick was enough to keep me coming back for more and more, though my favorite falls between Shadows of Almia or Guardian Signs. Pokémon Trozei: Fun little puzzle game, but didn't keep my attention for too long. Pokémon Conquest: A game that I wish people talked about more, with a unique concept and gameplay that has left me drooling for a sequel ever since. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity: Played it a little, but I soon stopped due to the lackluster story and characters. Pokémon Art Academy: I wish I stuck with it a little more, because I did have legitimate fun attempting to learn how to draw Pokémon. Detective Pikachu: Nearly finished it but misplaced it, I thought it was a relatively decent crime-solving game, even though Phoenix Wright serves up a much better case than this. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon: The most fun I had with a PMD game since Explorers, and would easily be the number one game in the franchise if it wasn't held back by the Explorer's Orb. Pokémon Shuffle: I honestly really enjoyed this Pokémon Trozei sequel, which is totally what it is, though I did eventually get bored of it and moved on. Pokémon Picross: Would've loved it more if the free-to-play aspect of the game wasn't so demanding. Pokémon Rumble World: Honestly my favorite of the 3DS freemium titles, with enticing gameplay that kept me coming back, though I did once again get choked out due to the limits placed on the game for people who didn't pay. Pokémon TCG Online: A really good simulation of the physical game, with many different perks for people who actually bought the physical cards like I sometimes did. Pokémon Duel: Had a lot of fun with this unique board game set-up, which makes it a mystery as to why Nintendo is shutting it down now.
My favourite Spin-Off Pokémon Title? Definitely Super Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Besides it being the only spin-off title I've played in the Pokémon universe, I think I can assume for myself that I won't find anything better in the other spin-off titles. Tbh, I don't like that Nintendo/GameFreak/whoever is in charge of Pokémon bringing titles to mobile phones. That might be because of my already sour opinion of the mobile games market, though I'm not sure. I'd rather have one big and fun game for the Nintendo Switch etc... than a possibly with microtransactions filled mobile game.
Inb4 you realize that Pokémon Quest, a micro-transaction filled mobile game, is available on Nintendo Switch.
Oof, I really didn't knew that. Well, I did, but forgot. Thanks for the notice. Is that game big and fun though
It's a standard farm mobile game, with horde battle sequences in between so you don't get bored. So...I'd say not.
A reboot of the Ranger series would be amazing, is my favorite spin-offs but for them to work on the Switch they'd been to change the gameplay completely, they were not healthy for your touch screen.
I wouldn't mind seeing a new Ranger game, but at this point I'm not expecting any of the old spin-offs to be revived. The franchise seems to be mostly focused on trying new things right now. As for the possibility of a new Stadium or Battle Revolution? It'll never happen. The whole point of those games was to be able to have Pokémon battles in 3D, but now that the main series games are that way it would just be redundant. While I would like to see mini-games like the old Stadium games used to include, it would probably just make more sense for them to make a Pokémon mini-game collection than to have it as just a part of a Stadium-style game. That said, I would totally buy a Pokémon mini-game collection.
Oh a mini-game collection would be super nice, especially if they feature some new ones and remakes of the older Stadium games, I would totally pay for that.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Conquest are my favorite spinoffs~ But imagine an open-world version of both, that would be awesome~!
My favorite would be Pokémon conquest and it would be really easy to make a sequel too. The game needs tons of improvements and optimizations, for example, your Pokémon can only have 1 move. If they released a sequel that only changed the number of moves a Pokémon could learn to 4 I'd still pick it up and say best sequel. Pokémon Conquest doesn't need much of a story, so if they just make a bigger map, more options for empire construction and expand the turn based combat (or make it real time that would be innovating). Conquest is a game that isn't the best, but has so much more potential. Could you imagine a civilizations or total war game like Pokémon Conquest? I don't think that will ever happen but dreaming about a sequel to this game that needs it just makes me wonder.
