As a Youtuber that's trying to get into making Minecraft videos (I don't have actual Minecraft that I can record with, just Story Mode) joining something like Hermitcraft is on my bucket list as Youtuber. I'd love to play Minecraft with the likes of Grian and the other Hermits just because it would be a very fun time for me.

Of course there are some barriers that I need to break down in order to join Hermitcraft, other than getting Minecraft Java Edition of course.

Should it ever come to pass that I join Hermitcraft, I will need ideas of what can go in my base. The Hermits usually build a starter base, and then their actual bases are generally much bigger. Of course, I'm too lazy to build a second base especially in Survival Minecraft, so when I do, the first base is usually temporary. Unless I decide to build a Nether Base. I'm never 100% sure what I might make as my base, but I do tend to have issues involving space.

I don't usually have very high ceilings in my builds, so I don't usually have room for a chandelier and the like, but when I go after having a lot of space, I tend to run out of ideas on how I can fill it all. Now, my Gamertag is MagicEmperor407. I don't know how I ended up with that, but what I think I should do is try to own up to it, so naturally I'm going to have a base near a village, and I'll go for having a lot of Redstone in my base as well, but we're getting off track

Obviously, I should fill my build with farms related to my Gamertag. For example, I know I could use an automatic Sugarcane farm. This is because Sugar Cane is used to make Sugar and Paper, the former being a Potions ingredient and the latter being used to make books, which can be enchanted for later use. For similar reasons, I could have an automatic melon farm as Glistening Melons can be used to make Potions of Healing (or Harm). That doesn't mean I will as Glistening Melon requires gold, which can only be farmed in the Nether. I'm better off trying to get it in Villager trades imo.

I would also likely need some animal pens to keep things like rabbits and cows. A Lucky Rabbit's Foot goes into making a Potion of Leaping (or Slow Falling) and Leather is needed for books. I probably should also include a Super Smelter somewhere along with loads of other furnaces/smokers/blast furnaces for banking XP. I would also include a vault, an armory, a library for my Enchantment Table, and a Villager Trading Center.

Any suggestions for what I could add to this list?

The main habits I have picked up as a pretty casual Minecraft player is to organize your chests early so its less of a headache later. I normally set up 3 double chests for ore and other things mined up from the earth. Another set of chests for wood, plants and seeds and the last group for things like food, tools etc.

I usually can't be bothered. For me it's more "Fit what I can where I can" because most of the time I can't be bothered to craft up chests.

The reason for this is that it's very hard to plan for a "main storage" early on, at least in my case. I joined someone's realm on Bedrock, and I still don't have one. Not even after starting on my proper base. My item storage is basically just a wood shack on a hill that I'm working on hollowing out until I have room for the actual item storage. I do mostly try and keep equipment in the same chest.

I think that tree and wheat farms would also be good, that being because you can trade wheat and sticks to villagers to get emeralds, which will make it easier to get the gold from them. Plus, if you go with oak trees, you can get apples for golden apples.

I've never seen a villager trade gold equipment before. Plus Farmer Villager don't always buy wheat from my experience. I've seen them buy carrots, potatoes, and beetroot instead. Though maybe I should build an automatic melon and pumpkin farm after all. They do buy those at levels 2 and 3, and I can use the pumpkins make golems when I need to or protect myself from Endermen. As for tree farms, I don't see a way for those to be automatically farmed. I could also get apples from Farmers from my experience.
Well, I did make an alternate skin for when I finally play Java with Mumbo's suit and stache, but I am saving it for Hermitcraft or whenever I'm doing a lot of Redstone. Whichever comes first probably.

Having a higher ceiling goes a long way in decorating bases, trust me. The biggest tip I ca give you is to learn the differences between Bedrock and Java, you'll be surprised how different they can be. As for some other things to have, here are some suggestions:

A villager breeder for a villager trading area and/or an iron farm is good if you're willing to put up with the pain of transporting villagers.

An automatic pumpkin and melon farm for trading with farmer villagers will go a long way for hording emeralds. Alternatively an auto sugar cane farm to trade paper with librarian villagers works too.

Weaponsmiths and toolsmiths are great for getting enchanted diamond gear to use as is or disenchanted for exp.

If you can get on top of the nether a gold farm would be a good idea for golden carrots however I hear the gold farms are broken in 1.16.

I don't actually have to build an iron farm if I smelt down the iron equipment I can get from armorer, weaponsmith, and toolsmith villagers. If I do build one though, I'm going to make it double as a bone meal farm. Gotta do something with the flowers dropped by golems.

That's true but an iron farm will give you a LOT more iron than simply smelting down iron equipment. Smelting gives iron nuggets while even a basic iron farm gives hundred of ingots per hour, thousands from a really good one.

Like the one Mumbo built in Hermitcraft Season 7, which is why I mentioned the Bonemeal. He had a lot of flowers to go with his massive supply of iron.

I should probably look at building one myself when I get the chance as I happen to be in need of iron atm. Anvils are very expensive to make, and beacons are expensive to build.

Yeah, I'm surprised none of the hermits did that when 1.14 came to season 6. Unless one of them did and I didn't know.
