Oh yeah there's that part. I'm just assuming everyone is just speaking the equivalent of "Common", and it's Azelflover1's preference to have them speak in Japanese?
Yes, it's my preference. I've been watching the original Japanese version of the anime a lot more than the dub recently, and I'm... actually starting to prefer the original to the dub, now that I think about it. This is why I have them speak in Japanese rather than English. You may judge me all you'd like.
Welp, you do you. But either way, I think we'll need a translator device or something for this RP's purposes. Neither Snowy nor Airin can speak Japanese (or write Japanese in Airin's case), and I doubt Maria and Evergreen can speak it either. (@122 Generation?) Edit 1: I forgot to consider Flamberge for this one. Despite being from the same-ish universe as the RP's setting, Choco already presented her as an English speaker. Edit 2: Unless the host is awfully stubborn about the unnecessary language barrier, I'd love to agree with Choco's assumption here: That said, y'all should be lucky that I don't throw Airin's sign language into the "language barrier" thing here.
The bottom line is we still need to find a away for the characters to communicate with each other. As @SAF said, we'll either need a translator or assume everyone is speaking a 'common' language. I'll leave it to you to decide how you want to advance this.
Of course. I'd say a translator could work. The language barrier is unnecessary and unneeded, and I apologize profusely for it.
Ah what I meant was that it was Azelflover's stylistic choice to write them in Japanese (at least in the beginning), whilst everyone is very much speaking the same language the whole time (though the recent posts may have to be rebooted if so). It's okay! Just make it clear that everyone understands each other in-character!
I will give @Azelflover1 credit for that. It is unique to write in Japanese from the get-go and makes up the setting the characters are in. I don't mind if you continue writing as its is now - just probably not when speaking directly to the English-speakers. I do have this idea where Evergreen, as a psychic, could help translate characters' thoughts into speech should some people want to talk telepathically... If that's a way for 'translation' per se.
That could work... possibly. I'm sorry I didn't know that there would be a language barrier. I need to think things through before I make them public.
If we're still going with the semi-language barrier, would it be okay to say Flamberge can understand it but not speak it, just to speed things up? It'd make sense lore-wise as she and her sisters are travellers, and in this canon many others also use Japanese.
Say, I was also wondering: When Evergreen translates thoughts into speech between the characters, could @Azelflover1 also write the Japanese counterpart from time to time? I thought it might be interesting to see how Kirby and co 'hear' the others.
I don't mind. I'll have to put it into Google Translate, though. Yes, I know Google Translate isn't at all accurate, but that's what I used every other time.
And speaking of languages, I ended up having Airin to draw. I mean, pictures should be universal enough for a "language", right?
I can't see it. Maybe it's just URLs from the Kirby Wiki that are having trouble. Wikirby images don't seem to have any problems on my end, for whatever reason.
