Having just found and obtained it in-game (who has since been deemed "Fluffle Puff"), I found myself particularly intrigued by this critter.

    For sake of end-game spoilers:

Upon encountering the beast, you'll find it's name is actually "Necrozma" ("Nekurozuma" in Japanese). Clocking at an impressive 7 foot 10 inches with a BST of 600, this thing hits hard, especially with its signature move "Prismatic Laser" with it's whopping 160 power (of course, it suffers from a cooldown turn afterwards as per tradition) not to mention its ability Prism Shield which reduces super effective damage towards him (much like Filter really). However, the game thus far has been relatively mysterious about the origin of this 'mon, almost implying it could be either an Ultra Beast or a Pokémon.

Either way, it's certainly a very edgy design eh?

Puns aside, what's your thoughts on this beast who lay asleep underground, the beast that feeds off light? I know I personally love the design of this beast, and can see I'm probably gonna spend a lot of time roaming around with him and preying on the souls of the puny mortals.

Well...wormholes can theoretically be opened if something is moving at the speed of light. Light, like the type refracted through prisms. Pokémon Stars anyone?

I believe that Necrozma is a Ultra beast in the same way as the Tapus and Cosmog line are Ultra Beast. They likely came from Ultra Space in the anicient times, but since they have been in the Pokémon World for long enough, that they have adapted to be Pokémon.

I also believe it was an ultra beast that adapted to become a Pokémon. What surpises me is how this thing was insanely hard to catch, yet when I threw a premier ball out of spite the danged thing STAYED IN THE BALL! I really wanted it in a dusk ball too.
Anyway, I suspect that they are doing the same thing that they did with zygarde, leaving the details for laters games as a way to link things together. Remember, nintendo and Pokémon are in it for the long game so they *really* want the series to last for awhile longer.

It's a very alien and artificial looking design and definitely one of the cooler Pokémon IMO for Gen VII.

The fact that it is known to be vicious and shoot superpowerful lasers at anything is just plain terrifying in context

It has to be my least favorite design, but it is certainly an ultra beast. It isn't a mangled set of wires like its brethren but it certainly doesn't look like a Pokémon. It had to have come from the UB dimension for sure but even then it just doesn't fit for me.

Is a very unique design that's for sure, personally I don't care much about it but it got a neat design. I just have a hard time seeing it as just being a regular pokémon, got a feeling it might be a UB that escaped observations. But still it could be a pokémon, Necrozma makes me think of Zygarde in Gen 6 who to me looked very alien compared to other mons from that generation, so maybe is just Game Freak pulling another Zygarde on us.

I wonder if it is an artificially created Pokémon? Maybe while the Aether Foundation was trying to find a way to travel across dimensions, they created Necrozma in hopes of using it to create wormholes, but it escaped and disappeared until the post-game when the player captures it. At least, that's what my current thoughts on it are.

By the way, am I the only one who noticed it shares the last three letters of its name with Guzma? It's probably just a coincidence, but still, now I can't unthink it.

I wonder if there is something to do with zygarde for the next game. They made him important this gen but didn't really say much about why? Maybe they are both UBs or something of the sort.

Hm, well is a possibility that's for sure, Game Freak likes to do that kind of stuff and a mon like Necrozma must have a story to it the look alone is enough to think that.

I'm personally not a huge fan of it but I'm super interested to see if it gets any merchandise and how they'll handle the sculpt (or if it's even possible to make a plush of it)
We've not had any UB figures or plushies yet now that I think about it.
