Was browsing the shop buying Pokeballs when I noticed the GS ball for sale (if you havn't gotten one yet, they cost 1PP and are better than Ultra Balls). I then remembered that the mystery of the GS ball in the cartoon was NEVER solved. Have there been any other mysteries in the Pokémon series (TV or games) that have been unsolved?

    • In Pokémon X and Y there is a building in Lumiose City. Go to the second floor and the lights flicker and a hex maniac appears behind you. With no walking animation she moves infront of you and says "No your not the one.." and disappears.

I can't remember which game but I remember there being a ghost girl who'd just. vanish. when you tried to talk to her... I think it might've been one of the unovian games.

I remember that, I can't remember which bridge it was on, but in Black/White, there could sometimes be a girl that when talked to just dissappears. Another NPC just 2 tiles away will comment once the girl dissappears.

Pokémon Diamond's entry for Acreus- It is described in mythology as the Pokémon that shaped the universe with its 1,000 arms. Where them arms at?
Also why is almost every room in Mauville Hills vacant?
Who is the real first Pokémon, Arceus- god, Mew- genetic ancestor, or Bulbasaur- Pokémon #1 or misingno

Ash's Pikachu doesn't evolve because pikachu's require a thunder stone to evolve. There was even a whole episode in the first season dedicated to whether ash wanted to evolve pikachu or not.

A mystery I could never get over is why in the original rgby games they had professor oak programmed as an opponent but then didn't bother to code in a way to fight him that didn't involve glitches.

actually, about the real "first" pokémon thing — I adopted this theory from someone arbitrary but the idea is that arceus had some other form when it created everything, then created mew ( thus mew is the first and ancestor of pokémon ) before creating the various legendaries, and then it decided it wanted to be with its creations and thus gave itself a pokémon form. that's probably when the thousand arms vanished, haha.

also bulbasaur is just first in the 'dex and rhydon ( or rhyhorn? ) was the first to be drawn.

missingno might've been before everything, hidden and lurking... or just some leftover thing from the creation age.

As SyWry stated, yes, Pikachu needs a Thunderstone. But there is more a explanation, both in the anime universe and in real life. In the show, it was revealed in Electric Shock Showdown that Pikachu is the stage that the line learns its speedy attacks such as Agility and Quick Attack while Raichu is the stage that learns the really powerful (but slow) Thunder attacks. (Not true in the games, but they're not the same)
In almost every season since then there is at least one episode about Pikachu re-deciding that he doesn't want to evolve. Pikachu, and a lot of Ash's other Pokémon, focuses on speed (Pidgeot, Charizard, Greninja, Talonflame, ect) so him evolving into the slower Raichu would mess with the flow and style of Ash's battles and his strategy.
In the real world, Pikachu is the timeless mascot of Pokémon, so if Ash was to have his evolve, it would alienate some viewers potentially. Pikachu, and Ash's over all appearance (..and his age..) are the two things that never change within the series, and regarding how there was a uproar in the fact that Ash got BROWN EYES in Black/White..I think the fandom would have a meltdown if Pikachu finally evolved at some point.

Actually, if you look closely in the Kanto (and some of the Johto) episodes, you can see that Ash's eyes had a very dull brown tint. But it was so dark they looked black instead. This is probably since the quality of those episodes are bad compared to the newer ones. (But redone scenes in the re-release of Mewtwo Strikes Back make it easier to notice the brown tint)

Of course, but what I mean is when they changed the eyes in the B/W anime to make his eyes a more noticeable brown, completely changing his eye structure with the iris more visible than before.

With the introduction of Ultra Beasts and the confirmation of there being a Pokémon multiverse, I think it's a little arbitrary to ask which Pokémon came first. Mew was supposed to be the ancestor of all Pokémon. The way I interpret this is that Arceus came first and created the universe, then Dialga and Palkia, followed by the three lake guardians were created in order for the physical world and the souls of living things to be able to exist. Giratina was probably created as a sort of after effect. It's sort of shown that each of these Pokémon live in some sort of alternate dimensions. While I don't think Mew was the first Pokémon overall and it wouldn't make sense for it to be, it would make sense for it to be the sort of first Pokémon to come into being in the Pokémon world we're familiar with and that all other Pokémon descended from it, making it the ancestor Pokémon.

So here's something I've been wondering about recently. What happened to the humans in the mystery dungeon world? In the first one, there's an old decrepit lab friend area that has flavor text specifically saying that it was built by humans a long time ago. The human who was cursed by Ninetales with a curse that would last 1000 years is still around and because of circumstances it makes sense that he could be that old. Its sort of hinted that he's been around for a really long time too. Pokémon in that world are fully aware of what trainers are. Then in the second game the protagonist was once again a former human, but it's never really explained where the protagonist originally comes from. By Infinity, humans are described as some sort of mythical creatures that no one has ever seen and by Super, they're described as "just a fairy tale".
