I felt compelled to make a new thread here, about something. Right now this is the best idea I have. So, there are a lot of aspects to the Catcher at present - posting to accumulate PP, catching things you don't have, hunting for specifics, evolving, collecting, buying ammo...the list goes on. Even things that are tangentially related, like just making posts somewhere, can tie into the Catcher in some way. Do you have any part of the Catcher that you'd consider your 'favourite' - something that stands out to you amongst everything else about it? Or, put another way, what is it that 'draws' you to the Catcher, to stick with it and enjoy it? And now the floodgates will burst anew.
For me it's simply the incentive to post. I love seeing the little guys grow up n all, but the Catcher kinda forced me to be more active on here and I like that.
I love that it is something for peeps to bond over. Just having a race to see who hatches an egg first, or talking about what to catch next, reporting where you found certain Pokémon and stuff like that.
I just like collecting stuff really so the catcher is just my thing, I do love that it encourage people to post more so they can see their buddy level and grow.
In my case, it is gathering data. My first step will be to look around everywhere and see what species exist, and see which ones catch my fancy (usually about appearance, or sometimes other details I'm informed about later). Those I tend to catch first. Rarer things I'll look for later as part of a hunt. But for the most part I want to see what level things evolve at. I tend to gravitate towards the rarer, less preferred species, so I can work on those for the sake of the Dex (because everyone else and his mother has an Eevee, I don't need to bother with that). Coincidentally, the things I caught above tend to be things people visit on less often, so I don't end up interfering with the work of others. It's quite satisfying when I can successfully report "X evolves into Y at level Z" and it hasn't been noted before, so I always like to give myself a new project. From that comes the incentive to post.
I like helping people with the Catchér- not only does it increase my post count, PP and buddy level but its also just nice in general
I think it's cool just because you can just talk to your friends and suddenly your Pokémon leveled up... Blaziken, Mega Evolve! Blaziken Mega Evolved into Mega Klefki. -_-
My favorite thing is that it makes LV super unique! I've yet to see another forum site with a feature like the Catcher!
I think the incentive to post to level up your Pokémon is probably the best part about the catcher that there is! And it makes posting fun and purposeful beyond having conversations with others; you're raising your own Pokémon in the process, too!
^ This too!! Got my first legendary egg a while ago and I can't wait to see what comes out of it!! ... That remains to be seen after I evolve this Alolan Vulpix. :>
I'd definitely agree with this - it gives me an incentive to post, which for somebody like me is sometimes rather hard to come by. If I can set myself a goal (namely, to evolve something), then I'll be more likely or willing to start posting places and work my way there, one level at a time. ...Of course, I prefer the 3-posts-per-level species over the fivers, if only because I don't have to wait as long for the result. But, alas.
Which ones take five posts to level up to compared to the three? o.o I only have an Alolan Vulpix with me at the moment so I haven't caught anything else (besides hoarding Mythical Eggs) that need anything more than three. Not gonna lie though, I'm kinda impatient and that's why I want to evolve this Vulpix asap.
If it's a second tier evolution so like Metang or Ivysaur, it will take 5 iirc. @moonlight My favorite part is hitting level 100. It's such a fun journey.
Yeah, things that have evolved once will take 5 posts instead of 3. If it's something that's evolved twice, it will take 10 posts per level (ouch!). Mystery/Mythical Eggs take 4 per (Odd Eggs are still 3 per), Legendary Eggs take 5 per, and Legendaries themselves take either 10 or 20, on a case-by-case basis. Needless to say, people don't work on leveling Legendaries very often, unless it's to hatch the eggs.
My favorite part is also the incentive to post. When the Catcher was down, I found myself drifting away from LV, but as soon as it came back I was very active again. I like this forum a lot and it's nice to have a good reason to stick around.
I just like collecting things. That's probably why I like Pokémon in general. Searching through the threads for Pokémon is fun though.
