For me, I'd say it's around once every other month or so if I'm buying anything for the Switch ($60 puts a dent in my wallet, ouch). Currently though, I'm debating getting BotW for my next video game purchase soon, but that'll probably be it until end of February or around there. xD What about you guys?
It depends on what games are being released in the year, but I would like to say that I buy games every couple of months or so. I'm not very good at handling my money...
I don’t have any new home consoles and for my 3DS I basically only have Pokémon, so that’s like once a year. On Steam however I buy new games whenever something I want is on sale, which currently averages at about 3 times a month, but I have a ton of games now, so that number will go down in the near future.
Too often. Like, waaaaay too often. On average, I'd say at least once a week...twice would be pushing it. I can't remember the last time I bought more than 6 full priced (online; obviously I don't pay RRP, because who would when you can knock off 25% of the price if you shop online) games in a single month anyway, let alone 8. I can go weeks without buying games - January has been delightfully quiet, I've only bought Titanfall 2 in sales and Gundam Breaker 3 on PS4 because it was like £20 cheaper than I've ever seen it before - but then 2 or 3 can drop in a single week (week beginning February 12th has Secret of Mana, Radiant Historia AND Bayonetta in it, as an upcoming example...and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is released the week after that too) and I buy them all. Because of limited stock and prices going up for most of the games I'm interested in - as well as my fluctuating moods and always being in the mood for the thing I DON'T buy - I tend to purchase games as they're released unless I'm sure I won't play them for a long while...or they're digital-only so I don't need to concern myself with prices. But when most of your games are JRPGs, and a lot (like, every single Vita VN) need to be imported because people are too cheap/stupid to release things in your region, you're not left with many options. My purchasing habits are dictated by release dates and Steam sales/Humble Bundles. As literally all of my disposable income is spent on video games though, I can usually afford it...just about. Sacrifices are sometimes made. I still haven't bought a lot of the games I wanted last year, and this year I've already prioritised my purchases - I won't be getting Ni No Kuni II unless someone buys it for me, for example. Also been spared buying The Alliance Alive because Atlus, being Atlus, aren't releasing it properly over here, and I refuse to support digital-only titles that get physical releases in the US, especially on 3DS where I can't import. Yeah, I know what I'm doing. Sort of. I also have a wonderful partner who berates me if I buy things I shouldn't. xD
Yeah, I usually got out of my way to get every single new title that interests me, and usually at least once a month. Right now, I'm still playing catch-up with all the Switch titles I wanted but couldn't have because I didn't have a Switch at the time (It's almost complete) and I've been consistently buying one every week or two to make that happen.
It varies for me. It can be once a month, it can be once every six months. It really depends on finances vs. what is availalbe for what price at the time.
When it comes to console games, I'd say probably only once or twice a year. I normally wait at least a few months so that I can get a used copy of a game for cheaper. As for Steam, I may get a couple games during their big sales, but that's about it.
Not often... I try not to buy many games since I hardly play them, and majority of them end up sitting around unbeaten for a long long time. I'd like to buy more once I have the time to play through my current list. Owning physical copies of games feels really nice, and I do end up keeping the box too. ♥ I'd say I buy a game once every 4-6 months or so??
More often than I should, but not as often as I'd like. My poor bank account, I save it up to be responsible then waste it all on impulse game purchases
Maybe once or twice a year, maybe 3 if I 1. get a new Console or 2. visit my family-owned used game store.
Not often at all, considering I only have a PC to play on. The last game I purchased was Overwatch about 6 months ago, and before that it was Alien Isolation which was around this time, so about a year ago, give or take.
I might actually purchase games more often now that I have a 128gb SD card on my Switch. =o So I think around two or three times a month max instead of once a month. We'll see!
Not that often really... I'm pretty picky when it comes to games. The frequency of purchases usually depends on the interest and cost of the games themselves too. I might get multiple games at once on steam if they seem interesting, but only get a Nintendo game once every 3 or 4 months depending on the release... or buy in bulk and go a whole year without buying a new game lol.
I'm lucky if I'm able to buy a game two times a year, and the majority of the games that I do have are given to me by friends that are bored of one of their games. (Let's just say that I'm not getting the Switch anytime soon)
I rarely ever buy games mainly because I don't find any that seem interesting. Lately, I've been so busy that I haven't been able to play the few games I have and it's only lead to me diminishing my purchasing of games. There are a few things I want to buy, but even if I do, I won't have the time for it.
