Gameplay Journal My Alpha Sapphire Nuzlocke

Welcome to the community day Nuzlocke event. As the title indicates we are entering the world of Alpha Sapphire. I've never beaten a Pokémon game as fast as I'm going to need to in order to stay ahead, so we will see how I do.
but first, the rules:
Nickname everyone- my theme is underwater, for various reasons, so if you have any ideas let me know
Faint=Dead
Blackout=Fail
No EXP Share
No Amie
Gift Pokémon are fine
Trade evolutions need 10 levels to evolve
no legends

The amie and EXP share are going to make this much harder. Sigh. Onward into the world of Pokémon!

Valerie leaves the moving van and heads inside to get settled. It isn't long before she finds herself going to make friends with the neighbors, and saving a hapless professor (seriously Birch is easily the least impressive professor) and she grabs Mudkip, probably a terrible choice, but I used a random number to choose. Valerie bravely battled the dangerous poochyena, and named her new Pokémon Algae.
Valerie travels quickly to meet her new rival, and spots him staring blankly into space.

We had a nice bout where a absolutely crushed his treeko, then we headed back to the lab to really begin our journey in earnest. I can't wait to see what will happen.

Entry 2

With Valerie's journey officially underway, it was time to catch the first new team member. after getting the Dex Nav, Valerie wandered the grass and found....

A Zigzagoon. Valerie caught him, and named him Abyssal. Level 2 meant a little work, but pickup has already turned some good profit.
After training a bit, Valerie wandered over to route 102 for the next catch...

Lotad made for an easy catch, but it too was level 2, and only knew Astonish. Valerie took him anyway and named him Undertow. It took a lot of work to get him up to level 6 where He knew Absorb. It meant Valerie was finally ready to challenge some trainers.

Poor Undertow was training on some wild Pokémon, and found a Surskit. He wasn't ready for the fell stinger which obliterated his soul.
It's far too early to lose a Pokémon, and poor Undertow never got to show his strength. Valerie let a tear fall for him, as she left him in the PC forever.

Valerie helped this kid named Wally catch a Ralts, good for him, and then moved on to route 103 and caught the final catch for now,
A wingull, which she named Gully. A jolly girl, and level 5 to boot.
The next step is to punch through the forest and hit up rustboro, maybe Valerie will even have gym badge.

Entry 3
Valerie entered the woods, senses alert in the twilit forest. gentle wind blew through the trees, and she could her the quite noises of Pokémon. She picked her way carefully through the forest and encountered a wurmple. She caught it and named him Kelp. With a gentle nature and shield Dust, she decided that he would be a fine edition to the team.

She moved through the woods, and right as she was nearing the other end, found a scientists, who was a hurrying in front of her. As she watched though, a strange man intercepted the scientist. He called to her and asked her assistance. Pulled into the conflict Valerie made short work of the enemy Pokémon. The scientist was so grateful that he gave her a prototype invention. The EXP share! this would be so useful, Valerie thought, however, as the scientist left, and she tried to boot the device up, it fizzled and died. Apparently it wouldn't be useful to her at all.

She made her way through to Rustboro, and caught another Pokémon north of the city. A nincada named Reef. Reef has a docile nature and compound eyes, and though she trained him, Valerie didn't feel that he would amount to much.

Speaking of training, time was spent getting the whole team up to level 10 before taking on Roxanne During that time Kelp evolved twice, becoming a beautiful Dustox. As the group entered the gym ready for battle, there was some worry, but after confidently using water gun to destroy literally all the gym trainer geodudes, things were looking pretty good. That is until the fight with Roxanne herself.

Roxanne's Geodude came out swinging, landing a critical Rock Tomb on Algae which nearly ended things. Luckily Valerie had equipped the team with Oran berries, and so Algae recovered quickly, and was able to take out the Geodude, her next Pokémon was quite bulky, and even a level or two higher, but with no more than one potion, Algae was able to finish the battle.

Valerie had won her first gym badge, and was on her way to becoming a champion.

Entry 4
As Valerie claimed her badge and left the gym, she heard screams of panic and anger coming from another part of town. She watched as the same man who had accosted the scientist earlier took of through the streets. She rolled her eyes and healed her Pokémon, then set off to track him down. Something told her she would need to do this anyway. she followed the angry voices to the Rusturf Cave. the feeling you have when you enter a library settled around her. However, she could sense a dangerous tension to it as well. She saw the man trapped against a rock wall staring at it as if he were looking for a way to smash through it. Valerie stepped up, ignoring his bravado and quickly challenged him. The battle wasn't too hard, and yet poor abyssal fell before the battle ended. A wingull came free of the shadows as he took of, dropping the package, along with a whismur. Valerie caught it and named her Coral.
As she left she was swamped by people, and found herself rushed chaotically back to the city and into the devon corp building. She zoned out as the president was speaking and found herself agreeing to errands. Following the advice of Mr. Stone, she met up with Mr. Briney, who owned the rescued wingull, and set off for dewford (after some time training.)

Dewford town was on a small island with little else on it, and so Valerie headed straight for the gym. The champion of this gym was Gully the wingull. As she finally entered the large aerobics room, and saw Brawly pumping weights as he waited for her.

Formal declaration of challenge out of the way, the battle began.

Gully came out and challenged his machop. Machop used foresight, and Gully hit it with a wing attack, and in two shots he was down. Brawly threw out Makuhita. Valerie tried to control her nerves as the Makuhita continually used bulk up, Gully's wing attacks dealing a worryingly small amount of damage. As the health dropped to the red, Makuhita changed his attacks, and hit Gully with an arm thrust. Valerie let out a gasp of shock as Gully hit the wall hard. As she watched it stood up, a dangerous gleam in it's eye, and finished off makuhita. Brawly nodded his defeat, and presented her with the gym badge.

And with that we reached the first checkpoint. I won't make it to the net checkpoint before the month ends so this is the official end.
