No Pokemon is the same

As another morning was beginning in Unova, there was a sense of peace washing over Nuvema town. In Nuvema town was Professor Juniper and the family of the three trainers who helped save the Unova Region from Ghetsis. But there was a subtle difference in one. Cheren was a teacher in the new Pokémon school. He was also a father. His daughter was Kayla and she was a fire/psychic/normal type trainer. But there was a kick to her. She was blind. Cheren didn't care though. He loved Kayla for who she was. But at the moment Kayla was living with her grandpa and grandma so Cheren and his wife could fix up her room. She was about to see because they discovered all she needed was glasses.

As the door opened, Cheren and Hilda walked inside to see their daughter poking at her berries. "Morning Kayla," Cheren greeted. But that didn't even liven her up. That worried him. He walked over to Kayla and put his hands on her shoulder before getting her to notice. "Hey," he greeted before hugging her. Hilda was even worried. She used to smile all the time and blindly run at them to the point where Cheren had to pick her up.

"What's wrong?" She put a hand on Kayla's cheek and Cheren could see it clearly. She was scared to start school because she was blind and the glasses weren't in yet.

"Do I have to go tomorrow?"

"Yes. Kayla, I know how hard it is to feel inferior to your peers and friends but it happens. You're going to do great though. Who cares that you can't see without glasses? If they can't accept you for who you are. Then they aren't worth your time. Who knows? Maybe I'll give you a position as Gym Leader," he warned.

"You'd let me be a gym Leader? Even if I was blind?" Cheren silently let his Serperior out and it wrapped it'self around Kayla.

"Your Pokémon don't care if you're blind. Remember that. This is about the bond you have with your Pokémon. Let that guide you," he responded.

She nodded and pulled her black hair back and smiled. "Okay. Okay. I'll go," she sighed. As they got up, Cheren let his wife's Reshiram make lots of noise, so Kayla could find it. As Kayla approached it she put a hand on it's wing and moved to the back before jumping onto it. "Aspertia City. Here we come," she sighed as Reshiram flew off.

 

As Cheren and Hilda got home, Cheren opened up his old glasses and put them on Kayla's face. They had been fitted for her. "How's the sweetheart? Can you see anything?"

"Yeah I can. I can see your face," she answered. He chuckled and let Kayla enjoy her moment as she walked inside.

"It was so sweet of you to give her your old glasses," Hilda chuckled. She loved seeing their daughter smile in joy and enjoy every moment of her sight. Cheren smiled and grabbed the present box. "Kayla we received a package today from Professor Juniper. It was addressed to you. Come open it," she chuckled. As Kayla walked over to the bo she saw a note.

"Read that first," Cheren chuckled. As Kayla read it she smiled in relief.

"Kayla, I want you to use these 6 Pokémon and get through school. When you're done, I want you and your dad to go on an adventure all around the Unova Region. Inside is a Pokédex, I want you to record Pokémon you see in it. But more importantly enjoy the time you have with your Pokémon," she read.

"Wow. So I guess your first opponent will be me. In the box there's also a badge case," Cheren chuckled. She nodded and then let the Pokémon out of their balls. She was stunned. Some Pokémon weren't from Unova. "Professor Juniper just got back from Kalos Regions so there's a couple of those. It's amazing what she wants you to do. But she's right. Enjoy the journey first. I learned that when I did my Unova lap. You will enjoy it so much more if you think about the memories instead of the Pokédex okay?" She nodded and Cheren smiled. He knew she was his daughter so she'd have difficulties with that.

"Oh, and see that Tepig?" Hilda had to show Kayla her's. Kayla looked confused. "They look the same don't they?" She nodded and Hilda chuckled. "Looks can be deceiving. No two Pokémon are the same. Nature's and attitudes can be the big difference. Remember that," she responded.
