I'm a Monster Hunter fan. Monster Hunter World is an awesome game that has pretty much eaten up most of my free time. Speaking of eating, Deviljho is almost upon us. I'm so excited to hunt the hangry pickle boi again!
I love MH, I play it time to time with my bf! I have 4U and Gen, unable to play World but it looks so cool!! I am currently maining Light Bow Gun and Switch Axe, although I can use just about every weapon besides Bow and Lance. Also, am I the only one that wants to see a Equal Dragon Weapon (EDW) in action? When the Atoraru Ka was announced for XX I thought that it was a EDW (as did several other fans). Although I'm sad that it's not, the monster itself is quite interesting and I want to know more about it's puppet dragon! Spoiler
MH: World Update! My arch nemesis from the old world has returned, and he's just as big and hangry as ever. Happy Spring hunting everybody.
I've played Monster Hunter since Freedom 2 and I've played the heck out of World, granted I play it less now because I have other games I need to play as well. I've been hooked every since I first played and World really took things to a new level with all the small quality of life changes they added. Is a man-made weapon (like it says in the picture, that is really all the info we known sadly), made from the parts of elder dragons, judging by what I've read its creation angered the Fatalis to the point where a war started. They're no longer being created from what I've understood, the civilization that made them are suspected to have gone extinct and the weapons and armor we the players are using is knowledge left behind by said civilization. So far no confirmation on whenever or not there's still a working specimen in the MH world. Might also be for the best if there's no working ones left considering MH games put a lot of weight on being one with nature and in balance with it at all times, suddenly having a man-made murder machine come back would go against the general mindset of the games atm. A quest chain where we found out more about this ghastly thing would be pretty cool tho since is obvious it was a big scientific milestone with a lot of potential story telling surrounding it. Just as long as we don't have to fight one, that would just be too weird for my taste with how the lore currently is.
@Hraesvelgr I was kinda talking about Atoraru Ka and its titanic 'dragon puppet'. >o< (which I more or less found out official information on it last night while reading on the EDW.) I'd love to have more lore talked about, however seeing a EDW will be near impossible as it is not actually considered canon and was dropped during the production of the first Monster Hunter game :'( It could have had potential on lore and story building- showing the modern hunters and wyverians how far they've gone from the Ancient Civilization's acts and mindset. Also what if there was a hunt where you had to fight a awakened/activated EDW that considered modern hunters a threat/monster? :O
There's still a ton of fan theories about the EDW, some of them a very interesting if you like reading that kind of stuff, since is a scrapped concept more or less I doubt we'll sadly see anythign about them at all which is a shame since MH really needs more lore. For a series this size there's so little lore and the stories you play through each game is a rinse and repeat for the most part. Atoraru Ka also looks very robotic in its appearance so is not hard to see why people might think it a EDW, it really stands out from most monsters design wise. That would probably be the quest that would either be the best one ever or the most scripted shit in the franchise to date.
If you guys don't mind, I've got a question for y'all. What is everyone's favorite monster and why? Mine is the Kirin, mostly for its design. Its fight may be annoying as all get out, but at least it's nice to look at and has a lot of cool mythology based around it. Its subspecies, Orochi Kirin, is also one of my favorites.
Kushala Daora is mine, love its design even if is a total troll in World and feels like is the new Alatreon before he got fixed. I ended up only hunting him with bow in World despite everything telling you is the worse weapon to pick. In previous games it was in I really enjoyed hunting it and Jebus it was not nearly as hard breaking its horns back then.
@SnowboundBecca I originally came to Monster Hunter because of Lagombi and Gore Magala (both design only). Now as a more seasoned player I really enjoy Arzuros's fights, Zingore's design (and its fight is pretty hard), and the lore behind the Magalas.
I love Pukei-Pukei (I've gotten really good at slaying it over the last day or so) I also quite like Paolumu cause Puffball. I hate Anjanath [I'm up a tree like a shot if I see it] and I have had a bad experience involving it and my Palico. Also have a mild dislike of Barroth and Kulu-Ya-Ku
I hunted pickle jho yesterday (today really for me lol), I finally tore myself away from Ark so I could play some MH World now that we have the Spring Festival going. I must say they gave the pickle some much needed love he's harder now than in previous games but not so hard you feel like is a complete struggle, to me at least. I'm really happy they did some tune up on it as it really was much needed.
I just got my first Monster Hunter game! =o Monster Hunter World for the PS4, to be specific. I was browsing around GameStop and decided "why not?" since I needed a game to sink a ton of hours into. Also I suppose technically it isn't my first one; I've played a bit of MH4 but deleted it cause it took up too much of my 3DS space...
Monster Hunter is probably a pretty good choice then if you need a time sink, I've spend somethign like 800 hours in one of the previous games and when I get my broken TV replaced I'm gonna start doing some serious pickle jho hunting.
Monster Hunter World Free Update: A brand new monster has been unleashed! Work with up to 16 friends to take down Kulve Taroth and go for the gold! Coming April 19 (that's tomorrow)!
Once I booted up MHW it took me like an hour and then some to make my character because I am way too picky on things like that. It was stressful. :<
I love the new monster the first round can be super boring but them the fun really starts. I haven't really gotten anything good in rewards yet but I'm really enjoying going after Kulve Taroth. I hope they give us a few more monsters like this, I would love to see Lao Shan Lung in the game like this, don't think that'll happen tho since data miners claim he's not gonna be in World.
I tried some of the 3DS MH games but couldn't really get into them for some reason... even though my partner played them to death. Monster Hunter World is very accessible and I got up to the final boss of sorts but I don't feel compelled to keep playing? Doesn't help that I don't have people to play with anymore. I'm pleased with the worldwide success it is though~ Will MHW has so many great quality of life changes the series always needed, I feel like it's.. lacking in some of the ways artistically that the older games had? Sad how many of the new monsters don't have their own unique themes, and I kinda miss the old sound effects for things like picking up items and silly stuff like that. Wish it had a larger starting roster of monsters and that Prowler was still a thing, too.
@SnowboundBecca I know!! Me and my boyfriend practically screamed when we got the news! <3 <3 the 6th game to my list of Switch games to get~
