I'll be completely honest, there's probably no reason for anyone to read this. If you play Fortnite and you can give me some pointers though, that would be great.

I found out that Fortnite was free to play. Cool! I found out my 8 year old computer is actually capable of running it. Double cool! The download didn't even take that long either.

So here's the problem that I ran into immediately. There's no tutorial. I have no clue what to do. I understand, very basically, how the game works, but there were pretty much zero instructions on how to actually do things. I tried loading into the game and immediately started hearing voices in my head. I've been told that most people play mute and I 100% plan to but I just forgot that there was a built in voice chat, got very scared, and immediately left.

So things are going great so far. Maybe next time I'll actually try playing the game.

    So, basic pointers first:
    There are 5 ammo types
Light Bullets - Used in Pistols, SMGs and Miniguns
Medium Bullets - Used in Revolvers, Assault Rifles and LMGs
Heavy Bullets - Used in Snipers, Hunting Rifles and Hand Cannons
    Shells - Used in Shotguns.
Rockets - Used in Grenade Launchers and RPGs.

Most items you find have some sort of colour around it, grey, green, blue, purple or yellow/gold. These indicate the rarity and/or power of an object. Gold is rarest, but is normally the best. Grey is found everywhere, but doesn't pack as much punch as higher tiers. Some items don't even have all the colours; there is no such thing as a grey Pump Shotgun, and no such thing as a gold Tactical SMG.

Building is also a big part of Fortnite. You can build walls to protect yourself in battle, or walkways to get to higher places easier - provided you have the resources. Wood is the easiest resource to find, but is also the weakest. Metal is the strongest, but is also tough to get a lot of. Brick is inbetween the other two.

This is all I have for now, I hope this helps Wolf.

I'm pretty sure it's F1-F4. No idea how to cycle through materials. This game really needs a tutorial.

Definitely look at your input key settings so you know what buttons do what. Then from there you can experiment with what feels most comfortable for you. For example, my build and shoot button are the exact same (because you can't build and shoot at the same time) so it's faster to just switch from building to a weapon with one of your keys. Having a wireless mouse also helps loads with aiming as well.

I didn't use voice chat much when I first started playing, but now I use it all the time if I need to squad with randoms. Sometimes you can find some really good players or some funny trolls but that's the nature of the game lol.

Just keep working on your shooting aim and building skills. If you can do a good job with a 1v1 against someone else, you're pretty much set.

If you feel like you keep dying right away in solos, try doing more duos and squads. You'd be surprised at the number of people who can give tips and stuff while teaming up.

Building is a HUGE part of Fornite and the main thing that separates it from other battle royale style games so I would suggest to practice building as much as you can. Drop into the edge of the map a few times, farm resources, and just build...it helps a lot trust me. Build connecting stairs while running up a mountain (use this a lot personally), see how quick you can drop 4 walls and a set of stairs in the middle (simple cover from all angles while giving you a slight height advantage), practice building walls/stairs while back peddling to avoid rockets/grenades, etc.

When you are getting shot at just drop some walls rather than looking for cover. I see a ton of people still scrambling around for cover when bullets start flying instead of just creating their own. You also don't need to drop into super heavily populated areas in order to have a good game. Drop in areas with a couple of chests or a few houses together rather than a town and you can still grab some decent starting gear. Just don't play super aggressive and you should be able to pick off a few people as they are moving, moving items in their inventory, or just not paying attention when they leave the higher population areas since they think everyone has already been taken care of. I tend to stick to this strategy in pretty much every battle royale style game I play and I have pretty consistent results. I've only gotten completely screwed by not finding a single weapon, other than a rubber chicken, in 2 houses one time and that was on Rules of Survival xP
