https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1037450856415361 Aaaaa!! I spotted this on Facebook today and legit cried! 1. Footage of Hurricanos, a level in Spyro 2 2. Snippets of the new level theme 3. You can toggle whether or not you hear the new themes or the original soundtrack! Also! https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1037449503082163 Stewart Copeland has arrived to oversee the new music and created this new title theme himself!
This is the best news I've heard all week! Being able to toggle between the classic and re-imagined soundtracks should make a lot of people happy. Not only that, but we've got tons of stuff from Comic Con, from Nestor's redesign (he looks a heck of a lot beefier now), all sorts of levels from Spyro 1 & 2, and even some gameplay footage for Glimmer! I wish I could showcase it all here, but the images haven't been uploaded to Twitter and Facebook yet. But I can show off this awesome poster they had for the con. Spoiler: Comic Con Spyro Reignited Trilogy poster
I might just have the playthrough the whole game twice, with the classic music and with the new music. I loved the music in the original games so being able to toggle between them is fantastic.
We got some official artwork of the first dragon Nestor for Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Look at this son of a gun. He certainly looks a lot better compared to the turban wearing one we saw originally. Spoiler: Nestor the Artisan concept art
Something I noticed, behind this dragon is a Dragon Head portal You can see one of the horns popping up behind his wing. Perhaps it's Argus? (although Argus is blue in the original) OR I may be a idiot and mistake a tower point for a Horn. RIP, there went my theory!
We got an official screenshot of Spyro 2's Sunny Beach level today, which was featured at San Diego Comic Con. Spoiler: Sunny Beach screenshot & comparison
Today on Spyro's Twitter, we see the return of everyone's "favorite" money-grubbing monocle-wearing bear. Spoiler: Moneybags screenshot
We got another character reveal today for Spyro 2! This time, it's the big green devourer of Ripto's lackeys. Spoiler: Gulp screenshot We also got some concept art of him from Toys for Bob. Spoiler: Gulp concept art
WELLLLLLLLL Things were going sooo well...I just KNEW something would go horribly wrong. Spyro Reignited Trilogy WILL REQUIRE 1-2 downloads to get Spyro 2 and 3! http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/08...will-require-a-download-to-play-spyro-2-and-3 Sadly this is a common practice with some games, but for people with poor wifi/internet (such as myself), a download like this can take 1-2 DAYS-if not longer if my internet errors out (which it does, multiple times a day)! Crash Bandicoot had this figured out, why is Spyro messing this up?!
I'm disappointed to say the least. No point really in investing in a physical copy unless the bonus that comes with it is better than the PS4 theme.
We got more Spyro 2 screenshots today! Spoiler: Scorch screenshot and comparison We also got some footage of the entire Dark Passage level from Spyro 1, courtesy of Achievement Hunter and Rooster Teeth. The full video was uploaded on their website, but it will also be uploaded on YouTube tomorrow. I've already seen it and let me tell you; it looks absolutely amazing.
A new gameplay video of Spyro 2 has been dropped on Spyro's YouTube channel! It's not a 100% complete playthrough of the level, but it's still pretty nice to see this level in particular in all its glorious remastered goodness. Spoiler: Hurricos gameplay footage
So, there is good news and bad news, and it's the same news: the release date for Spyro has been pushed back to November 13th. Blog post here. Activision have confirmed that there will still be a download, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be the full game, as it seemed to be assumed (although I don't believe it was ever confirmed) that it would be when it was announced that the second and third games would require a download. So, the bad news is you'll have to wait longer. That said, I think this bodes well to actually getting a proper physical copy. With a delay like this following the backlash from the announcement, it seems likely they'll either make the download the equivalent of a Day 1 patch or even remove it entirely. Day 1 downloads are nothing new and they are rarely if ever required to actually play the games, so hopefully they'll work something out. With a delay like this, they pretty much have to, really.
Honestly, I was expecting a delay like this to happen. It's a smart move on their part. Better to have a game like this delayed so everything is tweaked and perfect rather than put out an unfinished product (looking at you, Enter the Dragonfly). And with the whole "games 2 & 3 will require download", Canadian Guy Eh from YouTube found out that all three games put together would likely be over 50 gigabytes, which is over the limit to what current systems are able to scan at once. As such, it's very likely that it's a day 1 patch. So long as you have the game itself, downloading the rest of it won't be an issue (unless you have poor internet). It just means these games are going to be huge and filled to the brim with content, which has me relieved.
Glad to hear, although I'm still nervous with my wifi/internet issues (granted I'll be waiting for the Switch edition, which may have some differences (although I doubt much) when it comes to the Day 1 Patch).
That's the "official" reason they give, but when you look at the lineup of PS4 games launching in September...well. You have Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Dragon Quest XI, AND Spiderman...oh, and Destiny 2 and Valkyria Chronicles 4. That's just the PS4, too. November does have Fallout 76 and Hitman 2 in the same week but still...yeaaaah. I wonder if the move was designed more to try and keep it out of that busy month more than it was to seriously address any improvements - "quality control" being that favoured blanket excuse for delays from developers these days which seems to generally mean very little - and not have it bumped down on people's priorities...which it most definitely will be in some corners if they're going to insist on making 2 of the 3 titles download-required. They can't NOT be aware of the backlash at this point. Just some thoughts from the cynic in me...until I see an explanation for why they're going to make 2 of them need downloads even with this delay, anyway.
