Article "The Scream" Pokemon Card Collaboration!

From October 27th, 2018 to January 20th, 2019, the Pokémon Center and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum are collaborating with promotional Pokemon cards inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream to coincide with Tokyo Met's Munch Exhibition. Featured in the lineup are Mimikyu, Pikachu, Eevee, Psyduck (my fave) and Rowlet all mimicking the pose in Munch's most famous work.

The first card in the set, Mimikyu, goes on sale in Japan at the Tokyo Met and on the Pokémon Center Online storefront October 27th, with the rest of the set releasing at later dates through the promotional period. Buying all of these requires separate purchases, including buying an Expansion pack from the Pokémon Center. There will also be other merch such as keychains, face towels, postcards, iPhone cases, and a Pikachu plush with these Pokémon takes of The Scream.

I think these are so cool and though I have gone past my Pokémon card collecting phase... I really want that Psyduck card... Not sure how I'll get it without being in Japan but I really want it! What do you think of this cool Pokémon and Art promotion? Which card is your favorite?

I thought it was neat that within the background of the card, the next Pokémon to do 'The Scream' would be the next one to show up. With the exception of Psyduck who had background characters of Haunter and Gengar, and Rowlet who featured Mimikyu once more. I can't say I really enjoy any of them a lot, but Psyduck looks the most interesting to me. Plus I think with its Pokédex entry, it would have the most reason to be screaming.

Pikachu looks like it's trying to make faces for Togepi like in the anime or something.

Okay, I literally laughed out loud seeing these. And as soon as I got the hint of "wait, they're all standing in a line and scared of each other!" I can just imagine walking down this pier and everyone's just screaming whyyyyy.

Seeing this makes me want to be a better artist so I can do cute collabs like this, even if it's not commercial.

I want that rowlet one, purely for the mimikyu going on in the background

I also found it was an interesting choice to two different styles for the cards

I think the fact that they are a chain of 5 instead of just 1 plain old pikachu card makes them more appealing. I don't play tcg anymore, but I wouldn't mind having one of these around (or all of them) just for the art.

I really love the Rowlet and Psyduck ones. They're the only ones that actually look scared. Eevee just looks like it's calling out to its friend across the pier.
