Many people set goals or resolutions that they hope to achieve for a specific year each time the new year rolls around. Do you have any art or writing-related resolutions? Perhaps just general goals you eventually want to achieve? Maybe you want to improve your lineart skills, or publish five more chapters of your story this year? Discuss!
My resolution is to stop procrastinating and actually draw regularly... Wasn't it also my resolution last year? OH x3
I've been keeping up with a daily haiku every day this year as sort of a diary. So far, all but five (including the entire past week) have all been about my cat, because that's 90% of what I've been thinking about lately and 99% the most important change in my life. Spoiler: Today's haiku, Jan 16 (it's sad) I fill up her grave. She won't sleep under the tree. Her remains aren't here. It's in reference to me being out-voted on a method of keeping her around. Yeah, it's been a rough month. But it helps me remember every day, for better or worse. And it's not so time-consuming, so I have no excuse for a skip-day.
Art Resolution: Perform more commissions and actually care about art Writing Resolution: Start commissions and write regularly. I think those are good resolutions. They're a lot better than the nonexistent ones I had last year.
Now then the main thing here is that I don't really make resolutions, I just try to do better this year than I did last year, which doesn't always happen. Art: Maybe retry it as a way to get my hands steady for at least a minute but idk. Writing: Get more chapters done this year than last year which I have to beat 5 chapters that were made last year so yeah that is going to be fun but the band won't as demanding this year so that should help.
I'm not usually the one to do new year resolutions, but this year I made one about my writing because its really starting to annoy me. I've been constructing my story for almost two years now, yet I don't have much of anything written down in a draft. My writing resolution is to get a substantial chunk of that draft done.
I just in general want to do more. I'd also like to practice drawing fur and other textures. There are some really good artists who draw with a level of detail that just blows me away, so I definitely want to practice more and try to improve. I need to write more too. I'm getting really close to finishing a book I've been working on for a long time now, but I the idea of actually doing it is intimidating to an extent, so I might have been subconsciously procrastinating a bit over the last few months. Maybe I'll take a break at some point and actually finish that old fanfic of mine over on fanfiction that I haven't updated in going on 2 years.
I plan to practice watercolor this year, and finish it off with a small canvas painting at the end of the year. ^^
I want to try to draw and write more regularly. I didn’t do very much art or writing last year and I want to get better.
After realizing that my drawings have been almost exclusively digital for the last year or so, I decided to try drawing traditionally more often. Initially, the plan was to do a traditional drawing once a week, but I've already failed to do that, so Imma just draw traditionally whenever I can.
I dont do resolutions usually, but I really do wanna get into drawing more. It was fun when I did it a lot 2 years ago and last year I didnt do enough. So I hope I can make it happen in 2019
Art Resolution: Make higher quality work and actually finish a project for once. Also draw more original stuff. Writing Resolution: Actually write something and try to do it regularly. Also try and publiah at least 2 chapters of a FanFiction (hey its something)
My specific writing goal is to get at least 3 chapters into my third (and final) book of this series I'm writing so I have to finish book 2 still.
I’ve spent so many years improving my grammar and vocabulary, but my storytelling has been dormant. That’s why I want to finish at least one short story by the end of this year. Once I’m comfortable writing characters in a short story environment, maybe I can finally try writing a novel.
Art Goal: Actually start drawing regularly again and try to get back to the same level of skill I had at the end of the drawing class I took a while ago. (Finally starting to make progress on this goal.) Writing Goal: Actually finish writing a book. (Unlikely to happen concidering this is the same goal I've had since graduating highschool and the farthest I've gotten into any of my original stories is about half a chapter).
Art and writing, just to keep at it. Keep improving and doing what I do that makes me happy, ya know.
This year, I want to really improve at backgrounds. Of course, my all-around improvement is a goal, but with my comic on the horizon, I feel the need to tackle my biggest weaknesses.
Get better at drawing people, that's the only goal I have. Actually no I do have one more. That is to flesh out out my characters a lot more. Have full backstories for them, in-depth personalities, all that kinda stuff.
