I had no idea this was a thing until right before making this post, but apparently there's a new Pokémon miniseries that just started called Pokémon: Twilight Wings. The series will consist of seven episodes released on a monthly basis, each following different characters in the Galar region with plots all involving the Flying Taxi service. The first episode has just released on Youtube in both Japanese and English.
I saw the first episode and thought it was pretty cool. I wish they'd make a main series anime that didn't involve Ash though.
I watched it yesterday. I thought it was interesting, I just wish it was a full series. The art style is amazing, and my baby boy Allister was there... I’m looking forward to watching these in the future.
Definitely a fun first watch. Although I'm a little disappointed they aren't focusing on John's story, I'm also equally excited to see what else they'll show.
Just watched it! I liked it. I liked how you could still see John’s drawing at the beginning of the episode, I thought that was a nice touch.
This series is written surprisingly well for one-offs. However, I can't get the idea out of my head that these are themed after the bonds between Pokémon and trainer. Not that that's bad and as these shorts prove is quite enjoyable. It just might get a little boring if they keep with that theme the whole series. Great miniseries so far.
Corviknight Uber driver: Looks like we're gonna have to land Corviknight. Hop's Wooloo: I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move.
These are doing a great job of expanding the feel of the region and showing some great personality from both people and Pokémon. I am liking these more than the main series mainly because they are not as formulaic. The animation is gorgeous too, I hope they keep it going for some time.
They've just released episode 4 in English (the Japanese version actually came out almost a week ago), with the focus this time around being on the water-type gym leader, Nessa.
I watched it a few times in Japanese and it feels nice to finally understand what they’re saying lol. I love how they expanded on Nessa and Sonia’s friendship. Also Marnie was in the cafe! I wish Twilight Wings was a full series and not a miniseries, because the animation style is so visually appealing and I love the way they expand on the characters’ personalities.
These shorts are beautiful and colorful but I always feel like the animation, and voice acting are just a little awkward. However, this series has consistently show amazing writing and morals. I don't know who the writer is, but Nintendo needs to hire them and make actually good game stories. I'm sold on this series just because of the writing and hope that this series will at least inspire more creative stories to come.
It has been announced that due to the corona virus, this month's episode has been delayed to June 5th.
I really love how this episode especially shows the Pokémon interacting in the world, with the Mr. Rime tap dancing to the accordion or the Sudowoodo in the office place. Also this episode had so many cameos: Kabu, Piers, Gordie, Melony, and Allister. This episode brought some interesting character development to Oleana, who to my understanding doesn’t have much in the games. I can’t wait for Allister’s episode next!
These episodes needed to be in the base game. This was an amazing episode that made a half bit throwaway villain into a really interesting and fun character. This is the kind of story and character development that the games needed. Pokémon clearly has either had this writing talent from the start and refused to bring it in game, or they hired a really good writer to make these episodes. I can only imagine the possible story threads that could have been implemented on this one episode alone. I just wish gamefreak didn't rush it out, and put these actually good stories into their game.
Twilight wings is hands down one of my favorite Pokémon things as far as shows/shorts. Particularly Bea's and Nessa's episodes. I think the show is so sweet and touching.
