Writing Writing Help Needed! Zero and Ikaika's Travel Plans in Pokemon Resonance

So I'm thinking about having Zero travel abroad with one of his rivals, Ikaika, in the middle of his Johto Gym Challenge. He's supposed to be back in New Bark Town after one whole year since he set off on his adventure. His rival Ikaika is unable to raise oridinary Pokémon and has taken up the challenge of building a team of Mythical Pokémon. He came to Johto looking for Celebi, but I plan for him to leave with Zero to visit other regions after they've both earned their Cianwood Gym badges.

From Olivine, they will sail to Hoenn to look for Mew because there was an event there back in Gen 3. After Ikaika gets Mew, they will head to Unova and get Keldeo and Genesect. After that, I'll probably have them head to Kalos for Diancie and Volanion. I might even reenact some of their movies. How many days do you guys think it would take for them to travel to the island for Mew in Hoenn, the P2 Lab in Unova, Kalos, and back to Johto?

I mean, I estimate that Zero will make it to Goldenrod City on Day 17 of his journey, so I'm sure he has a lot more than enough time to get his 8 badges and make it back home in a year even if he travels from Olivine back to Ecruteak on foot. I'm just not sure yet how much extra time he has exactly.

 

@SyWry Is that year estimate total time overall or just the overseas stuff by itself?

Zero arrived in Azalea Town in the morning on day 9, so obviously it's not going to take him 17 days to travel between towns. He might however stay in one place for an extended period of time, like I'm guessing he's going to spend a week working at the Pokémon Nursery before arriving at Goldenrod.

It doesn't strike me as something that will happen a lot though since he's been trying to dodge a Pokémon Hunter with a Mega Banette and been pretty lucky with that so far. He might head to Violet City from Goldenrod for a bit to try and throw her off. I'll be able to gauge better how much more he'll have to do once I've finished Ilex Forest. He might be ready to deal with her more often after his 4th badge, but I won't know for a while. It's also not like he's going to be travelling on foot the whole time.

This does however remind me Zero needs to set aside time to experiment with variations on Force Palm and then Focus Blast later. That will require some training. He did train a bit before each of his first two gyms. I need to remember that as well because he can't just rush everywhere all the time. The gyms aren't going to be that easy after the second one.

I imagine he can cut out some of his travel time after his Bayleaf evolves. Meganium should be big enough to carry more than one person. I just wouldn't know how many people that he would be travelling with. Also, Far Away Island wasn't actually part of Hoenn after all, so I'm guessing it's around the Sevii Islands like Birth Island and Navel Rock, which isn't nearly as far as Hoenn I don't think.

If that's their first stop, I think Unova is the closer stop after that, which is fine by me. I don't actually need Ikaika to go over to Kalos as Genesect and Keldeo are actually enough to fill his team. Diancie is just the only Mythic that can Mega, and partially reenacting Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel would give Ikaika some character development.

The fanfic is based more on the games and manga than the anime, so I can't actually reenact Keldeo's movie nearly as well. That being said, I'd rather go a different route on introducing Ikaika's Keldeo, so I'm able to be more flexible with that one. The main problem not doing Kalos creates with that is Keldeo won't get as much development before Ikaika goes back to Johto, not that I've worked out Keldeo's introduction anyway, but that is a very far away point right now.

I'd have a hard enough time just working out everything that goes on between arriving in Goldenrod and arriving in Ecruteak especially given how much seems to happen in and after the gyms so far, so that's a bridge I'll cross once I've figured out everything up to Cianwood at least.

 

I did mention the part where I found out that Faraway Island apparently wasn't part of Hoenn and thought it might be around the Sevii Islands, right? I imagine those to be west of Kanto; somewhere between it and Alola, and then Unova being the next closest region after that. Kalos might be closer to Unova than I think though. That would mean the Mew they're going after wouldn't be in Hoenn at all.

Now that you mention it, I had forgotten that Unova actually has an airport. It's just on the opposite side end of the region from the P2 Lab. The most I thought about it was having Zero ride his Togekiss to Olivine from Cianwood and not like it. And then flying all the way to Viridian Forest and back just to get a pair of Pokémon he used to play with back when he lived in Kanto.

I can see them maybe taking a helicopter to Mew's island now that I think about it. The only issue with air travel back to Johto is that I was planning on finishing the arc with Pokémon Heroes. I guess it doesn't really matter how they get to Altomare. It's just that I don't think they could take a plane there. I'm not entirely sure where in Johto it would be, but I'm pretty sure it's not on the mainland. I also have no idea if they could get there by helicopter from Unova or Kalos assuming they could even take a copter from Sevii to Unova. I don't know anything about helicopters.

But 2 months? It's probably going to take longer than that even if I do Keldeo and Genesect at the same time, but it sounds like Zero could get back to Johto, get his eighth badge, and still have well over half a year to spare. I think I can estimate 250 extra days at best. That's more than enough time to save the world while he's at it lol.
