Yeah so recently I’ve been making alternate shinies for Pokémon that might have bad shinies, or ones I don’t like. Others I might just make for fun. I’ll update more as I make them. Spoiler: Tab 1 Warning: these first ones aren’t as good as my more recent ones because I just filled in different colors with the paint bucket tool. It was at this point that I figured out how to shift the HSL values and stuff, which is what I use from here on out. (Warning: I made a lot of different Kommo-o shinies.) Ok, I know this one is barely different from its original shiny, but the red is more crimson and the body (minus the tuft of fluff that has the wings) is a very light shade of gray. I despise Mimikyu’s normal shiny, but it’s hard to make a new shiny for it!
I like these, even the ones that are only subtlely different from the official. And even with the new Gen 8 starters, I think you're already taking those in a direction that is both visually pleasing and looks possibly official. Keep it up!
These look great! I think my faves are Camerupt, Aromatisse Ninjask, and the gen 8 starters from part 1!
Here are some potential shinies I made for the Sw/Sh box legendaries. Spoiler: Box legendaries of Sw/Sh So basically I changed the gold to silver, and changed each Pokémon’s primary color (blue for Zacian and red for Zamazenta) to black and the opposite color (red for Zacian, dark blue for Zamazenta) to be pink and lighter blue, respectively. The black on its face and claws were changed to match the game’s color (blue for Zacian, magenta for Zamazenta). And I left the leg and snout color the same. It’s very confusing when I explain it, I know. It makes more sense to explain in my head.
Spoiler: Tab 2 This one was just for fun, and I did that gradient myself! This is Mega Latias, with a reddish shade of purple. This is Mega Latios, with a bluer shade of purple. I felt the need to specify which was which. (I like these Garchomps more than my first ones. But I kept the same idea with them that the Mega should have darker colors.) I changed the colors of the sails to match the northern lights. My 2 favorite ice cream flavors- strawberry and cookies and cream! I’ve always thought Heracross had a red shiny... Heliolisk has a really awkward shiny (if that makes any sense) so I shifted the colors to make a more coherent shiny. Also the eye is more teal. I figured I might as well give Magearna an actual shiny- Here’s the Nidoking-colored shiny Nidoqueen has always deserved! (Not hating on its original shiny, which I actually like.) Here’s Pink Butterfree we’ve always wanted in the games!
Spoiler: Tab 3 This is my favorite of all the shinies I’ve made. It reminds me of a winter forest! This is the last Kommo-o, I swear! This one I based on Darkwing Duck, a character in the Ducktales universe. This one I made for fun. It’s based on Negaduck, who is the villain in the Darkwing series iirc. Based on the original sprite of Sneasel, which was brown and blue for some reason. And now I’m finally caught up! Next I’ll be posting shinies for all gen 8 Pokémon.
Here are the shinies I made for all the existing gen 8 Pokémon (aside from the box legendaries, who are in a previous post on the thread). Now I’m not saying that these are guaranteed to be the shinies. These aren’t even speculations. I just made these for fun. Oh, and obviously gen 8 spoilers. Spoiler: My Gen 8 shinies (Edited because the pictures disappeared for some reason)
Your shading has really improved from the first batch! The Wooloo, Rolycoly, Grookey, and Yamper shinies are easily my favorites.
I like these gen 8 shinies! And I love hearing your thoughts too! I think my faves are the first Grookey and Scorbunny, Alcremie and Yamper. And golden Corviknight would look nice for sure!
Spoiler: Tab 4 I wanted Plusle’s shiny to look similar to Minun’s shiny in the sense that it’s a lighter color than the original. So pink it is. Sort of a color swap between the light and dark greens it originally had, darker yellow, and purple eyes. Color swap between the purple and blue, with red eyes. This one is similar to its actual shiny, but the skin is more yellow and the spots are more red, and the tail is gray. I looked up pictures of polar bears and they have cream-colored fur. I tried to mimic that but it’s a bit too orange. Oh well, that’s fine.
All of these shinies look fantastic. I especially like the shinies you made for gen 8. They all look different from the originals, but still good.
I cannot describe how much I enjoy the Incineroar shiny re-color that you've done. The Garchomp also catches my eyes. What suitable colors!
Here’s some potential shinies I made for the newly introduced Pokémon: Spoiler: New Pokémon (August 7) For Galarian Weezing, I changed the green smog mustache to purple and the mouth to a teal color, which actually happened to look like regular Weezing’s shiny. I also changed the skulls to a bright green color like toxic waste, and made the body slightly greener. For both Galarian Zigzagoon and Linoone, I darkened the white and changed the black to a reddish-black. Obstagoon got the same treatment, but the big tuft on its back is a much brighter red. I also gave it blue eyes and tongue for contrast and more variety. I honestly think that their shinies will be red or pink, considering Team Yell uses them, and their dominant color is pink. I swapped the brown and gray, and made its body a light blue. I changed the purple to dark blue, darkened the gray part, and saturated the eyes and cheeks a bit.
Here’s some shinies I made for the new Pokémon introduced at Nintendo Direct: Spoiler: New Pokémon (September 4) For Cramorant, I felt that an aqua blue would be suiting. The red eye is because I thought of pigeons, which I think have red eyes. It also contrasts the aqua. I left the beak and feet the same. For Polteageist, well upon finding this picture, I discovered that it’s the “Black Tea Pokémon” so I thought it was fitting to make it black. And since it’s Ghost type, it’s purple. Also black and purple is my favorite color combination. The aqua part of the teapot I changed to a dark blue, and the gold handle is slightly darker.
Here’s one I made for the “mystery Pokémon” Spoiler: Mystery Pokémon (September 18) I’ll be honest, I had absolutely no idea what to make for its shiny. This one is bland, but it’ll do. The white is clearly more gray, like a suit of armor. The beak and feet are a darker yellow to fit with the darker color palette. The green parts were desaturated. Finally, the iris resembles Farfetch’d’s odd pink shiny.
Now, this isn’t technically a shiny fix, but this has been bothering me ever since I first saw the Pokémon (gen 8 spoiler) Spoiler: Sobble evolution color edit Drizzle has a different color palette than Sobble, which would be okay... if not for the fact that its evolution Inteleon uses the same color palette as Sobble (minus the black). So I edited Drizzile to have the same color palette, as well as changing the purple fin thing to be a darker blue to somewhat “hint” at the blacks used in Inteleon’s palette.
Wow, it’s been a while. Here are a few Galar shiny fixes. Spoiler Hatterene’s regular shiny is abysmal... replacing the nice blue with a boring gray and darkening the pink just a little bit is so bland. I shifted the hues around to give it a purple and yellow color scheme. Centiskorch has a lazy shiny of just changing the back to a teal color that doesn’t look good against the oranges and reds. So a blue and purple colors scheme, and I darkened the back to differentiate it. Boltund’s shiny is also lazy, to the point that I can’t tell what’s different about it. I thought a bright color scheme would work with an Electric type like Boltund, so it is electric blue and yellow. Cinderace’s shiny just doesn’t work for me. The orange and gray don’t look good together, and they had to change the navy to a hideous white. I mainly saturated and darkened the color palette. There’s more potential for a better shiny than this one, but I think this could suffice, I really hate white shinies, especially when the white used to be a dark color, because I feel like the Pokémon is less intimidating. It never looks good, and Grimmsnarl is no exception. I darkened the hair and de-saturated it a bit. I kept the skin part purple, but made it more of a cool toned blue, and the reddish pink parts I changed to gold. (I didn’t realize that when I made this that my Hatterene was also purple and gold... what a coincidence.)
